O sonho dos quatro animais simbólicos

1 No *Dn 8.1primeiro ano de *Dn 5.1-22,30Belsazar, rei de Babilônia, teve Daniel *Dn 1.17;2.1,26-28;4.5-9;Jó 33.14-16;Jl 2.28um sonho e *Dn 7.7,13,15;Gn 15.1;46.2;Ez 1.1;Jl 2.28visões da sua cabeça, estando na sua cama; então, *Jr 36.4,32escreveu o sonho e relatou a soma das coisas. 2 Falou Daniel e disse: Vi na minha *Dn 7.7,13visão noturna, e eis que *Ap 7.1os quatro ventos do céu irrompiam sobre o grande mar. 3 *Dn 7.17Quatro grandes *Ap 13.1animais, diferentes uns dos outros, subiam do mar. 4 O *Dn 7.12primeiro era como um leão e tinha asas de águia; enquanto eu olhava, foram-lhe arrancadas as asas, ele foi levantado da terra e posto em dois pés como um homem, e foi-lhe dado um coração de homem. 5 Eis *Dn 7.12outro animal, o segundo, semelhante a um urso, que se levantou sobre um dos seus lados e tinha três costelas na boca; e diziam-lhe assim: Levanta-te, devora muita carne. 6 Depois disso, estava eu olhando, e eis *Dn 7.12outro, semelhante a um leopardo, que tinha nas costas quatro asas de ave; tinha o animal também quatro cabeças, e foi-lhe dado domínio. 7 Depois disso, vi nas *Dn 7.2visões noturnas, e eis um *Dn 7.19-20,23quarto animal, terrível, e espantoso, e sobremaneira forte; tinha grandes dentes de ferro; devorava, e fazia em pedaços, e pisava aos pés o que sobejava; era diferente de todos os animais que o precediam e tinha *Ap 12.3;13.1dez chifres. 8 Eu considerava os chifres, e eis que entre eles subia *Dn 7.19-26outro chifre, pequenino, diante do qual três dos primeiros chifres foram arrancados; e eis que nesse chifre havia olhos como olhos de homem e uma boca que falava *Dn 7.11,25;Dn 11.36grandes coisas.

O sonho do Antigo de dias e do filho do homem

9 Eu estava olhando até que foram postos uns tronos, e um que era *Dn 7.13,22Antigo de dias se assentou; o seu *Mc 9.3vestido era branco como a neve, e *Ap 1.14os cabelos da sua cabeça, como pura lã; *Ez 1.13,26o seu trono eram chamas de fogo, *Ez 10.2,6e as rodas, do mesmo fogo ardente. 10 De diante dele, manava e saía um *Sl 18.8;50.3;97.3;Is 30.27,33rio de fogo; *Ap 5.11milhares de milhares o serviam, *Dt 33.2e miríades de miríades assistiam diante dele; assentou-se o *Dn 7.22,26;Sl 96.11-13juízo, *Dn 12.1;Ap 20.11-15e abriram-se os livros. 11 Eu estava olhando nesse tempo, por causa da voz das *Dn 7.8grandes palavras que falava o chifre. Eu estava olhando até que foi morto *Dn 7.7o animal e destruído o seu corpo; e ele foi entregue para ser *Ap 19.20;20.10queimado pelo fogo. 12 Quanto aos *Dn 7.3-6outros animais, foi-lhes tirado o seu domínio; todavia, as suas vidas foram prolongadas para uma estação e um tempo.

13 Vi nas *Dn 7.2visões noturnas, e eis que vinha com as nuvens do céu um como *Mt 26.64;Mc 14.62Filho do Homem, que se chegou até o *Dn 7.9,22Antigo de dias; foi apresentado diante dele. 14 Foi-lhe dado *Dn 7.27;1Co 15.27;Ef 1.20-22;Fp 2.9-11;Ap 1.6domínio, e glória, e um reino, para que *Sl 72.11;102.22todos os povos, nações e línguas o servissem; o seu domínio é *Dn 7.27;Dn 6.26um domínio sempiterno, que não passará, e o seu reino tal, que *Hb 12.28não será destruído.

O sonho interpretado

15 Quanto a mim, Daniel, o meu espírito foi contrariado no meio do meu corpo, *Dn 7.1e as visões da minha cabeça *Dn 7.28;Dn 4.19me perturbaram. 16 Cheguei-me a um dos *Zc 1.9,19;Ap 5.5;7.13-14circunstantes e perguntei-lhe a verdade a respeito de tudo isso. Assim, *Dn 8.16-17;9.22ele me disse e fez-me saber a interpretação das coisas: 17 Estes *Dn 7.3grandes animais, que são quatro, são quatro reis que se levantarão da terra. 18 Mas *Dn 7.22,25,27os santos do Altíssimo *Dn 7.14;Sl 149.5-9;Is 60.12-14;Ap 2.26-27;20.4receberão o reino e possuirão o reino para sempre, sim, para todo o sempre. 19 Então, tive desejo de saber a verdade a respeito do *Dn 7.7-8quarto animal, que era diferente de todos eles, sobremaneira terrível, cujos dentes eram de ferro, e as suas unhas, de cobre, que devorava, fazia em pedaços e pisava aos pés o que sobejava; 20 a respeito dos dez chifres que ele tinha na cabeça e a respeito do outro chifre que subiu e diante do qual caíram três, a saber, daquele chifre que tinha olhos, e uma boca que falava grandes coisas, e pareceu ser mais robusto do que os seus companheiros. 21 Eu estava olhando, e o mesmo chifre *Ap 13.7fazia guerra contra os santos e prevalecia contra eles, 22 até que veio *Dn 7.9,13o Antigo de dias, e *Dn 7.10;1Co 6.2-3o juízo foi dado aos *Dn 7.18santos do Altíssimo; e chegou o tempo em que os santos possuíram o reino.

23 Ele disse assim: *Dn 7.7,19O quarto animal será o quarto reino na terra, o qual será diferente de todos os reinos, e devorará toda a terra, e a pisará aos pés, e a fará em pedaços. 24 Quanto aos *Dn 7.7-8dez chifres, deste reino se levantarão dez reis; depois deles, se levantará outro; ele será diferente dos primeiros e abaterá a três reis. 25 Ele *Dn 11.36;Ap 13.6falará palavras contra *Dn 3.26;4.2,17,34o Altíssimo *Ap 13.7e consumirá os santos do Altíssimo; cuidará em *Dn 2.21mudar os tempos e a lei, e os santos lhe serão entregues nas mãos até *Dn 12.7;Ap 12.14um tempo e tempos e metade dum tempo. 26 Mas *Dn 7.10o juízo se assentará, *Ap 17.14;19.20e tirar-lhe-ão o domínio, para o consumir e destruir até o fim. 27 O *Dn 7.14,18,22;Is 54.3;Ap 20.4reino, e o domínio, e a grandeza dos reinos debaixo de todo o céu serão dados ao povo dos *Dn 7.18,22santos do Altíssimo; esse reino é um *Dn 7.14;Dn 2.44;4.34;Sl 145.13;Is 9.7reino sempiterno, e todos os domínios *Sl 2.6-12;22.27;72.11;86.9;Is 60.12;Ap 11.15o servirão e lhe obedecerão. 28 Aqui é o fim do assunto. Quanto a mim, Daniel, muito *Dn 7.15;Dn 4.19me perturbaram os meus pensamentos, e o meu semblante se me mudou; mas *Lc 2.19,51guardei o assunto no meu coração.

1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.*7.1 had: Chaldee, saw*7.1 matters: or, words 2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.*7.4 and it: or, wherewith it 5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.*7.5 it raised…: or, it raised up one dominion 6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. 7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. 8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. 10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.*7.12 their lives…: Chaldee, a prolonging in life was given them 13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.*7.15 body: Chaldee, sheath 16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. 17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. 18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.*7.18 most…: Chaldee, high ones, that is, things, or, places 19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;*7.19 from…: Chaldee, from all those 20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. 23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. 26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.*7.27 dominions: or, rulers 28 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
