2 *Is 5.26;Jr 50.2Alçai um estandarte sobre um *Jr 51.25monte sem árvores, levantai a voz a eles, *Is 10.32;19.16agitai a mão, para *Is 45.1-3;Jr 51.58que entrem pelas portas dos príncipes. 3 Eu tenho dado ordens aos meus consagrados, tenho chamado *Jl 3.11os meus valentes para executarem a minha ira, a saber, os meus agentes que se exultam arrogantemente. 4 Eis *Is 5.30;17.12;Jl 3.14um tumulto nas montanhas, como o de muito povo! Eis um tumulto dos reinos das nações congregadas! Jeová dos Exércitos está passando revista ao exército para a guerra. 5 *Is 42.13Jeová e os instrumentos da sua *Is 10.5indignação vêm de um país remoto, *Is 5.26;7.18desde a extremidade do céu, *Is 24.1;34.2para destruir a terra toda.

6 Uivai, pois está perto o *Is 13.9;2.12;10.3;34.2,8;61.2;Ez 30.3;Am 5.18;Sf 1.7Dia de Jeová. Virá da parte do Todo-Poderoso como *Is 10.25;14.23;Jl 1.15uma assolação. 7 Portanto, serão remissas todas *Ez 7.17as mãos, e se derreterá todo *Is 19.1;Ez 21.7;Na 2.10coração de homem; 8 *Is 21.3;2Rs 19.26;Jr 46.5perturbados ficarão, e deles se apoderarão ânsias e dores; *Is 26.17;Jr 4.31;Jo 16.21torcer-se-ão como a mulher que está de parto; olharão atônitos uns para os outros; os seus rostos tornar-se-ão rostos flamejantes. 9 Eis que vem *Is 13.6;66.15-16o Dia de Jeová, dia cruel, com furor e ira ardente, para pôr a terra em assolação e para dela exterminar os pecadores. 10 Pois *Is 5.30;Jl 2.10;Mt 24.29;Mc 13.24;Lc 21.25as estrelas do céu e as suas constelações não darão a sua luz; *Is 24.23;50.3;At 2.20o sol se escurecerá ao nascer, e a lua não resplandecerá com a sua luz. 11 *Is 26.21Eu visitarei sobre o mundo a sua maldade e sobre *Is 3.11;11.4;14.5os perversos, a sua iniquidade; farei cessar a *Is 2.11;23.9;Dn 5.22-23arrogância dos soberbos e abaterei a *Jr 48.29altivez dos *Is 25.3;29.5,20;49.25terríveis. 12 Farei que os homens sejam mais *Is 4.1;6.11-12escassos que o ouro fino e que os varões sejam mais escassos do que *1Rs 9.28;Jó 28.16;Sl 45.9o ouro puro de Ofir. 13 Portanto, farei *Is 34.4;51.6estremecer os céus, e a terra *Is 2.19;24.1,19-20;Sl 18.7;Jr 10.10;Am 8.8;Ag 2.6se moverá do seu lugar, na ira de Jeová dos Exércitos e no dia do furor da sua ira. 14 *Is 17.13;21.15;22.3;33.3Como a veada que está perseguida *1Rs 22.17;Mt 9.36;Mc 6.34;1Pe 2.25e como ovelhas que ninguém recolhe, assim cada um voltará para o seu povo e *Is 47.15cada um fugirá para sua terra. 15 Todo o que for achado será *Is 14.19;Jr 50.25;51.3-4traspassado; e todo o que for apanhado cairá pela espada. 16 As suas *Is 13.18;14.21;Sl 137.8-9;Os 10.14;Na 3.10crianças de peito serão despedaçadas diante dos olhos deles; as suas casas serão saqueadas, e suas mulheres, violadas.

17 Eis que suscitarei contra eles os *Is 21.2;Jr 51.11;Dn 5.28,31medos, que não farão caso da prata e que, quanto ao ouro, nele *Pv 6.34-35não terão prazer. 18 Os seus arcos despedaçarão *2Rs 8.12;2Cr 36.17os mancebos; *Is 13.16eles não se compadecerão do fruto do ventre, e os *Ez 9.5,10seus olhos não pouparão as crianças. 19 *Is 21.9;47.5,8;48.14Babilônia, glória dos reinos *Dn 4.30;Ap 18.11-16,19e beleza do orgulho dos caldeus, será como quando Deus *Gn 19.24;Dt 29.23;Jr 49.18;Am 4.11destruiu a Sodoma e a Gomorra. 20 *Is 14.23;34.10-15;Jr 51.37-43Nunca jamais será habitada, nem nela morará alguém de geração em geração; não armará ali *2Cr 17.11o árabe a sua tenda, nem farão os pastores deitar-se ali os seus rebanhos. 21 *Is 34.11-15;Sf 2.14Mas as feras do deserto se deitarão ali, e as suas casas se encherão de hienas; ali, habitarão os avestruzes, e ali dançarão os sátiros. 22 Os lobos uivarão nos castelos de Babilônia, e os chacais, nos seus *Is 25.2;32.14;34.13palácios de luxo. Prestes a chegar é o seu tempo, e os seus dias não se prolongarão.

1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see. 2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. 4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.*13.4 like…: Heb. the likeness of 5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt:*13.7 be faint: or, fall down 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.*13.8 be amazed: Heb. wonder*13.8 one…: Heb. every man at his neighbour*13.8 flames: Heb. faces of the flames 9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. 14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. 15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. 16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished. 17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.*13.19 as…: Heb. as the overthrowing 20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. 21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.*13.21 wild…: Heb.
