1 After that, fourteen years later, I, again, went up unto Jerusalem, with Barnabas, taking with me Titus also;2 And I went up by revelation, and laid before them the glad-message which I proclaim among the nations; privately, however, to them of repute,lest, by any means, in vain, I should be running, or had run.3 But, not even Titus, who was with me, though he was a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised;4 But, because of the false brethren secretly introduced,who, indeed, came in secretly to spy out our freedom, which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:5 Unto whom, not even for an hour, gave we place by the submission,in order that, the truth of the glad-message, might still abide with you.6 Moreover, from them who were reputed to be something,whatsoever at one time, they were, maketh no difference to me, God accepteth not a mans person,unto me, in fact, they who were of repute added nothing further;7 But, on the contrary,when they saw that I had been entrusted with the glad-message to the uncircumcision, even as, Peter, to the circumcision,8 For, he that energised in Peter, into an apostleship to the circumcision, energised also in me, for the nations,9 And when they perceived the favour which had been given unto me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave, the right hand of fellowship, unto me and Barnabas, in order that, we, unto the nations, and, they, unto the circumcision:10 Only that we should remember, the destitute,as to which I had given diligence, this very thing, to do.11 But, when Cephas came unto Antioch, to the face, , him, I resisted, because he stood condemned;12 For, before that certain came from James, with them of the nations, used he to eat; whereas, when they came, he used to withdraw, and keep himself separate, fearing them of the circumcision;13 And the rest of the Jews also used hypocrisy with him, so that, even Barnabas, was carried away by their hypocrisy.14 But, when I saw that they were not walking with straightforwardness as regardeth the truth of the glad-message, I said unto Cephas, before all: If, thou, although, a Jew, like them of the nations, and not like the Jews, dost live, how dost thou compel, them of the nations, to live like Jews?15 We, by nature Jews, and not sinners from among the nations,16 Knowing, however, that a man is not declared righteous by works of law, save through faith in Christ Jesus; even we, on Christ Jesus, believed, that we might be declared righteousby faith in Christ, and not by works of law; because, by works of law, shall no flesh be declared righteous.17 Now, if in seeking to be declared righteous in Christ we, ourselves also, were found sinners,is Christ, therefore, a minister, of sin? Far be it!18 For, if, the things that I pulled down, these, again, I build, a transgressor, I prove, myself, to be.19 For, I, through means of law, unto law, died, that, unto God, I might live:20 With Christ, have I been crucified; and, living no longer, am, I, but, living in me, is, Christ,while, so far as I now do live in flesh, by faith, I liveThe faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up in my behalf.21 I do not set aside the favour of God; for, if, through law, is righteousness, then, Christ, without cause, died.

1 Depois, passados catorze anos, subi outra vez a Jerusalém com Barnabé, levando também comigo Tito. 2 E subi por uma revelação e lhes expus o evangelho que prego entre os gentios e particularmente aos que estavam em estima, para que de maneira alguma não corresse ou não tivesse corrido em vão. 3 Mas nem ainda Tito, que estava comigo, sendo grego, foi constrangido a circuncidar-se. 4 E isso por causa dos falsos irmãos que se tinham entremetido e secretamente entraram a espiar a nossa liberdade que temos em Cristo Jesus, para nos porem em servidão; 5 aos quais, nem ainda por uma hora, cedemos com sujeição, para que a verdade do evangelho permanecesse entre vós. 6 E, quanto àqueles que pareciam ser alguma coisa (quais tenham sido noutro tempo, não se me dá; Deus não aceita a aparência do homem), esses, digo, que pareciam ser alguma coisa, nada me comunicaram; 7 antes, pelo contrário, quando viram que o evangelho da incircuncisão me estava confiado, como a Pedro o da circuncisão 8 (porque aquele que operou eficazmente em Pedro para o apostolado da circuncisão, esse operou também em mim com eficácia para com os gentios), 9 e conhecendo Tiago, Cefas e João, que eram considerados como as colunas, a graça que se me havia dado, deram-nos as destras, em comunhão comigo e com Barnabé, para que nós fôssemos aos gentios e eles, à circuncisão; 10 recomendando-nos somente que nos lembrássemos dos pobres, o que também procurei fazer com diligência.

11 E, chegando Pedro à Antioquia, lhe resisti na cara, porque era repreensível. 12 Porque, antes que alguns tivessem chegado da parte de Tiago, comia com os gentios; mas, depois que chegaram, se foi retirando e se apartou deles, temendo os que eram da circuncisão. 13 E os outros judeus também dissimulavam com ele, de maneira que até Barnabé se deixou levar pela sua dissimulação. 14 Mas, quando vi que não andavam bem e direitamente conforme a verdade do evangelho, disse a Pedro na presença de todos: Se tu, sendo judeu, vives como os gentios e não como judeu, por que obrigas os gentios a viverem como judeus? 15 Nós somos judeus por natureza e não pecadores dentre os gentios. 16 Sabendo que o homem não é justificado pelas obras da lei, mas pela fé em Jesus Cristo, temos também crido em Jesus Cristo, para sermos justificados pela fé de Cristo e não pelas obras da lei, porquanto pelas obras da lei nenhuma carne será justificada. 17 Pois, se nós, que procuramos ser justificados em Cristo, nós mesmos também somos achados pecadores, é, porventura, Cristo ministro do pecado? De maneira nenhuma. 18 Porque, se torno a edificar aquilo que destruí, constituo-me a mim mesmo transgressor. 19 Porque eu, pela lei, estou morto para a lei, para viver para Deus. 20 Já estou crucificado com Cristo; e vivo, não mais eu, mas Cristo vive em mim; e a vida que agora vivo na carne vivo-a na fé do Filho de Deus, o qual me amou e se entregou a si mesmo por mim. 21 Não aniquilo a graça de Deus; porque, se a justiça provém da lei, segue-se que Cristo morreu debalde.
