Daniel é aterrorizado pela visão dum homem

1 No terceiro ano de *Dn 1.21;6.28Ciro, rei da Pérsia, uma coisa foi revelada a Daniel, que se chamava *Dn 1.7Beltessazar, e a coisa era *Dn 8.26verdadeira, a saber, uma grande guerra; ele entendeu a coisa e teve *Dn 1.17;2.21entendimento da visão. 2 Naqueles dias, eu, Daniel, *Ed 9.4-5;Ne 1.4pranteava três semanas inteiras. 3 Não comi *Dn 6.18pão algum agradável, nem entrou na minha boca carne nem vinho, nem me untei de óleo algum, até que se cumpriram as três semanas inteiras. 4 No dia vinte e quatro do primeiro mês, estando eu ao lado do grande *Dn 8.2;Ez 1.3rio, que é *Gn 2.14Tigre, 5 levantei os meus olhos e olhei, e eis um homem *Dn 12.6-7;Ez 9.2vestido de linho *Ap 1.13;15.6e cingido pelos lombos com um cinto de *Jr 10.9ouro puro de Ufaz; 6 também o seu corpo era como *Êx 28.20;Ez 1.16o berilo, e o seu *Mt 17.2;Ap 1.16rosto, como a aparência de relâmpago, e os *Ap 1.14;19.12seus olhos, como lâmpadas de fogo, e os seus braços e os seus pés, de cor semelhante ao *Ez 1.7;Ap 1.15;2.18cobre polido, e o som das suas palavras, como o *Ez 1.24som duma multidão. 7 Só *2Rs 6.17eu, Daniel, vi a visão. Pois os *At 9.7homens que estavam comigo não a viram; mas sobre eles caiu um grande *Ez 12.18temor, e fugiram para se esconder. 8 Fui, pois, *Gn 32.24deixado sozinho, e vi essa grande visão, *Dn 7.28;8.27;Hc 3.16e não ficou força em mim; porque se mudou em mim a minha formosura em corrupção, *Dn 10.16e não retive força alguma. 9 Contudo, ouvi o som das suas palavras; quando ouvi o som das suas palavras, já tinha *Dn 8.18;Gn 15.12;Jó 4.13caído com o rosto em terra num profundo sono.

10 Eis que uma mão *Dn 10.16,18;Dn 8.18;9.21;Jr 1.9me tocou e fez-me levantar até ficar sobre os meus joelhos e sobre as palmas das minhas mãos. 11 Ele me disse: Daniel, homem *Dn 10.19;Dn 9.23muito amado, *Dn 8.16-17entende as palavras que vou te dizer *Ez 2.1e levanta-te em pé, pois a ti sou enviado. Tendo ele proferido essa palavra a mim, pus-me em pé, *Jó 4.14-15tremendo. 12 Então, me disse: *Dn 10.19;Is 41.10,14Não tenhas medo, Daniel; porque, desde o primeiro dia em que *Dn 9.3aplicaste o teu coração a entender *Dn 10.2-3;Dn 9.20-23e a humilhar-te diante de teu Deus, foram ouvidas as tuas palavras, e sou vindo *At 10.30-31por causa das tuas palavras. 13 Mas *Dn 10.20o príncipe do reino da Pérsia me resistiu por vinte e um dias; porém eis que *Dn 10.21;Dn 12.1;Jd 9;Ap 12.7Miguel, um dos primeiros príncipes, veio para me ajudar; e eu fiquei ali com os reis da Pérsia. 14 Agora, sou vindo para te fazer *Dn 8.16;9.22entender o que há de suceder ao teu povo *Dn 2.28;Dt 31.29nos últimos dias; pois a visão ainda está para *Dn 8.26;12.4,9muitos dias. 15 Tendo ele falado comigo segundo estas palavras, abaixei o meu rosto para a terra e fiquei *Ez 24.27;Lc 1.20calado. 16 Eis que um que tinha *Dn 10.18;Dn 8.15a semelhança dos filhos dos homens *Is 6.7;Jr 1.9me tocou os lábios; então, abri a minha boca, e falei, e disse ao que estava em pé diante de mim: Meu senhor, por causa da visão, *Dn 10.8-9;Dn 7.15,28;8.17,27apoderam-se de mim as minhas dores, e não retenho força alguma. 17 Pois *Êx 24.10-11;Is 6.1-5como pode o servo do meu senhor falar com o meu senhor? Porque, quanto a mim, logo não ficou em mim *Dn 10.8força alguma, e não me foi deixado fôlego.

Conflitos entre a Pérsia e a Grécia

18 Então, tornou a me tocar um que tinha a *Dn 10.16aparência dum homem *Is 35.3-4e me confortou. 19 Disse: *Dn 10.12;Jz 6.23;Is 43.1Não tenhas medo, homem *Dn 10.11muito amado; paz seja contigo, esforça-te, sim, *Js 1.6-7,9;Is 35.4esforça-te. Quando ele me falou, fiquei fortalecido e disse: Fala, meu senhor, porque *Sl 138.3;2Co 12.9me confortaste. 20 Então, ele disse: Sabes porque eu vim a ti? Agora voltarei a pelejar contra *Dn 10.13o príncipe da Pérsia; e, saindo eu, eis que virá o *Dn 8.21;11.2príncipe da Grécia. 21 Mas eu *Dn 11.2te anunciarei o que está expresso na escritura da *Dn 12.1,4verdade; e ninguém há que esteja ao meu lado contra estes, senão *Dn 10.13Miguel, vosso príncipe.

1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.*10.1 long: Heb. great 2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.*10.2 full…: Heb. weeks of days 3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.*10.3 pleasant…: Heb. bread of desires 4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel; 5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:*10.5 a…: Heb. one man 6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. 7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. 8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.*10.8 comeliness: or, vigour 9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.

10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.*10.10 set: Heb. moved 11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.*10.11 greatly…: Heb. of desires*10.11 upright: Heb. upon thy standing 12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.*10.13 chief: or, first 14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. 15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb. 16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. 17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.*10.17 the…: or, this servant of my lord 18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, 19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me. 20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come. 21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.*10.21 holdeth: Heb. strengtheneth himself
