Lamentação de Jó ao lembrar-se do seu primeiro estado

1 De novo, prosseguiu no seu *Jó 13.12;27.1;Nm 23.7;24.3discurso e disse:

2 Quem me dera ser como fui nos meses antigos,

como nos dias em que *Jr 31.28Deus me guardava!

3 Quando a sua lâmpada luzia sobre a minha cabeça

e quando eu, *Jó 11.17guiado pela sua luz, caminhava através das trevas;

4 como fui nos dias do meu vigor,

quando *Jó 15.8;Sl 25.14;Pv 3.32a amizade de Deus estava sobre a minha tenda;

5 quando o Todo-Poderoso estava comigo,

e meus filhos me rodeavam;

6 quando meus passos eram banhados em *Jó 20.17;Dt 32.14manteiga

e quando *Dt 32.13a pedra derramava para mim rios de azeite;

7 quando eu saía para ir *Jó 31.21à porta da cidade

e mandava preparar-me um assento na praça.

8 Viam-me os mancebos e escondiam-se,

e os velhos levantavam-se e punham-se em pé.

9 Os príncipes *Jó 29.21cessavam de falar,

*Jó 21.5e punham a mão sobre a sua boca;

10 A voz dos nobres *Jó 29.22emudecia,

e a sua língua apegava-se ao seu paladar.

11 Pois *Jó 4.3-4o ouvido que me ouvia chamava-me bem-aventurado;

e o olho que me via dava testemunho de mim,

12 porque eu livrava *Jó 24.4,9;34.28ao pobre que gritava

*Jó 31.17,21e ao órfão que não tinha quem o socorresse.

13 A bênção do que estava *Jó 31.19a perecer vinha sobre mim,

e eu fazia que o *Jó 22.9, ref.coração da viúva cantasse de alegria.

a minha justiça era como um manto e como um diadema.

15 Fazia-me olhos para o cego

e pés, para o coxo.

16 Eu era o pai *Jó 24.4, ref.dos necessitados

e examinava a causa dos desconhecidos.

17 Eu *Sl 3.7quebrava os queixos do iníquo

e arrancava-lhe a presa dentre os dentes.

18 Então, dizia eu: Morrerei no meu ninho,

multiplicarei os meus dias como a areia.

19 A minha *Jr 17.8raiz se estenderá até as águas,

e o *Os 14.5orvalho ficará a noite toda sobre os meus ramos.

20 A minha glória se renovará em mim,

e o meu *Gn 49.24;Sl 18.34arco será revigorado na minha mão.

21 A mim *Jó 29.9;4.3me ouviam, e esperavam,

e guardavam silêncio para receberem o meu conselho.

22 Depois de falar eu, *Jó 29.10nada replicavam.

23 Esperavam-me como a chuva

e abriam a sua boca como as chuvas tardias.

24 Eu me sorria para eles, quando não tinham confiança;

e a luz do meu rosto, não a podiam abater.

e estava como um rei entre as tropas,
