1 *Matt 24:36. När det gäller tider och stunder, bröder, behöver vi inte skriva till er. 2 *Matt 24:43, 2 Petr 3:10, Upp 3:3. Ni vet själva mycket väl att Herrens dag kommer som en tjuv om natten. 3 *Jer 6:14. När folk säger: "Fred och trygghet", då drabbar undergången dem lika plötsligt som värkarna hos en kvinna som ska föda, och de slipper inte undan.

4 *Ef 5:8f. Men ni, bröder, lever inte i mörker så att den dagen kan överraska er som en tjuv. 5 *Luk 16:8, Ef 5:8. Ni är alla ljusets barn och dagens barn. Vi tillhör inte natten eller mörkret. 6 *Luk 21:36, Rom 13:11, 1 Petr 5:8. Låt oss därför inte sova som de andra utan hålla oss vakna och nyktra. 7 De som sover, de sover om natten, och de som berusar sig är berusade om natten. 8 *Jes 59:17, Ef 6:14. Men vi som tillhör dagen ska vara nyktra, iförda tron och kärleken som rustning och hoppet om frälsning som hjälm. 9 *Rom 5:9. Gud har inte bestämt oss till att drabbas av vredesdomen utan till att vinna frälsning genom vår Herre Jesus Kristus. 10 *Rom 14:8f, 1 Tess 4:14, 16f. Han har dött för oss för att vi ska leva med honom, vare sig vi är vakna eller insomnade. 11 *Rom 14:19, Jud v 20. Uppmuntra därför varandra och uppbygg varandra, så som ni redan gör.

12 *1 Kor 16:16, 18, 1 Tim 5:17. Vi ber er, bröder, att uppskatta dem som arbetar bland er och leder er i Herren och förmanar er. 13 *Rom 12:18. Visa dem den största kärlek för det arbete de gör. Håll frid med varandra. 14 *Rom 14:1, Gal 6:1f, 2 Tess 3:6. Vi upp-manar er, bröder: förmana de oansvariga, uppmuntra de missmodiga, ta hand om de svaga och ha tålamod med alla. 15 *Ords 20:22, Matt 5:39f, Rom 12:17. Se till att ingen lönar ont med ont, utan sträva alltid efter att göra gott både mot varandra och mot alla.

16 *Luk 10:20, Fil 4:4. Var alltid glada, 17 *Luk 18:1f, Ef 6:18, Kol 4:2. be utan uppehåll 18 *Ef 5:20. och tacka Gud i allt. Detta är Guds vilja med er i Kristus Jesus. 19 *Ef 4:30. Släck inte Anden. 20 *1 Kor 14:1, 39, Ef 4:11. Förakta inte pro-fetior, 21 *1 Kor 14:29, 1 Joh 4:1. men pröva allt, behåll det goda 22 och håll er borta från allt slags ont.

23 *Rom 15:33, 1 Kor 1:8f, 2 Tess 3:16. Må fridens Gud själv helga er helt och fullt, och må er ande, själ och kropp bevaras hela så att ni är utan fläck när vår Herre Jesus Kristus kommer. 24 *1 Kor 10:13, Fil 1:6. Trofast är han som kallar er, han ska också utföra sitt verk.

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves. 14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. 25 Brethren, pray for us.
