1 Então Eliasibe, o sacerdote supremo, mais os outros sacerdotes reconstruíram as muralhas, até à torre dos Cem, e à torre de Hananel eguidamente refizeram a porta das Ovelhas, aplicaram-lhe as portas e consagraram-na.2 Homens da cidade de Jericó trabalharam ao lado deles, e tiveram também o apoio de uma equipa de trabalhadores chefiada por Zacur (filho de Imri).3 A porta do Peixe foi reconstruída pelos filhos de Senaa; fizeram tudo: prepararam a madeira, aplicaram as portas, fizeram as dobradiças e as fechaduras.4 Meremote (filho de Urias, filho de Coz) ocupou-se da secção a seguir na muralha, e mais à frente trabalharam Mesulão (filho de Berequias, filho de Mesezabel) e Zadoque (filho de Baana).5 Tiveram também ao lado deles os homens de Tecoa, mas os seus chefes não estavam dispostos a empenhar-se neste trabalho.6 A porta Velha foi reparada por Joiada (filho de Paséia) e por Mesulão (filho de Besodeias). Prepararam a madeira e colocaram as portas com os gonzos e as fechaduras.7 Na secção a seguir estavam Melatias de Gibeão, Jadom de Merenote, e homens de Gibeão e de Mizpá, cidadãos desta província.8 Uziel (filho de Haraías), um ourives, e Hananias, um fabricante de perfumes, também trabalharam separadamente nas muralhas. Não foi preciso fazerem-se reparações no sector que ia dali até ao muro Largo.9 Refaías (filho de Hur), administrador de metade do distrito de Jerusalém, também participou nos trabalhos na sua zona. Jedaías (filho de Harumafe) reconstruiu a parte do muro que ficava ali junto à sua casa, e mais ao lado trabalhou Hatús (filho de Hasabnéias).11 A seguir estavam Malquias (filho de Harim) e Hassube (filho de Paate-Moabe) que se ocuparam da torre dos Fornos, e de uma secção da muralha adjacente.12 Salum (filho de Haloés) e as suas filhas repararam a parte seguinte. Salum era o administrador da outra metade do distrito de Jerusalém.13 O povo de Zanoa, chefiado por Hanum, refez a porta do Vale, levantou os batentes, pôs os ferrolhos e as dobradiças; além disso trabalharam também na secção de quinhentos metros até à porta do Monturo.14 Esta última foi reparada por Malquias (filho de Recabe), administrador do bairro de Bete-Haquerem. Tal como com as outras, ocuparam-se do madeiramento, das ferragens e sua aplicação.15 A porta da Fonte ficou a cargo de Salum (filho de Col-Hoze), administrador do bairro de Mizpá; refez todo o emadeiramento e recolocou as portas, com as respectivas ferragens. Depois aplicou-se na muralha que vai do tanque de Siloé até ao jardim do rei, e os degraus que descem da cidade de David, um bairro de Jerusalém.16 A seguir estava Neemias (filho de Azbuque), administrador de metade do bairro de Betezur; reconstruiu até diante do cemitério real, até ao reservatório de água e até à messe dos oficiais.17 Vinha depois um grupo de levitas trabalhando sob o controlo de Reum (filho de Bani). Então era Hasabias, administrador de metade do bairro de Queila, que reedificou o muro da zona de território de que era responsável.18 Os seus irmãos estavam a seguir, actuando sob as ordens de Bavai (filho de Henadade), administrador da outra metade do bairro de Queila.19 Os operários que vinham a seguir estavam liderados por Ezer (filho de Jesua), administrador da outra parte de Mizpá; estes trabalharam igualmente na parte da muralha defronte da subida para a casa das armas, onde a parede faz uma esquina.20 Logo após aplicou-se, com grande ardor, Baruque (filho de Zabai), na reconstrução a partir da esquina da muralha até à casa de Eliasibe, o sacerdote supremo. Meremote (filho de Urias e neto de Coz) reparou uma secção da muralha que ia de um ponto oposto à porta da casa de Eliasibe até junto da mesma casa.22 A seguir estavam os sacerdotes vindos das campinas fora da cidade. Benjamim, Hassube e Azarias (filho de Maaséias e neto de Ananias) trabalharam nas partes que ficavam mesmo junto às suas próprias casas.24 Vinha depois Binuí (filho de Henadade) que se encarregou da secção que ia da casa de Azarias até ao canto seguinte. Palal (filho de Uzai) responsabilizou-se pela obra desde o canto até à base da torre superior da casa real, junto ao pátio da prisão. A seguir vinha Pedaías (filho de Parós).26 Os netinins, que davam assistência em trabalhos no templo, e que viviam em Ofel, reconstruíram a muralha até defronte da porta da Água, para o leste e até à torre Alta.27 Depois seguiam-se os tecoitas, que repararam a secção oposta à torre do Castelo e por cima do muro de Ofel.28 Os sacerdotes encarregaram-se da parte após a porta dos Cavalos, cada uma fazendo a parte imediatamente oposta à sua casa.29 Zadoque (filho de Imer) também reconstruiu a parte junto à sua habitação; depois dele estava Semaías (filho de Secanias), o porteiro da porta Oriental.30 Após ele estava Hananias (filho de Selamias), Hanum (o sexto filho de Zalafe) e Mesulão (filho de Berequias) que reconstruíram junto às casas que habitavam.31 Malquias, um dos ourives, ocupou-se da secção que ia até à morada dos serviçais do templo e dos comerciantes, defronte da porta da Inspecção, até à câmara superior junto do canto da muralha.32 Os outros ourives e comerciantes completaram a muralha desde esse canto até à porta das Ovelhas.

And next to them built Zaccur the son of Imri.3 But the fish-gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid its beams, and set up its doors, its locks and its bars.4 And next to them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next to him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabniah.11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahath-moab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces.12 And next to him repaired Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.13 The valley-gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and a thousand cubits on the wall to the dung-gate.14 But the dung-gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Beth-haccerem; he built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars.15 But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and to the stairs that go down from the city of David.16 After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth-zur, to the place over against the sepulchers of David, and to the pool that was made, and to the house of the mighty.17 After him repaired the Levites Rehum the son of Bani. Next to him repaired Hashabiah the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.18 After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah.19 And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece over against the ascent to the armory, at the turning of the wall.20 After him Baruch the son of Zabbai, earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall to the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.21 After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib, even to the end of the house of Eliashib.22 And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain.23 After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub, over against their house. After him repaired Azariah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, by his house.24 After him repaired Binnui, the son of Henadad, another piece, from the house of Azariah to the turning of the wall, even to the corner.25 Palal, the son of Uzai, over against the turning of the wall, and the tower which lieth out from the king's high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah, the son of Parosh.26 Moreover, the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, to the place over against the water-gate towards the east, and the projecting tower.27 After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, over against the great projecting tower, even to the wall of Ophel.28 From above the horse-gate repaired the priests, every one over against his house.29 After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate.30 After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another piece. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah over against his chamber.31 After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith's son, to the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, over against the gate Miphkad, and to the ascent of the corner.32 And between the ascent of the corner to the sheep-gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.
