O poder da vida cristã. A vitória e o testemunho da fé

1 *1Jo 4.2;1Jo 4.15; cp.1Jo 2.22s.Todo o que crê que Jesus é o Cristo *cp.1Jo 5.4,18;1Jo 2.29;Jo 1.13;3.3é nascido de Deus; e todo o que ama ao que gerou *Jo 8.42ama também ao que dele tem sido gerado. 2 *1Jo 2.5Por isto sabemos que *1Jo 3.14amamos aos filhos de Deus: quando amarmos a Deus e guardarmos os seus mandamentos. 3 Pois *Jo 14.15; cp.2Jo 6este é o amor de Deus: que *1Jo 2.3guardemos os seus mandamentos; *Mt 11.30; cp.Mt 23.4e os seus mandamentos não são penosos, 4 pois tudo o que é nascido de Deus *1Jo 2.13;4.4vence ao mundo; e esta é a vitória que venceu o mundo: a nossa fé. 5 Quem é o que vence o mundo, senão aquele que *1Jo 4.15; cp.1Jo 5.1crê que Jesus é o Filho de Deus? 6 Este é Jesus Cristo, que veio *Jo 19.34por meio de água e sangue; não só com a água, mas com a água e com o sangue; 7 e *Jo 15.26;16.13-15; cp.Mt 3.16s. (?)o Espírito é o que dá testemunho, porque o Espírito é a verdade. 8 Pois *Mt 18.16três são os que dão testemunho: o Espírito, a água e o sangue, e estes três concordam. 9 *Jo 5.34,37;8.18Se nós aceitamos o testemunho dos homens, o testemunho de Deus é maior; porque o testemunho de Deus consiste em *cp.Mt 3.17;Jo 5.32,37ter ele dado testemunho de seu Filho. 10 Quem crê no Filho de Deus *Rm 8.16;Gl 4.6; cp.Ap 12.17tem, em si, o testemunho. Quem não crê a Deus o tem *1Jo 1.10; cp.Jo 3.18,33feito mentiroso, porque não tem crido no testemunho que Deus dá de seu Filho. 11 Esse testemunho é que Deus nos deu a *1Jo 5.13,20;1Jo 1.2;2.25; cp.1Jo 4.9vida eterna, e *Jo 1.4essa vida está em seu Filho. 12 *Jo 3.15-16,36Quem tem o Filho tem a vida; quem não tem o Filho de Deus não tem a vida.

A atividade e a confiança da vida cristã

13 *Jo 20.31Essas coisas vos escrevo, para que saibais que tendes a *1Jo 5.11vida eterna, escrevo a vós que *1Jo 3.23credes no nome do Filho de Deus. 14 Esta é a *1Jo 3.21s.;1Jo 2.28confiança que temos para com ele: que, *1Jo 3.22;Mt 7.7;Jo 14.13se lhe pedirmos alguma coisa conforme a sua vontade, ele nos ouve. 15 Se sabemos que ele nos ouve em tudo quanto pedirmos, *1Jo 5.18-19,20sabemos que temos as coisas que a ele temos pedido. 16 Se alguém vir seu irmão cometer um pecado que não é para morte, *Tg 5.15pedirá, e Deus lhe dará a vida, para aqueles que não pecam para morte. *Hb 6.4-6;10.26; cp.Nm 15.30Há pecado que é para morte, e *cp.Jr 7.16;14.11por este não digo que alguém rogue. 17 *1Jo 3.4Toda injustiça é pecado, *cp.1Jo 2.1s.;1Jo 5.16e há pecado que não é para morte.

18 Sabemos que *1Jo 3.9todo aquele que é nascido de Deus não peca; pelo contrário, Aquele que nasceu de Deus *cp.Tg 1.27;Jd 21guarda-o, e *1Jo 2.13o Maligno *cp.Jo 14.30não o segura. 19 Sabemos *1Jo 4.6que somos de Deus, *cp.Jo 12.31;17.15;Gl 1.4e o mundo inteiro está no Maligno. 20 Sabemos mais: que *1Jo 5.5; cp.Jo 8.42o Filho de Deus veio e que *cp.Lc 24.45nos deu entendimento, para que conheçamos *Jo 17.3;Ap 3.7o verdadeiro; e *cp.Jo 1.18;14.9;1Jo 2.23;Ap 3.7nós estamos no verdadeiro, isto é, em seu Filho, Jesus Cristo. *cp.1Jo 1.2Este é o verdadeiro Deus e *1Jo 5.11a vida eterna. 21 *1Jo 2.1Filhinhos, guardai-vos dos *1Co 10.7,14;1Ts 1.9ídolos.

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. 3 For this is loving God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three who testify:*5:7 Only a few recent manuscripts add "in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that testify on earth:" 8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son. 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn’t believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. 11 The testimony is this: that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.

13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

14 This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. 15 And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.

16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I don’t say that he should make a request concerning this. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.

18 We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him. 19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20 We know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
