1 Também Davi e os capitães do exército separaram para o serviço alguns dos filhos de Asafe, de Hemã e de Jedutum, que profetizassem com harpas, com alaúdes e com címbalos. O número dos que eram empregados no serviço foi:2 dos filhos de Asafe: Zacur, José, Netanías e Asarela, filhos de Asafe, sob a direção de Asafe que profetizava debaixo das ordens do rei.3 De Jedutum, os filhos de Jedutum: Gedelias, Zeri, Jesaías, Hasabias e Matitias, seis, sob a direção de seu pai Jedutum com a harpa, o qual profetizava, louvando a Jeová e dando-lhe graças.4 De Hemã, os filhos de Hemã: Buquias, Matanias, Uziel, Sebuel, Jerimote, Hananias, Hanani, Eliata, Gidalti, Romanti-Ezer, Josbecasa, Maloti, Hotir e Maaziote.5 Todos estes filhos de Hemã, vidente do rei nas palavras de Deus, foram designados para tocarem a corneta. Deus deu a Hemã quatorze filhos e três filhas.6 Todos estes estavam sob a direção de seu pai para o canto na casa de Jeová, e tinham címbalos, alaúdes e harpas para o serviço da casa de Deus, estando Asafe, Jedutum e Hemã debaixo das ordens do rei.7 O número deles, juntamente com seus irmãos que eram instruídos em cantar a Jeová, a saber, todos os peritos, era duzentos e oitenta e oito.8 Tiraram os seus cargos por sortes, todos igualmente, tanto o pequeno como o grande, assim o mestre como o discípulo.9 A primeira sorte que era de Asafe, saiu a José; a segunda a Gedalias, que com seus irmãos e filhos eram doze;10 a terceira a Zacur, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;11 a quarta a Izri, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;12 a quinta a Netanías, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;13 a sexta a Buquias, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;14 a sétima a Jesarela, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;15 a oitava a Jesaías, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;16 a nona a Matanias, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;17 a décima a Simei, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;18 a undécima a Azarel, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;19 a duodécima a Hasabias, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;20 a décima terceira a Subael, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;21 a décima quarta a Matitias, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;22 a décima quinta a Jeremote, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;23 a décima sexta a Hananias, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;24 a décima sétima a Josbecasa, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;25 a décima oitava a Hanani, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;26 a décima nona a Maloti, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;27 a vigésima a Eliata, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;28 a vigésima primeira a Hotir, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;29 a vigésima segunda a Gidalti, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;30 a vigésima terceira a Maaziote, seus filhos e irmãos, doze;31 e a vigésima quarta a Romanti-Ezer, seus filhos e irmãos, doze.

1 Moreover David and the chief .officers of the army separated for the ministry the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Idithun : to prophesy with harps, and with psalteries, and with cymbals according to their number serving in their appointed office.2 Of the sons of Asaph: Zacchur, and Joseph, and Nathania, and Asarela, sons of Asaph: under the hand of Asaph prophesying near the king.3 And of Idithun: the sons of Idithun, Godolias, Serf, Jeseias, and Hasabias, and Mathathias, six, under the hand of their father Idithun, who prophesied with a harp to give thanks and to praise the Lord.4 Of Heman also: the sons of Heman, Bocciau, Mathaniau, Oziel, Subuel, and Jerimoth, Hananias, Hanani, Eliatha, Geddelthi, and Romemthiezer, and Jesbacassa, Mellothi, Othir, Mahazioth:5 All these were the sons of Heman the seer of the king in the words of God, to lift up the horn: and God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.6 All these under their father's hand were distributed to sing in the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, and psalteries and harps, for the service of the house of the Lord near the king: to wit, Asaph, and Idithun, and Heman.7 And the number of them with their brethren, that taught the song of the Lord, all the teachers, were two hundred and eighty-eight,8 And they cast lots by their courses, the elder equally with the younger, the learned and the unlearned together.9 And the first lot came forth to Joseph, who was of Asaph.
