Isaías 42

Promessa de Jeová ao seu servo

1 *Mt 12.18-21Eis o meu *Is 41.8;43.10;49.3-6;52.13;53.11;Mt 12.18-21;Fp 2.7servo, a quem sustenho; *1Pe 2.4,6o meu escolhido, no qual *Mt 3.17;17.5a minha alma se agrada. Tenho posto sobre ele *Is 11.2;59.21;61.1;Mt 3.16;Lc 4.18-19,21o meu Espírito, e ele fará sair *Is 2.4juízo às nações. 2 Não clamará, nem levantará, nem fará ouvir a sua voz na rua. 3 Não quebrará *Is 57.15a cana rachada, nem apagará a torcida que fumega; com verdade fará sair *Sl 72.2,4;96.13o juízo. 4 Não *Is 40.28se apagará, nem será quebrado, até que estabeleça o juízo na terra; e *Is 42.10,12;11.11;24.15;49.1;51.5;60.9;66.19as ilhas esperarão a sua lei.

5 Assim diz o Deus, Jeová, que *Is 45.18;Sl 102.25-26criou os céus e *Is 40.22;Sl 104.2os estendeu; que alargou *Sl 24.1-2;136.6a terra e o que dela procede; aquele que *Is 57.16;Jó 12.10;33.4;Dn 5.23;At 17.25dá respiração ao povo que está sobre ela e espírito aos que andam nela. 6 Eu, Jeová, *Is 41.2;Jr 23.5-6te chamei em justiça, *Is 41.13;45.1tomar-te-ei pela tua mão, *Is 26.3;27.3conservar-te-ei e te porei para *Is 49.6,8aliança do povo, para *Is 51.4;60.1,3;Lc 2.32luz dos gentios, 7 a fim *Is 29.18;35.5de abrir os olhos cegos, e *Is 49.9;61.1de tirar da prisão os presos, e da casa do cárcere os que estão sentados nas trevas. 8 *Is 43.3,11,15Eu sou Jeová, este é o *Êx 3.15;Sl 83.18meu nome; *Is 48.11;Êx 20.3-5a minha glória, não a darei a outrem, nem o meu louvor, às imagens esculpidas. 9 Eis que *Is 48.3as primeiras coisas já se realizaram, e eu vos anuncio *Is 43.19;48.6novas coisas; antes que sucedam, eu vos farei ouvi-las.

10 Cantai a Jeová *Sl 33.3;40.3;98.1um cântico novo, cantai o seu louvor desde a *Is 49.6;62.11extremidade da terra, *Sl 65.5;107.23vós os que desceis ao mar e *Êx 20.11;1Cr 16.32;Sl 96.11tudo quanto há nele; vós, *Is 42.4ilhas e os que nelas habitam. 11 Levantem a sua voz *Is 32.16;35.1,6o deserto e suas cidades, as aldeias que habita *Is 21.16;60.7Quedar; exultem os habitantes de *Is 16.1Sela, clamem em alta voz do cume dos *Is 52.7;Na 1.15montes. 12 *Is 24.15Deem glória a Jeová e anunciem nas *Is 42.4ilhas o seu louvor. 13 Jeová sairá como valente, despertará o seu *Is 9.7;26.11;37.32;59.17zelo como *Êx 15.3homem de guerra. Exultará, *Os 11.10;Jl 3.16;Am 1.2clamará em alta voz, *Is 66.14-15mostrar-se-á valente contra os seus inimigos.

Israel é reprovado por causa da sua obstinação

14 Já há muito que *Is 57.11;Sl 50.21;Lc 18.7;2Pe 3.9guardo silêncio, que me conservo quieto e que me retenho; agora, darei gritos como a que está de parto, abrirei a boca e ficarei esbaforido a um mesmo tempo. 15 *Is 2.12-16;Ez 38.19-20Farei desertos os montes e outeiros e secarei toda a sua verdura; *Is 44.27;50.2;Na 1.4-6tornarei os rios em ilhas e secarei os lagos. 16 *Is 29.18;30.21;32.3;Jr 31.8-9;Lc 1.78-79Guiarei os cegos por um caminho que não conhecem; por veredas que lhes são desconhecidas fá-las-ei caminhar; *Is 29.18;Ef 5.8tornarei as trevas em luz diante deles e *Is 40.4;Lc 3.5os caminhos tortos, em direitos. Essas coisas lhes farei *Is 41.17;Js 1.5;Sl 94.14;Hb 13.5e não os abandonarei. 17 Tornados para trás e *Is 1.29;44.9,11;45.10;Sl 97.7cobertos de vergonha serão os que confiam em imagens esculpidas e dizem: Vós sois os nossos deuses.

18 *Is 29.18;35.5Ouvi, vós os que sois surdos; e olhai, vós os que sois cegos, para ver. 19 Quem é cego, senão o meu *Is 41.8servo? Ou surdo, como o *Is 44.26meu mensageiro que envio? Quem é cego como aquele que *Is 26.3;27.5tem paz comigo e cego como o servo de Jeová? 20 *Is 43.8;Jr 6.10Vês muitas coisas, porém não observas; ele tem abertos os seus ouvidos, porém não ouve. 21 Foi do agrado de Jeová, *Is 43.25por amor da sua justiça, *Is 42.4;51.4engrandecer a lei e torná-la *Is 58.13gloriosa. 22 Mas este é um povo roubado e saqueado; todos eles estão *Is 24.18enlaçados em cavernas e estão *Is 24.22escondidos nas casas dos cárceres; são postos *Is 10.6como presa, e ninguém os livra; como despojo, e ninguém diz: Restitui.

23 Quem há entre vós que dará ouvidos a isso? Que escutará e ouvirá doravante? 24 *Is 10.5Quem entregou Jacó por despojo e Israel aos roubadores? Acaso, não foi Jeová? Aquele contra quem temos pecado, em cujos caminhos eles *Is 30.15não queriam andar, e cuja lei*Is 48.18;57.17 não queriam observar. 25 Portanto, Jeová derramou sobre Israel *Is 5.25;9.19o furor da sua ira e a violência da guerra; *2Rs 25.9;Jr 21.12;Na 1.6;Sf 1.18isso lhe ateou fogo ao redor; contudo, *Is 1.3;5.13ele não percebeu; e o queimou; contudo, *Is 29.13;47.7;57.1;Os 7.9ele não entendeu.

1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. 2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.*42.3 smoking: or, dimly burning*42.3 quench: Heb. quench it 4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.*42.4 discouraged: Heb. broken

5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: 6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. 9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. 10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.*42.10 all…: Heb. the fulness thereof 11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. 12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.

13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.*42.13 prevail: or, behave himself mightily 14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.*42.14 devour: Heb. swallow, or, sup up 15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools. 16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. 17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see. 19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD’s servant? 20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not. 21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.*42.21 it: or, him 22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.*42.22 they are all…: or, in snaring all the young men of them*42.22 for a spoil: Heb. a treading 23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?*42.23 for…: Heb. for the after time? 24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law. 25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
