1 Tu, porém, fala o que convém à sã doutrina.2 Exorta os velhos a que sejam sóbrios, circunspectos, prudentes, sãos na fé, no amor e na perseverança;3 da mesma maneira as velhas a que sejam de compostura reverente, não maldizentes, não dadas ao excesso no uso do vinho, a que ensinem o bem,4 para que instruam as mulheres moças a amarem seus maridos e seus filhos,5 a serem prudentes, castas, cuidadosas da casa, bondosas, sujeitas a seus maridos, a fim de que a palavra de Deus não seja blasfemada.6 Exorta também os moços a que sejam prudentes em tudo,7 e faze-te a ti mesmo um exemplo de boas obras, na tua doutrina mostrando integridade, seriedade8 e linguagem sã e irrepreensível, para que o adversário se confunda, não tendo mal algum que dizer de nós.9 Exorta os servos a que sejam sujeitos a seus senhores, que lhes sejam agradáveis em tudo;10 e que não os contradigam, que não os defraudem, mas que lhes manifestem em tudo perfeita fidelidade, a fim de que em tudo honrem a doutrina de Deus nosso Salvador.11 Pois a graça de Deus se manifestou, trazendo a salvação a todos os homens,12 ensinando-nos, a fim de que, renunciando a impiedade e as paixões mundanas, vivamos no presente mundo sóbria, reta e piamente,13 aguardando a bem-aventurada esperança e a manifestação da glória do grande Deus e nosso Salvador Cristo Jesus,14 que se deu a si mesmo por nós, a fim de nos remir de toda a iniqüidade e purificar para si um povo todo seu, zeloso de boas obras.15 Fala estas coisas, exorta e repreende com toda a autoridade; ninguém te despreze.

1 But as for you, teach what is consistent with healthy doctrine.2 Older men are to be sober, serious, sensible, and sound in faithfulness, love, and endurance.3 Likewise, older women are to show their reverence for God by their behavior. They are not to be gossips or addicted to alcohol, but to be examples of goodness.4 They should encourage the younger women to be lovers of their husbands, lovers of their children,5 sensible, pure, managers of their households, and kind, and to submit themselves to their husbands, lest the word of God be discredited.6 Likewise, encourage the younger men to be sensible.7 Always set an example of good works. When you teach, show integrity and dignity.8 Use wholesome speech that cannot be condemned. Then any opponent will be ashamed because he cannot say anything bad about us.9 Slaves are to submit themselves to their masters in everything, aiming to please them and not argue with them10 or steal from them. Instead, they are to show complete and perfect loyalty, so that in every way they may make the teaching about God our Savior more attractive.11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people.12 It trains us to renounce ungodly living and worldly passions so that we might live sensible, honest, and godly lives in the present world13 as we wait for the blessed hope and the glorious appearance of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.14 He gave himself for us to set us free from every wrong and to cleanse us so that we could be his special people who are enthusiastic about good works.15 These are the things you should say. Encourage and refute with full authority. Do not let anyone look down on you.
