1 And David said, Is there yet one left unto the house of Saul,that I may show him lovingkindness, for the sake of, Jonathan?2 Now, unto the house of Saul, belonged a servant, whose name, was Ziba, and, when they had called him unto David, the king said unto himArt, thou, Ziba? And he saidThy servant!3 Then said the kingIs there never a man remaining unto the house of Saul, that I may show him the lovingkindness of God? And Ziba said unto the king, There remaineth a son unto Jonathan, lame in his feet.4 And the king said to him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Lo! he, is in the house of Machir son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar.5 Then sent King David,and fetched him out of the house of Machir son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar.6 Now, when Mephibosheth, son of Jonathan, son of Saul, came in unto David, he fell on his face and did homage. And David said, Mephibosheth? And he said, Lo! thy servant.7 And David said to himDo not fear, for I will, indeed shew, thee lovingkindness, for the sake of Jonathan thy father, and will restore unto thee all the land of Saul thy father,but, thou thyself, shall eat bread at my table, continually.8 And he did homage, and saidWhat is thy servant,that thou hast turned towards such a dead dog as I?9 Then the king called for Ziba, Sauls servant, and said unto him,All that pertained unto Saul and unto all his house, have I given unto the son of thy lord:10 therefore shalt thou till for him the ground, thou, and thy sons, and thy servants, and shalt bring in, so that thy lords son may have bread to eat, but, Mephibosheth, thy lords son, shall continually eat bread at my table. Now, Ziba, had fifteen sons, and twenty servants.11 Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king shall command his servant, so, will thy servant do,but, Mephibosheth, is to eat at the table of David, as one of the sons of the king.12 Now, Mephibosheth, had a little son, whose name, was Micha. And, all that dwelt in the house of Ziba, were servants unto Mephibosheth.13 So, Mephibosheth, dwelt in Jerusalem, for, at the table of the king, continually, had he to eat,he being lame, in both his feet.

1 E disse Davi: Há ainda alguém que ficasse da casa de Saul, para que lhe faça bem por amor de Jônatas? 2 E havia um servo na casa de Saul cujo nome era Ziba; e o chamaram que viesse a Davi, e disse-lhe o rei: És tu Ziba? E ele disse: Servo teu. 3 E disse o rei: Não há ainda algum da casa de Saul para que use com ele de beneficência de Deus? Então, disse Ziba ao rei: Ainda há um filho de Jônatas, aleijado de ambos os pés. 4 E disse-lhe o rei: Onde está? E disse Ziba ao rei: Eis que está em casa de Maquir, filho de Amiel, em Lo-Debar.

5 Então, mandou o rei Davi e o tomou da casa de Maquir, filho de Amiel, de Lo-Debar. 6 E, vindo Mefibosete, filho de Jônatas, filho de Saul, a Davi, se prostrou com o rosto por terra e se inclinou; e disse Davi: Mefibosete! E ele disse: Eis aqui teu servo. 7 E disse-lhe Davi: Não temas, porque decerto usarei contigo de beneficência por amor de Jônatas, teu pai, e te restituirei todas as terras de Saul, teu pai, e tu de contínuo comerás pão à minha mesa. 8 Então, se inclinou e disse: Quem é teu servo, para tu teres olhado para um cão morto tal como eu?

9 Então, chamou Davi a Ziba, moço de Saul, e disse-lhe: Tudo o que pertencia a Saul e de toda a sua casa tenho dado ao filho de teu senhor. 10 Trabalhar-lhe-ás, pois, a terra, tu, e teus filhos, e teus servos, e recolherás os frutos, para que o filho de teu senhor tenha pão que coma; e Mefibosete, filho de teu senhor, de contínuo comerá pão à minha mesa. E tinha Ziba quinze filhos e vinte servos. 11 E disse Ziba ao rei: Conforme tudo quanto meu senhor, o rei, manda a seu servo, assim fará teu servo; porém Mefibosete comerá à minha mesa como um dos filhos do rei. 12 E tinha Mefibosete um filho pequeno, cujo nome era Mica; e todos quantos moravam em casa de Ziba eram servos de Mefibosete. 13 Morava, pois, Mefibosete em Jerusalém, porquanto de contínuo comia à mesa do rei; e era coxo de ambos os pés.
