1 *Matt 9:1f, Luk 5:17f. Några dagar senare kom Jesus tillbaka till Kapernaum. När man fick höra att han var hemma 2 samlades så många att de inte längre fick plats ens utanför dörren. Och han förkunnade ordet för dem.

3 Då kom man till honom med en förlamad som bars av fyra män. 4 När de för folkmassans skull inte kunde komma fram med honom till Jesus, tog de bort taket över platsen där han var. De gjorde en öppning och sänkte ner bädden som den lame låg på. 5 Jesus såg deras tro och sade till den lame: "Mitt barn, dina synder är förlåtna."

6 Nu satt där några skriftlärda, och de tänkte i sina hjärtan: 7 *Jes 43:25. "Varför talar han så? Han hädar! Vem kan förlåta synder utom Gud?" 8 Jesus förstod genast i sin ande att de tänkte så inom sig, och han sade till dem: "Varför tänker ni så i era hjärtan? 9 Vad är lättast, att säga till den lame: Dina synder är förlåtna, eller att säga: Res dig, ta din bädd och gå? 10 Men för att ni ska veta att Människosonen*2:10MänniskosonenJesu dubbeltydiga titel: ordet är synonymt med "människa" (jfr Ps 8:5) men syftar också på profetians himmelska kungagestalt (Dan 7:13f). har makt på jorden att förlåta synder, säger jag dig" – och nu talade han till den lame: 11 "Res dig, ta din bädd*2:11ta din bäddTroligen en sovmatta som enkelt rullades ihop. och gå hem!" 12 Då reste mannen sig upp, och genast tog han sin bädd och gick ut inför ögonen på dem alla. Och alla blev utom sig av häpnad och prisade Gud och sade: "Vi har aldrig sett något liknande!"

13 Än en gång gick Jesus längs sjön. Allt folket kom till honom, och han undervisade dem. 14 När han gick vidare såg han Levi*2:14Levikallades också Matteus (Matt 9:9)., Alfeus son, sitta vid tullhuset. Han sade till honom: "Följ mig!" Då reste sig Levi och följde honom.

När Jesus sedan låg till bords*2:15tullindrivare och syndareTullindrivare drev in skatt åt den romerska ockupationsmakten och berikade ibland sig själva på folkets bekostnad (Luk 3:13, 19:8). Jesus hörde det och sade till dem: "Det är inte de friska som behöver läkare, utan de sjuka. Jag har inte kommit för att kalla rättfärdiga, utan syndare."

Så länge de har brudgummen hos sig kan de inte fasta. 20 Men det ska komma dagar när brudgummen tas ifrån dem, och då, på den dagen, kommer de att fasta.

21 Ingen syr fast en lapp av okrympt tyg på en gammal mantel. I så fall river det nya tyget bort ännu mer från den gamla manteln och revan blir värre. 22 Och ingen häller nytt vin i gamla säckar*2:22nytt vin i gamla säckarDruvsaften jäste i täta skinnsäckar som spändes ut vid jäsningen (jfr Job 32:19). 27 Sedan sade han till dem: "Sabbaten skapades för människan och inte människan för sabbaten. 28 Alltså är Människosonen Herre också över sabbaten."

And he arose and followed him. 15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. 18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? 19 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. 21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. 22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles. 23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. 24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? 25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? 26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? 27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
