Jesus atravessa o Jordão

1 *vd.Mt 7.28Tendo Jesus dito estas palavras, deixou a Galileia *Mt 19.1-9;Mc 10.1-12e foi para os confins da Judeia, além do Jordão. 2 Seguiram-no grandes multidões, *vd.Mt 4.23e ali curou os doentes.

A questão do divórcio

3 Vieram a ele alguns fariseus e o experimentaram, perguntando: *Mt 5.31É lícito a um homem repudiar sua mulher por qualquer causa? 4 Respondeu Jesus: *Gn 1.27;5.2Não tendes lido que o Criador, desde o princípio, os fez homem e mulher 5 e disse: *Ef 5.31;Gn 2.24Por esta razão o homem deixará seu pai e sua mãe e se unirá a sua mulher, *1Co 6.16e os dois se tornarão uma só carne? 6 Assim já não são dois, mas uma só carne. Portanto, o que Deus ajuntou, não o separe o homem. 7 Replicaram-lhe: *Dt 24.1-4Por que, então, mandou Moisés dar carta de divórcio e repudiar a mulher? 8 Respondeu Jesus: Por causa da dureza do vosso coração é que Moisés vos permitiu repudiar vossas mulheres, mas não foi assim desde o princípio. 9 Eu vos digo que *Mt 5.32aquele que repudiar sua mulher, exceto por infidelidade, e casar com outra comete adultério.*Alguns manuscritos inserem: e o que se casar com a repudiada, comete adultério.10 Disseram-lhe os discípulos: Se tal é a condição de um homem para com sua mulher, não convém casar. 11 Mas ele respondeu: *1Co 7.7-11,17Nem todos podem aceitar esse conceito, mas somente *vd.Mt 13.11aqueles a quem é dado. 12 Pois há eunucos, que nasceram assim; há outros a quem os homens fizeram tais; e outros há que se fizeram eunucos por causa do reino dos céus. Quem pode aceitar isso, aceite-o.

Jesus abençoa os meninos

13 *Mt 19.13-15;Mc 10.13-16;Lc 18.15-17Então lhe trouxeram alguns meninos, para que lhes impusesse as mãos e orasse por eles; e os discípulos repreenderam aos que os trouxeram. 14 Jesus, porém, disse: *Mt 18.3;Mc 10.15;Lc 18.17; cp.1Co 14.20;1Pe 2.2Deixai os meninos e não os impeçais de virem a mim; porque dos tais é *vd.Mt 5.3o reino dos céus. 15 Depois de lhes impor as mãos, partiu dali.

O moço rico

16 *Mt 19.16-29;Mc 10.17-30;Lc 18.18-30; cp.Lc 10.25-28Chegou um moço e perguntou-lhe: Mestre, que coisa boa farei para ter a *vd.Mt 25.46vida eterna? 17 Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Por que me perguntas sobre o que é bom? Um há que é bom; mas, *Lv 18.5;Ne 9.29;Ez 20.21se queres entrar na vida, guarda os mandamentos. 18 Ele inquiriu: Quais? Respondeu Jesus: *Êx 20.12;Dt 5.16-20Não matarás, não adulterarás, não furtarás, não dirás falso testemunho, 19 *cp.Mt 15.4honra a teu pai e a tua mãe *Mt 22.39;Lv 19.18; cp.Mt 7.12e amarás ao teu próximo como a ti mesmo. 20 Replicou-lhe o moço: Tudo isso tenho guardado; que me falta ainda? 21 Disse-lhe Jesus: Se queres ser perfeito, *Lc 12.33; cp.Lc 16.9;At 2.45;4.34s.vai vender tudo o que tens, e dá-o aos pobres, e terás um *Mt 6.20tesouro nos céus; depois, vem seguir-me. 22 O moço, porém, ouvindo esses preceitos, retirou-se triste, porque tinha muitos bens.

O perigo das riquezas. A parábola dos trabalhadores na vinha

23 Jesus declarou a seus discípulos: Em verdade vos digo que *cp.Mt 13.22;Mc 10.23s.;Lc 18.24um rico dificilmente entrará no reino dos céus. 24 Também vos digo que *Mc 10.25;Lc 18.25mais fácil é passar um camelo pelo fundo de uma agulha do que entrar um rico no reino de Deus. 25 Ouvindo isso, ficaram os discípulos muito admirados e perguntaram: Quem pode, porventura, ser salvo? 26 Jesus, volvendo os olhos para eles, respondeu: *Gn 18.14;Jó 42.2;Jr 32.17;Zc 8.6;Mc 10.27;Lc 18.27; cp.Lc 1.37Aos homens é isso impossível, mas a Deus tudo é possível. 27 Então Pedro lhe disse: E nós, que deixamos tudo e te seguimos, que receberemos? 28 Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Em verdade vos digo que vós que me seguistes, quando, na regeneração, *Mt 25.31o Filho do Homem se assentar no trono da sua glória, *Lc 22.30; cp.Ap 3.21;4.4;11.16;20.4sentar-vos-eis também em doze tronos, para julgardes as doze tribos de Israel. 29 *Mc 10.29s.;Lc 18.29s.; cp.Mt 6.33Todo o que tem deixado casas, irmãos, irmãs, pai, mãe, filhos ou terras por causa do meu nome receberá muitas vezes mais e herdará a vida eterna. 30 *Mt 20.16;Mc 10.31;Lc 13.30Porém muitos que são primeiros serão os últimos; e muitos que são últimos serão os primeiros.

1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan; 2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? 4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. 11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. 12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. 15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. 30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
