1 Paulo, Silvano e Timóteo à igreja dos tessalonicenses em Deus Pai e no Senhor Jesus Cristo: Graça e paz vos sejam dadas.2 Sempre damos graças a Deus por todos vós, fazendo menção de vós em nossas orações,3 lembrando-nos sem cessar diante do nosso Deus e Pai da vossa obra da fé, do trabalho do amor e da firmeza da esperança em nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo;4 conhecendo, irmãos amados de Deus, a vossa eleição,5 porque nosso Evangelho não veio a vós somente com palavras, mas também com poder, com o Espírito Santo e com muita convicção; como sabeis quais nos tornamos entre vós por amor de vós.6 Vós vos fizestes imitadores nossos e do Senhor, tendo recebido a palavra no meio de muita tribulação com gozo do Espírito Santo,7 de sorte que vos tornastes modelo para todos os crentes na Macedônia e na Acaia.8 Pois de vós fez-se ouvir a palavra do Senhor não somente na Macedônia e na Acaia, mas também em todos os lugares divulgou-se a vossa fé para com Deus, de maneira que não nos é necessário dizer coisa alguma;9 porque eles mesmos anunciam de nós qual a entrada que tivemos entre vós, e como vos convertestes dos ídolos a Deus, para servirdes ao Deus vivo e verdadeiro,10 e para aguardardes dos céus seu Filho, a quem ele ressuscitou dentre os mortos-a saber, Jesus que nos livra da ira vindoura.

May grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be yours!2 We always thank God for all of you when we mention you in our prayers.3 In the presence of our God and Father, we constantly remember how your faith is active, your love is hard at work, and your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ is enduring.4 Brothers whom God loves, we know that he has chosen you,5 for the gospel we brought did not come to you in words only, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with deep conviction. Indeed, you know what kind of people we proved to be while we were with you, acting on your behalf.6 You became imitators of us and of the Lord. In spite of a great deal of suffering, you welcomed the word with the joy that the Holy Spirit produces.7 As a result, you became a model for all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.8 From you the word of the Lord has spread out not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place where your faith in God has become known. As a result, we do not need to say anything.9 For people keep telling us what kind of welcome you gave us and how you turned away from idols to serve a living and true God10 and to wait for his Son whom he raised from the dead to come back from heaven. This Jesus is the one who rescues us from the coming wrath.
