Davi vai ter com o sacerdote Aimeleque

1 Veio Davi a *1Sm 22.19Nobe, ao sacerdote *1Sm 14.3;Mc 2.26Aimeleque. *1Sm 16.4Aimeleque saiu, tremendo ao encontro de Davi, e perguntou-lhe: Por que vens só, e ninguém, contigo? 2 Respondeu Davi ao sacerdote Aimeleque: O rei encomendou-me um negócio e disse-me: Não saiba ninguém do negócio pelo qual eu te envio e daquilo que te ordenei; por isso, eu disse aos moços que me encontrassem em tal e tal lugar. 3 Agora, que tens à mão? Ainda que não sejam senão cinco pães, dá-mos ou qualquer outra coisa que se achar. 4 Respondendo o sacerdote a Davi, disse-lhe: Não tenho ao meu alcance pão comum, porém há *Lv 24.5-9;Mt 12.4pão consagrado; se ao menos os moços se têm abstido de mulheres! 5 Davi respondeu ao sacerdote e disse-lhe: Como sempre, quando eu saio à campanha, *Êx 19.14-15foram-nos vedadas as mulheres e consagradas as equipagens dos moços; embora fosse comum, seria santificado hoje pelas equipagens. 6 *Mt 12.3-4;Mc 2.25Deu-lhe o sacerdote do pão consagrado, porque não havia ali pão, senão os pães da proposição, os quais se tinham tirado de diante de Jeová, no dia em que se tiravam para se porem pães quentes.

7 Ora, achava-se ali, naquele dia, detido diante de Jeová, certo homem dentre os servos de Saul cujo nome era *1Sm 14.47;22.9;Sl 52, títuloDoegue, idumeu, o *1Cr 27.29,31principal dos pastores de Saul. 8 Disse Davi a Aimeleque: Não tens aqui à mão uma lança ou uma espada? Pois eu não trouxe comigo nem a minha lança nem as minhas armas, porque o negócio do rei era urgente. 9 Respondeu o sacerdote: *1Sm 17.54A espada de Golias filisteu, a quem mataste *1Sm 17.2no vale de Elá, está aqui envolta num pano atrás do éfode. Se a queres levar, leva-a, porque não há outra aqui, senão essa. Davi disse: Não há outra semelhante a essa; dá-ma.

Davi foge para Aquis, rei de Gate

10 Levantou-se Davi e fugiu, naquele dia, da presença de Saul e foi a *Sl 34, títuloAquis, rei de Gate. 11 Perguntaram-lhe os *Sl 56, títuloservos de Aquis: Este não é Davi, o rei da terra? *1Sm 18.7;29.5Não foi deste que cantavam nas danças, dizendo:

Saul matou os seus milhares,

e Davi, as suas dezenas de milhares?

12 Davi *Lc 2.19guardou estas palavras, meditando-as no seu coração, e teve muito medo de Aquis, rei de Gate. 13 Ele *Sl 34, títulose contrafez diante deles, e fingiu-se doido nas mãos deles, e tamborilava sobre as portas, e deixava correr a saliva pela barba. 14 Disse Aquis aos seus servos: Eis que bem vedes que o homem está louco; por que razão o trouxestes a mim? 15 Faltam-me, porventura, loucos, para que trouxésseis este a fazer loucuras diante de mim? Há de entrar este na minha casa?

1 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?*21.1 Ahimelech: also called Ahiah 2 And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place. 3 Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.*21.3 present: Heb. found 4 And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women. 5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.*21.5 yea…: or, especially when this day there is other sanctified in the vessel 6 So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away. 7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.

8 And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste. 9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.

10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. 11 And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands? 12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath. 13 And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.*21.13 scrabbled: or, made marks 14 Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?*21.14 is mad: or, playeth the mad man 15 Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
