O testemunho falso e a injustiça

1 *Êx 20.16Não levantarás um boato falso; não concertarás com o perverso para seres testemunha injusta. 2 Não seguirás a multidão para fazeres o mal; nem darás testemunha numa causa, inclinando-te ao parecer da maioria, para *Dt 16.19;19.16-21;24.17;Sl 35.11perverteres a justiça; 3 *Êx 23.6;Lv 19.15;Dt 1.17;16.19nem favorecerás o pobre na sua causa.

4 *Dt 22.1-4Se encontrares o boi do teu inimigo ou o seu jumento desgarrado, sem falta lho reconduzirás. 5 Se vires caído debaixo da sua carga o jumento daquele que te aborrece, não o deixarás; certamente, com o dono o aliviarás.

6 *Êx 23.2-3Não perverterás a justiça que se deve ao teu pobre na sua causa. 7 *Êx 20.16;Sl 119.29Guarda-te afastado do que é falso. *Êx 20.13;Dt 27.25Não matarás o inocente e o justo, porque *Êx 34.7;Dt 25.1não justificarei o perverso. 8 *Dt 10.17;16.19;Pv 17.23;Is 5.23Não aceitarás peita, pois ela cega aos que têm vista e perverte as palavras dos justos. 9 *Êx 22.21Não oprimirás o peregrino, pois vós conheceis o coração dum peregrino, visto que fostes peregrinos na terra do Egito.

O ano de descanso e o sábado

10 *Lv 25.1-7Seis anos semearás a tua terra e recolherás os seus frutos; 11 porém, no sétimo ano, a deixarás descansar e não a cultivarás, para que os pobres do teu povo achem que comer; e o que estes deixarem servirá de mantimento para os animais do campo. Assim farás com a tua vinha e com o teu olival. 12 *Êx 20.8-11;31.15;35.2-3Seis dias trabalharás e, ao sétimo dia, descansarás, para que descanse o teu boi e o teu jumento e para que se refrigere o filho da tua escrava e o peregrino. 13 *Dt 4.9,23Em tudo o que vos tenho dito, andai apercebidos; *Js 23.7;Sl 16.4não fareis menção do nome de outros deuses, nem o nome deles se ouça da vossa boca.

As três festas

14 *Êx 34.22-24;Dt 16.16Três vezes no ano me celebrarás uma festa. 15 Guardarás a Festa dos Pães Asmos; sete dias comerás pães asmos como te ordenei, ao tempo apontado *Êx 12.2no mês de abibe (pois nele saíste do Egito). *Êx 22.29;34.20Ninguém aparecerá diante de mim com as mãos vazias. 16 *Êx 34.22Guardarás a Festa da Ceifa, das primícias do teu trabalho, do que semeias no campo; e a Festa da Colheita no fim do ano, quando do campo recolheres os produtos do teu trabalho. 17 *Êx 23.14Três vezes no ano todos os teus homens aparecerão diante do Senhor Jeová.

18 *Êx 34.25;Lv 2.11Não oferecerás o sangue do meu sacrifício com pão levedado, *Êx 12.10;Lv 7.15nem ficará a gordura da minha festa durante a noite até pela manhã. 19 *Êx 22.29;34.26As primícias dos teus frutos trarás para a casa de Jeová, teu Deus. *Dt 14.21Não cozerás um cabrito no leite de sua mãe.

Promessa da volta a Canaã

20 Eis que eu envio *Êx 23.23;Êx 3.2;14.19;32.34;33.2um anjo adiante de ti, para que te guarde pelo caminho *Êx 15.16-17e te introduza no lugar que tenho preparado. 21 Estai de sobreaviso diante dele e ouvi a sua voz. *Dt 9.7Não o provoqueis, porque não perdoará a vossa transgressão; pois *Êx 3.14;6.3;34.5-7nele está o meu nome. 22 Mas, se ouvires atentamente a sua voz e fizeres tudo o que eu disser, então, *Gn 12.3;Nm 24.9;Dt 30.7serei inimigo dos teus inimigos e adversário dos teus adversários. 23 *Js 24.11Porque o meu anjo irá diante de ti, e te introduzirá na terra dos amorreus, dos heteus, dos perizeus, dos cananeus, dos heveus e dos jebuseus, e destruí-los-ei. 24 *Êx 20.5;23.13,33Não te inclinarás diante dos seus deuses, nem lhes darás culto, nem farás conforme as suas obras; *Nm 33.52;Dt 7.5;12.3;2Rs 18.4mas totalmente derribarás e quebrarás em pedaços as suas *Êx 34.13;Lv 26.1;2Rs 3.2colunas. 25 *Lv 26.3-13;Dt 28.1-14Servireis a Jeová, vosso Deus, e ele abençoará o vosso pão e a vossa água; e *Êx 15.26;Dt 7.15do meio de vós afastarei as enfermidades. 26 Na tua terra, não haverá mulher que aborte, nem *Dt 7.14estéril; *Dt 4.40;Jó 5.26completarei o número dos teus dias. 27 *Êx 15.16Enviarei o meu terror diante de ti, e *Dt 7.23trarei confusão sobre todo o povo em cujas terras entrares, e farei que todos os teus inimigos te voltem as costas. 28 Enviarei diante de ti *Dt 7.20;Js 24.12vespas, que *Êx 33.2;34.11lançarão de diante de ti os heveus, os cananeus e os heteus. 29 Não os lançarei de diante de ti num só ano, para que não fique a terra reduzida a um ermo e se multipliquem contra ti as feras do campo. 30 *Dt 7.22Pouco a pouco, os lançarei de diante de ti, até que te aumentes e possuas a terra por herança. 31 *Gn 15.18;Dt 1.7-8Porei os teus termos desde o mar Vermelho até o mar dos filisteus e desde o deserto até o rio; *Dt 2.36;Js 21.44pois entregarei às tuas mãos os habitantes da terra, e *Js 24.12,18expulsá-los-ás de diante de ti. 32 *Êx 34.12;Dt 7.2Não farás aliança com eles, *Êx 23.13,24nem com os seus deuses. 33 *Dt 7.1-5,16Eles não habitarão na tua terra, para que te não façam pecar contra mim; pois, se servires os seus deuses, certamente isso te será um tropeço.

3 Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause.

4 If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. 5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.*23.5 and…: or, wilt thou cease to help him? or, and wouldest cease to leave thy business for him: thou shalt surely leave it to join with him 6 Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause. 7 Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.

8 And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.*23.8 the wise: Heb. the seeing

9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.*23.9 heart: Heb. soul

10 And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: 11 But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.*23.11 oliveyard: or, olive trees 12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed. 13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

14 Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year. 15 Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:) 16 And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field. 17 Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the Lord GOD. 18 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread; neither shall the fat of my sacrifice remain until the morning.*23.18 sacrifice: or, feast 19 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.

20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. 22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.*23.22 an adversary…: or, I will afflict them that afflict thee 23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off. 24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images. 25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil. 27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.*23.27 backs: Heb. neck 28 And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee. 29 I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee. 30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land. 31 And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee. 32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. 33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.
