Aías prediz a ruína da casa de Jeroboão

1 Naquele tempo, adoeceu Abias, filho de Jeroboão. 2 Disse Jeroboão à sua mulher: Levanta-te, *1Sm 28.8;2Sm 14.2;2Cr 18.29e disfarça-te para que não conheçam que és mulher de Jeroboão, e vai-te *Js 18.1a Siló. Eis que lá está o profeta Aías, que *1Rs 11.29-31a meu respeito falou que eu reinaria sobre este povo. 3 *1Rs 13.7;1Sm 9.7-8;2Rs 4.42Leva contigo dez pães, e bolos, e uma botija de mel e vai ter com ele, que te declarará o que há de acontecer a este menino. 4 A mulher de Jeroboão assim fez; levantou-se, foi *1Rs 14.2a Siló e chegou à casa de *1Rs 11.29Aías. Aías não podia ver, porque *1Sm 3.2;4.15os olhos já se lhe tinham obscurecido por causa da sua muita idade. 5 Disse, porém, Jeová a Aías: Eis que vem a mulher de Jeroboão a consultar-te sobre seu filho, que está doente. Assim e assim lhe falarás, porque, quando ela entrar, *2Sm 14.2há de fingir-se outra.

6 Ouvindo Aías o som de seus pés, ao entrar ela pela porta, disse: Entra mulher de Jeroboão; porque finges tu ser outra? Pois eu sou enviado para te dar uma dura nova. 7 Vai e dize a Jeroboão: Assim diz Jeová, Deus de Israel: *1Rs 11.28-31;16.2Porquanto te exaltei do meio do povo, e te constituí príncipe sobre o meu povo de Israel, 8 e da casa de Davi tirei o reino, e to dei a ti, *1Rs 11.33,38contudo não tens sido como o meu servo Davi, que guardou os meus mandamentos e que me seguiu de todo o seu coração, *1Rs 15.5fazendo o que era reto aos meus olhos; 9 mas tens praticado maiores males do que os que foram antes de ti, *1Rs 12.28;2Cr 11.15e foste e fabricaste para ti outros deuses e *Êx 34.17imagens de fundição, para me provocares à ira, e *Sl 50.17;Ez 23.35a mim me lançaste para trás das costas; 10 portanto, eis que trarei o mal sobre a casa de Jeroboão e lhe *1Rs 21.21;2Rs 9.8exterminarei todo homem, *Dt 32.36;2Rs 14.26escravo ou livre, em Israel, e *1Rs 15.29de todo varrerei a casa de Jeroboão, como se costuma varrer o esterco, até não ficar vestígio. 11 *1Rs 16.4;21.24Quem morrer a Jeroboão na cidade, comê-lo-ão os cães; e quem lhe morrer no campo, comê-lo-ão as aves do céu, pois Jeová o disse. 12 Tu, levanta-te e vai para tua casa; e, *1Rs 14.17ao entrarem os teus pés na cidade, morrerá o menino. 13 Todo o Israel o chorará e o sepultará, porque ele é o único da casa de Jeroboão que entrará na sepultura. Pois dos da casa de Jeroboão nele se achou alguma coisa boa para com Jeová, Deus de Israel. 14 Também *1Rs 15.27-29Jeová suscitará para si um rei sobre Israel, que há de exterminar a casa de Jeroboão nesse dia. Mas que digo eu? Há de ser já. 15 Pois Jeová ferirá a Israel, fazendo-o tal como uma cana que se agita nas águas; e *Dt 29.28;2Rs 17.6desarraigará a Israel *Js 23.15-16desta boa terra que deu aos seus pais e *2Rs 15.29os espalhará além do rio, *Êx 34.13-14;Dt 12.3-4porque fizeram os seus Aserins, provocando Jeová à ira. 16 Entregará a Israel nas mãos dos seus inimigos, *1Rs 12.30;13.34por causa dos pecados de Jeroboão, que pecou e fez pecar a Israel.

17 Levantou-se a mulher de Jeroboão, foi e veio para *1Rs 15.21,33;16.6-9,15,23Tirza; e, *1Rs 14.12ao chegar ela ao limiar da casa, morreu o menino. 18 *1Rs 14.13Todo o Israel o sepultou e o chorou, conforme a palavra que Jeová falou por intermédio do profeta Aías, seu servo.

19 O restante dos atos de Jeroboão, *1Rs 14.30;2Cr 13.2-20como fazia guerras e como reinava, eis que está escrito no Livro das Crônicas dos Reis de Israel. 20 Os dias que reinou Jeroboão foram vinte e dois anos. Adormeceu com seus pais, e, em seu lugar, reinou seu filho Nadabe.

A impiedade de Roboão

21 *2Cr 12.13Roboão, filho de Salomão, reinou em Judá. Roboão tinha quarenta e um anos de idade, quando começou a reinar e reinou dezessete anos em Jerusalém, *1Rs 11.32,36cidade que Jeová escolhera, dentre todas as tribos de Israel, para nela pôr o seu nome. Era o nome de sua mãe Naamá, amonita. 22 *2Cr 12.1,14Judá fez o mal à vista de Jeová; e, com os pecados que cometeram, provocaram-no a zelos muito mais do que tinham feito seus pais. 23 Pois também edificaram para si *Dt 12.2altos, *Dt 16.22colunas e *1Rs 14.15Aserins em cima de todos os elevados outeiros e *2Rs 17.10;Is 57.5;Jr 2.20debaixo de todas as árvores verdes; 24 e havia também *Dt 23.17sodomitas na terra; fizeram conforme todas as abominações das gentes que expulsou Jeová diante dos filhos de Israel.

25 *2Cr 12.2,9-11No quinto ano do rei Roboão, subiu contra Jerusalém Sisaque, rei do Egito. 26 Levou os tesouros da Casa de Jeová e os tesouros da casa do rei; *1Rs 15.18levou tudo. Também *1Rs 10.17levou todos os escudos de ouro que Salomão tinha feito. 27 Em lugar destes, fez Roboão escudos de bronze e os *1Sm 8.11;22.17entregou nas mãos dos capitães da guarda, que guardavam a porta da casa do rei. 28 Todas as vezes que entrava o rei na Casa de Jeová, os da guarda levavam os escudos e os tornavam a pôr na câmara da guarda.

29 *2Cr 12.15-16Ora, o restante dos atos de Roboão, e tudo o que ele fez não estão, porventura, escritos no Livro das Crônicas dos Reis de Judá? 30 *1Rs 12.21-24;15.6Houve guerra sempre entre Roboão e Jeroboão. 31 Roboão adormeceu com seus pais e, com eles, foi sepultado na Cidade de Davi. *1Rs 14.21O nome de sua mãe era Naamá, amonita. Em seu lugar, reinou seu filho Abias.

1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick. 2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people. 3 And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.*14.3 with…: Heb. in thine hand*14.3 cracknels: or, cakes*14.3 cruse: or, bottle 4 And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. 5 And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman. 6 And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.*14.6 heavy: Heb. hard

7 Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel, 8 And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes; 9 But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back: 10 Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone. 11 Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it. 12 Arise thou therefore, get thee to thine own house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die. 13 And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam. 14 Moreover the LORD shall raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now. 15 For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger. 16 And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.

17 And Jeroboam’s wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died; 18 And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the prophet. 19 And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 20 And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.*14.20 slept: Heb. lay down

21 And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess. 22 And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done. 23 For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.*14.23 images: or, standing images, or, statues 24 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

25 And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem: 26 And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made. 27 And king Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields, and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, which kept the door of the king’s house.*14.27 guard: Heb. runners 28 And it was so, when the king went into the house of the LORD, that the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.

29 Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 30 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days. 31 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David.
