1 Como te estamos gratos, ó Deus!

Como te louvamos!

Os teus poderosos milagres são a prova

de que a força do teu nome atua no nosso meio.

2 "Sim!", responde o Senhor.

"Quando chegar a altura, no lugar determinado,

hei de julgar com toda a justiça.

3 Ainda que a Terra trema

e os seus habitantes vivam na confusão,

eu mantenho as suas colunas firmes. (Pausa)

4 Disse aos orgulhosos:

‘Parem com a loucura da vossa arrogância!’

E aos perversos:

‘Não levantem a cabeça com insolência!

5 Acabem com a vossa atitude altiva!

Não continuem nessa dura obstinação!’ "

6 Porque o progresso e o poder

não vêm do deserto nem das montanhas;

nem do Oriente, nem do Ocidente;

7 Deus é o perfeito juiz;

sabe quem deve honrar e quem deve submeter.

8 O Senhor tem na mão uma taça de vinho,

vinho amargo e fermentado;

toda a gente perversa, que o tem rejeitado na Terra,

dele beberá, até à última gota.

9 Quanto a mim, hei de afirmá-lo para sempre,

cantando louvores ao Deus de Jacob.

10 Deus diz: "Acabarei com o poder dos homens perversos

mas aumentarei a força dos justos."

5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
