1 But we request you, brethren,in behalf of the Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto him,2 That ye be not quickly tossed from your mind, nor be put in alarmeither by spirit, or by discourse, or by letter as by us, as that the day of the Lord, hath set in:3 That no one may cheat, you, in any one respect. Because except the revolt come first, and there he revealed the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction,4 The one who opposeth and exalteth himself on high against every one called God, or an object of worship; so that he, within the sanctuary of God, shall take his seat, showeth himself forth, that he is, God:5 Remember ye not, that, while I was yet with you, these very things, I was telling you?6 And, what now restraineth, ye know, to the end he may be revealed in his own fitting time;7 For, the secret, of lawlessness, already, is inwardly working itself,only, until, he that restraineth at present, shall be gone, out of the midst:8 And, then, shall be revealed the lawless one,whom, the Lord Jesus , will slay with the Spirit of his mouth, and paralyse with the forthshining of his Presence:9 Whose, presence, according to an inworking of Satan, with all manner of mighty work and sign and wonders of falsehood,10 And with all manner of deceit of unrighteousness, in them who are destroying themselves, because, the love of the truth, they did not welcome, that they might be saved;11 And, for this cause, God sendeth them an inworking of error, to the end they should believe in the falsehood,12 In order that should be judged who would not believe in the truth, but were well-pleased with the unrighteousness.13 But, we, are bound to give thanks unto God continually concerning you, brethren beloved by the Lord, for that God chose you, from the beginning, unto salvation, in sanctification of spirit and belief of truth,14 Unto which he called you, through means of our glad-message, unto an acquiring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.15 Hence, then, brethren, stand firm, and hold fast the instructions which ye were taughtwhether through discourse, or through our letter.16 But may, our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father,Who hath loved you, and given you age-abiding consolation and good hope by favour,17 Console your hearts, and confirm you in every good work and word!

1 Ora, irmãos, rogamo-vos, pela vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e pela nossa reunião com ele, 2 que não vos movais facilmente do vosso entendimento, nem vos perturbeis, quer por espírito, quer por palavra, quer por epístola, como de nós, como se o Dia de Cristo estivesse já perto. 3 Ninguém, de maneira alguma, vos engane, porque não será assim sem que antes venha a apostasia e se manifeste o homem do pecado, o filho da perdição, 4 o qual se opõe e se levanta contra tudo o que se chama Deus ou se adora; de sorte que se assentará, como Deus, no templo de Deus, querendo parecer Deus. 5 Não vos lembrais de que estas coisas vos dizia quando ainda estava convosco? 6 E, agora, vós sabeis o que o detém, para que a seu próprio tempo seja manifestado.

7 Porque já o mistério da injustiça opera; somente há um que, agora, resiste até que do meio seja tirado; 8 e, então, será revelado o iníquo, a quem o Senhor desfará pelo assopro da sua boca e aniquilará pelo esplendor da sua vinda; 9 a esse cuja vinda é segundo a eficácia de Satanás, com todo o poder, e sinais, e prodígios de mentira, 10 e com todo engano da injustiça para os que perecem, porque não receberam o amor da verdade para se salvarem. 11 E, por isso, Deus lhes enviará a operação do erro, para que creiam a mentira, 12 para que sejam julgados todos os que não creram a verdade; antes, tiveram prazer na iniquidade.

13 Mas devemos sempre dar graças a Deus, por vós, irmãos amados do Senhor, por vos ter Deus elegido desde o princípio para a salvação, em santificação do Espírito e fé da verdade, 14 para o que, pelo nosso evangelho, vos chamou, para alcançardes a glória de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. 15 Então, irmãos, estai firmes e retende as tradições que vos foram ensinadas, seja por palavra, seja por epístola nossa.

16 E o próprio nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, e nosso Deus e Pai, que nos amou e em graça nos deu uma eterna consolação e boa esperança, 17 console o vosso coração e vos conforte em toda boa palavra e obra.
