1 Then sang Deborah, and Barak, son of Abinoam,on that day, saying:2 For the leadership of leaders in Israel, For the volunteering of the people,Bless ye Yahweh!3 Hear, ye kings! Give ear, ye princes! I, unto Yahweh,I, will sing, Will make melody to Yahweh, God of Israel.4 O Yahweh! When thou didst come forth out of Seir, When thou didst march along out of the field of Edom, Earth, trembled, Heaven also, poured forth,Yea, dark clouds, poured forth waters;5 From, mountains, came down streams In presence of Yahweh,From this Sinai, In presence of Yahweh, God of Israel.6 In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the roads were forsaken,and, the frequenters of highways, betook them to roundabout paths:7 There was a failure of rulers, in Israel, a failure,until I arose, a Deborah, arose, a mother in Israel:8 They chose gods that were new, Then,war at the gates! Was there, a shield, to be seen? or a spear? among forty thousand in Israel?9 My heart for the governors of Israel, for the volunteers among the people, Bless ye Yahweh!10 Ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit on carpets, and ye that walk upon the road, speak!11 In the place of the noise of bowmen among the wells, there, laud yethe righteous acts of Yahweh, the righteous acts of his rule over Israel. Then, had come down to the gates the people of Yahweh.12 Awake! awake! Deborah, Awake! awake! utter words of song,Arise! Barak, and bind fast thy captives, O son of Abinoam!13 Then, came down a remnant to the noblesa people,Yahweh, came down with me against the mighty.14 Out of Ephraim, they whose root was in Amalek, After thee, Benjamin, among thy tribes,Out of Machir, had come down governors, And, out of Zebulun, such as bear aloft the staff of the marshal;15 And, my princes in Issachar, were with Deborah, yea, Issachar, was the support of Barak, Into the vale rushed they forth at his feet. Among the divisions of Reuben, great were the resolves of the heart:16 Wherefore abodes thou among the folds? To hear the mocking of the flocks? The divisions of Reuben, had great counsellings of heart.17 Gilead, beyond the Jordan, took his rest, but, Dan, wherefore remained he with the ships? Asher, abode by the shore of the seas, and, by his creeks, must needs rest.18 Zebuluna people that scorned their souls unto death; and, Naphtali,upon the heights of the field.19 On came kings, they fought, Then, fought the kings of Canaan, In Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo,Plunder of silver, they took not away!20 From heaven, was the battle fought,The stars in their courses, fought against Sisera.21 The torrent of Kishon, swept them away, the torrent of olden times, the torrent of Kishon! Let my soul march along, with victorious strength!22 Then, stamped hoofs of horses, With the gallopings, gallopings of his mighty steeds.23 Curse ye Meroz, saith the messenger of Yahweh, Curse ye with a curse, the inhabitants thereof,because they came not in to the help of Yahweh, to the help of Yahweh, against the mighty.24 Blessed above women, shall be Jael, wife of Heber the Kenite,Above women in the tent, be blessed:25 Water, he asked, Milk, she gave,In a bowl for nobles, presented cream:26 Her hand, to the tent-pin, put she forth, and, her right hand, to the toilers mallet,Then smote she Sisera, She shattered his head, Yea she split open and pierced through his temples:27 Between her feet, he bowedhe fell, he lay,Between her feet, he bowedhe fell, Where he bowed, There, he felldestroyed!28 Through the window, looked out and shrilly cried, The mother of Sisera, through the lattice,Why is his chariot ashamed to come? Why delay the wheels of his chariot?29 The wise ladies, her princesses, responded,Nay! she, returned answer to, herself:30 Is it not They keep findingdividing spoil, One damsel, two damsels, to every several hero, Spoil, of divers coloured raiment for Sisera, Spoil, of divers coloured raiment, embroidered, Coloured raiment richly embroidered, on the necks of them who are taken as spoil?31 So, perish all thine enemies, O Yahweh, But be, they who love him, as the going forth of the sun, in his might! And the land had rest forty years.

1 E cantou Débora e Baraque, filho de Abinoão, naquele mesmo dia, dizendo: 2 Porquanto os chefes se puseram à frente em Israel, porquanto o povo se ofereceu voluntariamente, louvai ao Senhor. 3 Ouvi, reis; dai ouvidos, príncipes; eu, eu cantarei ao Senhor; salmodiarei ao Senhor, Deus de Israel. 4 Ó Senhor, saindo tu de Seir, caminhando tu desde o campo de Edom, a terra estremeceu; até os céus gotejaram, até as nuvens gotejaram águas. 5 Os montes se derreteram diante do Senhor, e até o Sinai diante do Senhor, Deus de Israel. 6 Nos dias de Sangar, filho de Anate, nos dias de Jael, cessaram os caminhos de se percorrerem; e os que andavam por veredas iam por caminhos torcidos. 7 Cessaram as aldeias em Israel, cessaram, até que eu, Débora, me levantei, por mãe em Israel me levantei. 8 E, se escolhia deuses novos, logo a guerra estava às portas; via-se, por isso, escudo ou lança entre quarenta mil em Israel? 9 Meu coração é para os legisladores de Israel, que voluntariamente se ofereceram entre o povo; louvai ao Senhor. 10 Vós, os que cavalgais sobre jumentas brancas, que vos assentais em juízo e que andais pelo caminho, falai disto. 11 Onde se ouve o estrondo dos flecheiros, entre os lugares onde se tiram águas, ali falai das justiças do Senhor, das justiças que fez às suas aldeias em Israel; então, o povo do Senhor descia às portas. 12 Desperta, desperta, Débora, desperta, desperta, entoa um cântico; levanta-te, Baraque, e leva presos teus prisioneiros, tu, filho de Abinoão. 13 Então, o Senhor fez dominar sobre os magníficos, entre o povo ao que ficou de resto; fez-me o Senhor dominar sobre os valentes. 14 De Efraim saiu a sua raiz contra Amaleque; e após ti vinha Benjamim dentre os teus povos; de Maquir e Zebulom desceram os legisladores, passando com o cajado do escriba. 15 Também os principais de Issacar foram com Débora; e, como Issacar, assim também Baraque foi enviado a pé para o vale; nas correntes de Rúben foram grandes as resoluções do coração. 16 Por que ficaste tu entre os currais para ouvires os balidos dos rebanhos? Nas divisões de Rúben tiveram grandes esquadrinhações do coração. 17 Gileade se ficou dalém do Jordão, e Dã por que se deteve em navios? Aser se assentou nos portos do mar e ficou nas suas ruínas. 18 Zebulom é um povo que expôs a sua vida à morte, como também Naftali, nas alturas do campo. 19 Vieram reis e pelejaram; então, pelejaram os reis de Canaã em Taanaque, junto às águas de Megido; não tomaram ganho de prata. 20 Desde os céus pelejaram; até as estrelas desde os lugares dos seus cursos pelejaram contra Sísera. 21 O ribeiro de Quisom os arrastou, aquele antigo ribeiro, o ribeiro de Quisom. Pisaste, ó minha alma, a força. 22 Então, as unhas dos cavalos se despedaçaram pelo galopar, o galopar dos seus valentes. 23 Amaldiçoai a Meroz, diz o Anjo do Senhor; acremente amaldiçoai os seus moradores, porquanto não vieram em socorro do Senhor, em socorro do Senhor, com os valorosos. 24 Bendita seja sobre as mulheres Jael, mulher de Héber, o queneu; bendita seja sobre as mulheres nas tendas. 25 Água pediu ele, leite lhe deu ela; em taça de príncipes lhe ofereceu manteiga. 26 À estaca estendeu a sua mão esquerda, e ao maço dos trabalhadores, a sua direita; e matou a Sísera e rachou-lhe a cabeça, quando lhe pregou e atravessou as fontes. 27 Entre os seus pés, se encurvou, caiu, ficou estirado; entre os seus pés, se encurvou, caiu; onde se encurvou, ali ficou abatido. 28 A mãe de Sísera olhava pela janela e exclamava pela grade: Por que tarda em vir o seu carro? Por que se demoram os passos dos seus carros? 29 As mais sábias das suas damas responderam; e até ela respondia a si mesma: 30 Porventura não achariam e repartiriam despojos? Uma ou duas moças a cada homem? Para Sísera despojos de várias cores, despojos de várias cores de bordados; de várias cores bordados de ambas as bandas, para os pescoços do despojo? 31 Assim, ó Senhor, pereçam todos os teus inimigos! Porém os que o amam sejam como o sol quando sai na sua força. 32 E sossegou a terra quarenta anos.
