Acerca das coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos

1 Quanto às *1Co 8.4,7,10; cp.At 15.20coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos, sabemos que todos temos *cp.1Co 8.7,10;1Co 10.15;Rm 15.14ciência. A ciência *1Co 4.6incha, mas a caridade *Rm 14.19edifica; 2 *1Co 3.18se alguém pensa que conhece alguma coisa, *cp.1Co 13.8-9,12;1Tm 6.4não a conhece ainda como convém conhecer; 3 mas, se alguém ama a Deus, este *Gl 4.9; cp.Rm 8.29;11.2;Sl 1.6;Jr 1.5;Am 3.2é conhecido por ele. 4 Quanto, pois, ao comer das viandas sacrificadas aos ídolos, sabemos que *1Co 10.19;At 14.15;Gl 4.8um ídolo nada é no mundo e que *1Co 8.6;Dt 4.35,39;6.4não há outro Deus senão só um. 5 Pois, ainda que há os *2Ts 2.4que se chamam deuses, quer no céu quer na terra (como há muitos deuses e muitos senhores), 6 para nós, contudo, *1Co 8.4;Dt 4.35,39;6.4há um só Deus, *Ml 2.10;Ef 4.6o Pai, *Rm 11.36de quem são todas as coisas e para quem nós existimos; *1Co 1.2;Ef 4.5; cp.Jo 13.13;1Tm 2.5e um só Senhor, Jesus Cristo, *Jo 1.3;Cl 1.16por quem são todas as coisas, e nós outros, por ele. 7 Todavia, nem em todos há *1Co 8.4ss.esse conhecimento; mas *Rm 14.14,22s.alguns, acostumados até agora com o ídolo, comem como de viandas sacrificadas a um ídolo; e a consciência deles, sendo fraca, é contaminada. 8 *Rm 14.17A comida, porém, não nos recomendará a Deus; não somos piores, se não comermos. 9 Mas *Rm 14.13,21;1Co 10.28;Gl 5.13vede que essa liberdade vossa não venha, de alguma forma, a ser pedra de tropeço para os *1Co 8.10s.;Rm 14.1fracos. 10 Pois, se alguém te vir a ti, que tens ciência, sentado à mesa em templo de ídolo, não será a consciência do tal, sendo ele fraco, animada a comer das *1Co 8.4,7; cp.At 15.20coisas sacrificadas aos ídolos? 11 Pois, pela tua ciência, *Rm 14.15,20perece aquele que é fraco, teu irmão, por quem Cristo morreu. 12 *cp.Mt 18.6;Rm 14.20Assim pecando vós contra os irmãos e ferindo a sua consciência quando é fraca, pecais *cp.Mt 25.45contra Cristo. 13 Por isso, *Rm 14.21; cp.1Co 10.32;2Co 6.3;11.29se a comida serve de pedra de tropeço a meu irmão, jamais comerei carne, para que eu não sirva de pedra de tropeço a meu irmão.

1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. 2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him. 4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. 5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. 8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. 9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak. 10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; 11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. 13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
