Jó descreve a sua miséria

1 Então, Jó respondeu:

2 *Jó 31.6Oxalá que, de fato, se pesasse a minha insubmissão,

e juntamente, na balança, se pusesse a minha calamidade!

3 Pois, agora, seria esta *Jó 23.2mais pesada do que a areia dos mares.

Portanto, as minhas palavras foram temerárias.

4 Porque *Jó 16.13;Sl 38.2as setas do Todo-Poderoso estão em mim cravadas,

e o meu espírito suga *Jó 20.16;21.20o veneno delas.

*Jó 30.15Os terrores de Deus se arregimentam contra mim.

5 Zurrará *Jó 39.5-8o asno montês quando tiver erva?

Ou mugirá o boi junto ao seu pasto?

6 Pode comer-se sem sal o que é insípido?

Ou há gosto na clara do ovo?

7 Isto! … A minha alma *Jó 3.24;33.20recusa tocá-lo,

é para mim como comida repugnante.

8 Quem dera que se cumprisse o meu rogo,

e que Deus me concedesse o que anelo!

9 Que fosse *Jó 7.16;9.21;10.1;Nm 11.15;1Rs 19.4do agrado de Deus esmagar-me,

que estendesse a sua mão, e me exterminasse!

10 Então, eu acharia ainda conforto

e exultaria na dor que não poupa;

porque *Jó 22.22;23.11-12não tenho negado as palavras do Santo.

11 Pois que força é a minha, para que eu espere?

Ou qual é o meu fim, para me *Jó 21.4portar com paciência?

12 É a minha força a força de pedras?

Ou é de cobre a minha carne?

13 Não é verdade que *Jó 26.2não há socorro em mim,

e que o ser bem sucedido me é vedado?

14 Ao que está prestes *Jó 4.5a sucumbir deve o amigo mostrar compaixão,

mesmo ao que *Jó 1.5;15.4abandona o temor do Todo-Poderoso.

15 Meus irmãos houveram-se *Jr 15.18aleivosamente como uma torrente,

como o canal de torrentes que desaparecem;

16 as quais se turvam com o gelo,

e nelas se esconde a neve.

17 No tempo em *Jó 24.19que ficam quentes, desvanecem;

quando vem o calor, se fazem secas.

18 As caravanas que acompanham o seu curso se desviam;

sobem ao deserto e perecem.

19 As caravanas de *Gn 25.15;Is 21.14;Jr 25.23Tema viram,

e os viandantes de *Jó 1.15Sabá por elas esperaram.

20 *Jr 14.3Ficaram desapontados por terem esperado,

chegaram ali e ficaram confundidos.

21 Assim, pois, vos assemelhais à torrente;

vedes em mim um terror e tendes medo.

22 Acaso, disse eu: Dai-me um presente?

Ou: Fazei-me uma oferta da vossa fazenda?

23 Ou: Livrai-me da mão do adversário?

Ou: Redimi-me do poder dos opressores?

24 Ensinai-me, e eu me calarei;

e fazei-me entender em que tenho errado.

25 Quão persuasivas são palavras de justiça!

Mas que é o que a vossa arguição reprova?

26 Acaso, pensais em reprovardes palavras,

sendo que *Jó 8.2;15.2;16.3os ditos do homem desesperado são proferidos ao vento?

27 Até quereis *Jl 3.3;Na 3.10deitar sorte sobre *Jó 22.9;24.3,9o órfão

28 Agora, pois, tende a bondade de olhar para mim,

porque, certamente, à vossa face, *Jó 27.4;33.3;36.4não mentirei.

29 Mudai de parecer, vos peço, não haja injustiça;

Sim, mudai de parecer; *Jó 13.18;19.6;23.10;27.5-6;34.5;42.1-6a minha causa é justa.

30 Há injustiça na minha língua?

Não pode *Jó 12.11o meu paladar discernir coisas perniciosas?
