Repreensão dos sacerdotes ímpios

1 Agora, para vós, *Ml 2.7-8;Ml 1.6ó sacerdotes, é este mandamento. 2 Se *Lv 26.14-15;Dt 28.15não ouvirdes e se não aplicardes o vosso coração a dar glória ao meu nome, diz Jeová dos Exércitos, enviarei sobre vós *Dt 28.16-20a maldição e amaldiçoarei as vossas bênçãos; já as tenho *Ml 3.9amaldiçoado, porque não aplicais a isso o vosso coração. 3 Eis que *Lv 26.16;Dt 28.38reprovarei a semente por causa de vós *Na 3.6e atirar-vos-ei à cara com o esterco, sim, com o esterco *Êx 29.14dos vossos sacrifícios; e juntamente com ele sereis levados. 4 Sabereis que vos enviei este mandamento, para que *Nm 3.45;18.21a minha aliança fosse com Levi, diz Jeová dos Exércitos. 5 A minha aliança com ele foi de vida e de *Nm 25.12paz; eu lhas dei para que me temesse, *Nm 25.7-8,13e ele me temeu e teve medo do meu nome. 6 A *Sl 119.142,151,160lei da verdade esteve na sua boca, e a injustiça não se achou nos seus lábios; ele andou *Dt 33.8-9;Sl 37.37comigo em paz e em equidade e da iniquidade *Jr 23.22apartou a muitos. 7 Pois os lábios do sacerdote devem guardar *Lv 10.11;Ne 8.7a ciência, e da sua boca devem os homens *Nm 27.21;Dt 17.8-11procurar a lei; porque ele é o mensageiro de Jeová dos Exércitos. 8 Mas vós vos tendes *Ml 3.7desviado do caminho; e tendes feito a muitos *Jr 18.15tropeçar na lei; tendes *Ez 44.10corrompido a aliança de Levi, diz Jeová dos Exércitos. 9 Portanto, também eu vos tenho feito *Ml 1.7,12desprezíveis e *Ez 7.26vis diante de todo o povo, assim como vós não tendes observado os meus caminhos, mas vos tendes deixado levar de *Dt 1.17;Mq 3.11respeitos humanos na lei.

Os casamentos com mulheres estranhas e o divórcio são ilícitos

10 Não temos todos nós *Is 63.16;64.8;Jr 31.9um mesmo pai? Não nos criou um mesmo Deus? Por que nos havemos *Jr 9.4-5aleivosamente, cada um com seu irmão, profanando a *Êx 19.4-6;24.3,7,8aliança de nossos pais? 11 Judá se tem havido *Jr 3.7-9aleivosamente; e uma abominação se comete em Israel e em Jerusalém; porque Judá tem *Ed 9.1-2profanado a santidade de Jeová, a qual ele ama, e se casou com a filha dum deus estranho. 12 No caso do homem que fizer isso, *Ez 24.21;Os 9.12Jeová exterminará das tendas de Jacó o que vela, e o que responde, e o *Ml 1.10,13que faz ofertas a Jeová dos Exércitos. 13 Ainda fazeis mais isto: cobris de lágrimas, de choro e de gemidos o altar de Jeová, de sorte que ele *Jr 11.14;14.12não olha mais para a oferta, nem a aceitará com prazer da vossa mão. 14 Todavia dizeis: Por quê? Porque Jeová tem sido testemunha entre ti e a mulher da tua mocidade, contra a qual te hás havido *Ml 3.5;Jr 9.2aleivosamente, sendo ela a tua companheira e a mulher da tua aliança. 15 Não fez ele *Gn 2.24;Mt 19.4-5somente um, ainda que lhe sobrava o espírito? E por que somente esse um? Ele buscava *Rt 4.12;1Sm 2.20uma semente pia. Portanto, guardai o vosso espírito, e não se haja alguém *Êx 20.14;Lv 20.10aleivosamente contra a mulher da sua mocidade. 16 Pois aborreço *Dt 24.1;Mt 5.31;19.6-8o divórcio, diz Jeová, Deus de Israel, e aquele que cobre de *Sl 73.6;Is 59.6violência os seus vestidos, diz Jeová dos Exércitos. Portanto, guardai o vosso espírito, para que não vos hajais aleivosamente.

17 Tendes *Is 43.22,24enfadado a Jeová com as vossas palavras. Todavia dizeis: Em que o temos enfadado? Nisto que dizeis: *Is 5.20;Sf 1.12Todo o que faz o mal é bom aos olhos de Jeová, e nestes tais ele *Jó 9.24se deleita; ou onde está o Deus do *Is 5.19;Jr 17.15juízo?

1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. 2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. 3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.*2.3 corrupt: or, reprove*2.3 spread: Heb. scatter*2.3 one…: or, it shall take you away to it 4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts. 5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name. 6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. 7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. 8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.*2.8 stumble at: or, fall in 9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.*2.9 have been…: or, lifted up the face against: Heb. accepted faces

10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

11 Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.*2.11 loved: or, ought to love 12 The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.*2.12 the master…: or, him that waketh, and him that answereth 13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.

14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. 17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
