A contenda de Jeová com Israel

1 *Os 5.1Ouvi a palavra de Jeová, filhos de Israel, pois Jeová tem *Os 12.2;Mq 6.2uma contenda com os habitantes da terra, porque na terra *Is 59.4;Jr 7.28não há verdade, *Os 6.6nem misericórdia, nem *Os 4.6;Os 5.4conhecimento de Deus. 2 Não há senão *Os 10.4o jurar, *Os 7.3;10.13;11.12e o mentir, *Os 6.9e o matar, *Os 7.1e o furtar, *Os 7.4e o adulterar; cometem violências, *Os 6.8;12.14e homicídios sucedem a homicídios. 3 Portanto, a terra *Is 24.4;33.9pranteará, e todo o que nela habita desfalecerá juntamente com os *Jr 4.25animais do campo e com as aves do céu; e até serão tirados os peixes do mar. 4 Todavia, não *Ez 3.26;Am 5.10,13contenda alguém e não repreenda alguém, porque o teu povo é como os que *Dt 17.12contendem com o sacerdote. 5 *Os 5.5;Ez 14.3,7Tropeçarás de dia, e o profeta, contigo, tropeçará de noite; e destruirei tua *Os 2.2,5mãe.

6 *Os 4.1;Os 5.4Por falta de conhecimento, foi destruído o meu povo. Porque *Ml 2.7-8tu rejeitaste o conhecimento, também eu *Os 4.14;Zc 11.8-9,15-17te rejeitarei a ti, para que não me sirvas de sacerdote; visto que *Os 2.13;8.14;13.6tu te esqueceste da *Os 8.1,12lei do teu Deus, também eu me esquecerei de teus filhos. 7 Como eles *Os 10.1;13.6se multiplicaram, assim pecaram contra mim; *Hc 2.16eu mudarei a sua glória *Os 4.18em ignomínia. 8 *Os 10.13Alimentam-se dos pecados do meu povo *Is 56.11;Mq 3.11e, de coração, desejam a iniquidade dele. 9 *Is 24.2;Jr 5.31O sacerdote será como o povo, *Os 8.13;9.9e visitarei sobre ele os seus caminhos e lhe darei a recompensa dos seus feitos. 10 Eles *Lv 26.26;Is 65.13;Mq 6.14comerão e não se fartarão; *Os 7.4cometerão fornicação e não se multiplicarão, *Os 9.17porque deixaram de fazer caso de Jeová.

11 *Os 5.4A fornicação, e o vinho, e o mosto *Is 5.12;28.7tiram o entendimento. 12 O meu povo *Is 44.19;Jr 2.27consulta ao seu pau, e a sua vara lhe dá respostas; porque *Os 5.4o espírito de fornicação os enganou, *Os 9.1e fornicaram, apartando-se do seu Deus. 13 Oferecem sacrifícios sobre *Jr 3.6os cumes dos montes *Os 2.13;11.2e queimam incenso sobre os outeiros, *Jr 2.20debaixo dos carvalhos, choupos e terebintos, porque é boa a sua sombra; portanto, vossas filhas se dão à fornicação, e vossas noivas cometem adultério. 14 Não castigarei vossas filhas, quando fornicarem, nem vossas noivas, quando cometerem adultério; porque eles *Os 4.18;Os 7.4se retiram com as meretrizes e com *Dt 23.17as prostitutas sacrificam; e o povo que *Os 4.6,11;Os 5.4não tem entendimento será subvertido.

15 Embora tu, Israel, te entregues à fornicação, contudo, não se torne culpado Judá; não venhais a *Os 9.15;12.11Gilgal, nem subais a *Os 5.8;10.5,8;1Rs 12.28-29Bete-Áven, *Jr 5.2;44.26nem jureis, dizendo: Pela vida de Jeová. 16 Pois Israel procede *Sl 78.8obstinadamente como novilha obstinada; agora, *Is 5.17;7.25os apascentará Jeová a eles como um cordeiro num lugar espaçoso. 17 Efraim é dado *Os 13.2a ídolos; *Os 4.4;Sl 81.12deixa-o. 18 Já se foi a sua bebida; *Os 4.14dedicam-se à fornicação; os seus príncipes estão enamorados da *Os 4.7vergonha. 19 *Os 12.1;13.15O vento envolveu-o nas suas asas; e envergonhar-se-ão por causa dos seus *Os 4.13-14sacrifícios.

1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.*4.2 blood: Heb. bloods 3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. 4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. 5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.*4.5 destroy: Heb. cut off

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.*4.6 destroyed: Heb. cut off 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. 8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.*4.8 set…: Heb. lift up their soul to 9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.*4.9 punish: Heb. visit upon*4.9 reward: Heb. cause to return 10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD. 11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

12 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God. 13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery. 14 I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.*4.14 I will not: or, Shall I not*4.14 fall: or, be punished

15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, The LORD liveth. 16 For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place. 17 Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone. 18 Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.*4.18 sour: Heb. gone*4.18 rulers: Heb. shields 19 The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
