1 you alsobeing dead by your offences and sins,2 In which at one time ye walked, according to the age of the world, according to the prince of the authority of the air, of the spirit that now energiseth in the sons of disobedience,3 Among whom also, we all, had our behaviour, at one time, in the covetings of our flesh, doing the things desired by the flesh and the mind, and were children, by nature, of angereven as the rest,4 But, God, being rich in mercy, by reason of the great love wherewith he loved us,5 Although we were dead by our offences, gave us life together with the Christ,by favour, ye have been saved,6 And raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenlies, in Christ:7 That he might point out, in the oncoming ages, the surpassing riches of his favour in graciousness upon us, in Christ Jesus;8 For, by his favour, have ye been saved, through means of faith, and this not from you, of God, the free-gift!9 Not from works, lest anyone should boast.10 His, in fact we arehis workmanship, created in Christ Jesus upon a footing of good works, which God prepared beforehand, that, therein, we might walk.11 Wherefore, keep in remembrancethat, at one time, ye, the nations in flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by the so-called Circumcision in flesh, made by hand,12 That ye were, in that season, separate from Christ, alienated from the citizenship of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and godless in the world;13 But, just now, in Christ Jesus, ye, who at one time were afar off, were made nigh in the blood of the Christ;14 He, in fact, is our peacewho made both one, and, the enclosing middle-wall, took down,15 The enmity, in his fleshthe law of commandments in decreesbringing to nought,that, the two, he might create in himself, into one man of new mould, making peace.16 And might fully reconcile them both, in one body, through means of the cross,slaying the enmity thereby;17 And, coming, he announced the glad-messageof peace, unto you, the far off, and peace, unto them that were nigh;18 Because, through him, we have our introductionwe bothin one Spirit, unto the Father.19 Hence, thenno longer, are ye strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens of the saints, and members of the household of God,20 Having been built up on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, there being, for chief corner stone, Jesus Christ himself,21 In whom, an entire building, in process of being fitly joined together, is growing into a holy shrine in Lord;22 In whom, ye also, are being builded together, into a habitation of God in Spirit.

1 E vos vivificou, estando vós mortos em ofensas e pecados, 2 em que, noutro tempo, andastes, segundo o curso deste mundo, segundo o príncipe das potestades do ar, do espírito que, agora, opera nos filhos da desobediência; 3 entre os quais todos nós também, antes, andávamos nos desejos da nossa carne, fazendo a vontade da carne e dos pensamentos; e éramos por natureza filhos da ira, como os outros também. 4 Mas Deus, que é riquíssimo em misericórdia, pelo seu muito amor com que nos amou, 5 estando nós ainda mortos em nossas ofensas, nos vivificou juntamente com Cristo (pela graça sois salvos), 6 e nos ressuscitou juntamente com ele, e nos fez assentar nos lugares celestiais, em Cristo Jesus; 7 para mostrar nos séculos vindouros as abundantes riquezas da sua graça, pela sua benignidade para conosco em Cristo Jesus. 8 Porque pela graça sois salvos, por meio da fé; e isso não vem de vós; é dom de Deus. 9 Não vem das obras, para que ninguém se glorie. 10 Porque somos feitura sua, criados em Cristo Jesus para as boas obras, as quais Deus preparou para que andássemos nelas.

11 Portanto, lembrai-vos de que vós, noutro tempo, éreis gentios na carne e chamados incircuncisão pelos que, na carne, se chamam circuncisão feita pela mão dos homens; 12 que, naquele tempo, estáveis sem Cristo, separados da comunidade de Israel e estranhos aos concertos da promessa, não tendo esperança e sem Deus no mundo. 13 Mas, agora, em Cristo Jesus, vós, que antes estáveis longe, já pelo sangue de Cristo chegastes perto. 14 Porque ele é a nossa paz, o qual de ambos os povos fez um; e, derribando a parede de separação que estava no meio, 15 na sua carne, desfez a inimizade, isto é, a lei dos mandamentos, que consistia em ordenanças, para criar em si mesmo dos dois um novo homem, fazendo a paz, 16 e, pela cruz, reconciliar ambos com Deus em um corpo, matando com ela as inimizades. 17 E, vindo, ele evangelizou a paz a vós que estáveis longe e aos que estavam perto; 18 porque, por ele, ambos temos acesso ao Pai em um mesmo Espírito. 19 Assim que já não sois estrangeiros, nem forasteiros, mas concidadãos dos Santos e da família de Deus; 20 edificados sobre o fundamento dos apóstolos e dos profetas, de que Jesus Cristo é a principal pedra da esquina; 21 no qual todo o edifício, bem-ajustado, cresce para templo santo no Senhor, 22 no qual também vós juntamente sois edificados para morada de Deus no Espírito.
