A indignação de Deus contra as nações

1 Chegai-vos, *Is 41.1;43.9;Sl 49.1nações, para ouvir, e escutai, povos; *Is 1.2;Dt 32.1ouça a terra e a sua plenitude, o mundo e tudo o que ele produz. 2 Pois Jeová tem *Is 26.20-21indignação contra todas as nações e furor contra todo o seu exército; tem-nas destruído totalmente, *Is 13.5;24.1-2tem-nas entregue à *Is 30.25;63.6;65.12matança. 3 Os seus mortos também serão *Is 5.25;14.19arrojados, subirá o *Jl 2.20;Am 4.10mau cheiro dos seus cadáveres, e os montes serão derretidos pelo seu *Ez 14.19;35.6;38.22sangue. 4 *Is 13.13;51.6;Ez 32.7-8;Jl 2.31;Mt 24.29;2Pe 3.10Todo o exército do céu dissolverá, *Ap 6.12-14e os céus se enrolarão como um livro; todo o seu exército desvanecerá, como cai a folha da vide e da figueira. 5 Pois a minha *Dt 32.41-42;Jr 46.10;Ez 21.3-5espada se tem embriagado no céu; eis que descerá sobre *Is 63.1;Jr 49.20;Ml 1.4Edom e sobre o povo *Is 24.6;43.28devotado por mim à destruição, para exercer juízo. 6 A espada de Jeová está cheia de sangue, está engrossada com gordura, com o sangue de cordeiros e de bodes, com a gordura dos rins de carneiros; porque Jeová tem sacrifício em *Is 63.1;Jr 49.13Bozra e grande matança na terra de *Is 63.1Edom. 7 Descerão com eles *Nm 23.22;Sl 22.21os bois monteses e *Sl 68.30;Jr 50.27os novilhos com os touros; a sua terra *Is 29.9;49.26;63.6embriagar-se-á de sangue, e o seu pó se engrossará de gordura.

8 Pois é o dia da *Is 13.6;35.4;47.3;61.2;63.4vingança de Jeová e o ano da retribuição na controvérsia de Sião. 9 Converter-se-ão em pez as suas torrentes, e o seu pó, em *Is 30.33;Sl 11.6;Dt 29.23enxofre, a sua terra tornar-se-á em pez ardente. 10 Nem de noite nem de dia, *Is 1.31;66.24se apagará; *Ap 14.11;19.3o seu fumo subirá para sempre; *Is 34.10-15;13.20-22;24.1;Ml 1.3-4de geração em geração, ficará deserta; pelos séculos dos séculos, *Ez 29.11ninguém por ela passará. 11 Mas *Is 14.23;Sf 2.14;Ap 18.2o pelicano e o ouriço a possuirão; o bufo e o corvo nela habitarão. Estender-se-á sobre ela a *Is 24.10;2Rs 21.13;Lm 2.8regra de confusão e o prumo de vaidade. 12 Os seus nobres serão chamados ao reino, *Jr 27.20;39.6porém não haverá nenhum; e todos os seus príncipes serão reduzidos *Is 29.20;41.11-12a nada. 13 Nascerão espinhos nos seus *Is 13.22;25.2;32.13palácios, urtigas e cardos, nas suas fortalezas. Será uma habitação de *Sl 44.19;Jr 9.11;10.22chacais, pastagem de avestruzes. 14 *Is 13.21As feras do deserto se encontrarão com as hienas, e os sátiros clamarão uns para os outros; a bruxa se pousará ali e achará para si um lugar de descanso. 15 Ali, fará a serpente o seu ninho, porá os ovos e os chocará; e, debaixo da sua sombra, ajuntará os seus filhotes. Ali, se ajuntarão *Dt 14.13os abutres, macho e fêmea.

16 Buscai *Is 30.8no livro de Jeová e lede; nenhuma dessas criaturas faltará, *Is 14.31nenhuma será privada do seu companheiro, porque *Is 1.20;40.5;58.14a boca de Jeová o ordenou, e o seu Espírito as ajuntou. 17 Ele deitou *Is 17.13-14;Jr 13.25sortes por elas, e a sua mão lhes repartiu por *Is 34.11medida esta terra; possuí-la-ão para sempre; *Is 34.10de geração em geração, nela habitarão.

1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.*34.1 all that…: Heb. the fulness thereof 2 For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. 3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. 4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. 5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. 6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea. 7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.*34.7 unicorns: or, rhinocerots*34.7 soaked: or, drunken 8 For it is the day of the LORD’s vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. 10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.*34.11 cormorant: or, pelican 12 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing. 13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.*34.13 owls: or, ostriches: Heb. daughters of the owl 14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.*34.14 The wild beasts of the desert: Heb. Ijim*34.14 screech…: or, night monster 15 There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.

16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them. 17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
