Jônatas intercede por Davi

1 Ordenou Saul a Jônatas, seu filho, e a todos os servos *1Sm 18.8-9que matassem a Davi. Porém *1Sm 18.1-3Jônatas, filho de Saul, estava muito afeiçoado a Davi. 2 Disse Jônatas a Davi: Saul, meu pai, procura tirar-te a vida. Agora, guarda-te amanhã pela manhã, fica num lugar oculto e esconde-te. 3 Eu sairei, e me porei ao lado de meu pai no campo em que estiveres, e lhe falarei acerca de ti; *1Sm 20.9,13avisar-te-ei de tudo o que souber. 4 Jônatas *1Sm 20.32falou em favor de Davi a seu pai Saul, e disse-lhe: *Gn 42.22Não peque o rei contra o seu servo, contra Davi, porque ele não tem pecado contra ti e porque as suas ações para contigo têm sido muito boas; 5 *1Sm 17.49-50ele arriscou a vida e matou ao filisteu, e *1Sm 11.13Jeová efetuou um grande livramento para todo o Israel. Tu o viste e te alegraste; *Dt 19.10-13;Sl 94.21por que queres pecar contra o sangue inocente, matando sem causa a Davi? 6 Saul deu ouvidos à voz de Jônatas e jurou, dizendo: Pela vida de Jeová, não se lhe tirará a vida. 7 Chamou Jônatas a Davi e referiu-lhe todas estas coisas. Também Jônatas trouxe Davi a Saul, e Davi ficou na presença dele *1Sm 16.21;18.2,10,13como dantes.

Mical engana a seu pai e salva Davi

8 Renovou-se depois a guerra. Saindo Davi, pelejou contra os filisteus; fez neles uma grande matança, e fugiram de diante dele. 9 *1Sm 16.14;18.10-11O espírito maligno enviado de Jeová veio sobre Saul, estando ele sentado em casa e *1Sm 18.10tendo na mão a sua lança; e *1Sm 16.16Davi tocava a harpa com a sua mão. 10 *1Sm 18.11;20.33Saul procurou atravessar a Davi com a lança contra a parede, mas ele se desviou de diante de Saul, que fincou a lança na parede. Fugiu Davi e escapou naquela noite. 11 *Sl 59, título;Jz 16.2Saul enviou mensageiros à casa de Davi, que a vigiassem e que o matassem pela manhã. Mical, mulher de Davi, disse-lhe: Se não te salvares esta noite, amanhã serás morto. 12 *Js 2.15;2Co 11.33Mical desceu-o por uma janela, e ele foi, fugiu e escapou. 13 Mical tomou o *Gn 31.19;Jz 18.14,17terafim, e deitou-o na cama, e, pondo-lhe à cabeceira uma pele de cabra, cobriu-o com a roupa. 14 Quando Saul enviou mensageiros que prendessem a Davi, ela disse: *Js 2.5Ele está doente. 15 Saul enviou mensageiros que vissem a Davi, dizendo-lhes: Trazei-mo na cama, para que eu lhe tire a vida. 16 Tendo entrado os mensageiros, eis que o terafim estava na cama, tendo à cabeceira a pele de cabra. 17 Perguntou Saul a Mical: Por que me iludiste assim e deixaste ir o meu inimigo, de maneira que escapou? Respondeu Mical a Saul: Foi porque ele me disse: Deixa-me ir, se não eu te mato.

Saul e seus mensageiros profetizam

18 Davi, porém, fugiu e escapou; e, indo ter *1Sm 7.17com Samuel, em Ramá, contou-lhe tudo o que Saul lhe tinha feito. Retiraram-se ele e Samuel e ficaram em *2Rs 6.1-2Naiote. 19 Foi dito a Saul: Eis que Davi está em Naiote, em Ramá. 20 Enviou *1Sm 19.11,14Saul mensageiros para prenderem Davi. Quando viram a *1Sm 10.5-6,10companhia dos profetas profetizando e Samuel presidindo-lhes, veio o Espírito de Deus sobre eles, e *Nm 11.25também profetizaram. 21 Avisado disso Saul, enviou outros mensageiros, que também profetizaram. De novo, enviou terceiros mensageiros, os quais também profetizaram. 22 Então, foi também ele a Ramá e, chegando ao poço grande que está em Secu, perguntou: Onde estão Samuel e Davi? Respondeu-se-lhe: Eis que estão em Naiote, em Ramá. 23 Partiu para Naiote, em Ramá. *1Sm 10.10Veio também sobre ele o Espírito de Deus e ia caminhando e profetizando, até que lá chegou. 24 Ele despiu os seus vestidos, também profetizou diante de Samuel e esteve *Is 20.2nu por terra todo aquele dia e toda aquela noite. Pelo que se diz: *1Sm 10.10-12Está também Saul entre os profetas?

1 And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David. 2 But Jonathan Saul’s son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself: 3 And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.

4 And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good: 5 For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause? 6 And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain. 7 And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.*19.7 in times…: Heb. yesterday, third day

8 And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.*19.8 him: Heb. his face 9 And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand. 10 And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

11 Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David’s wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.

12 So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped. 13 And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.*19.13 image: Heb. teraphim 14 And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick. 15 And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him. 16 And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats’ hair for his bolster. 17 And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

18 So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth. 19 And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah. 20 And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. 21 And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also. 22 Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah. 23 And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah. 24 And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?*19.24 lay: Heb. fell
