A adversidade do povo é devida à sua infidelidade

1 *Ag 2.10;Ag 1.1,15No sétimo mês, aos vinte e um dias do mês, veio a palavra de Jeová por intervenção do profeta *Ag 1.1Ageu, dizendo: 2 Fala, agora, a Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, governador de Judá, e ao sumo sacerdote Josué, filho de Jeozadaque, e ao *Ag 1.12resto do povo: 3 Dentre os *Ed 3.12que ficaram de vós, quais são os que viram esta casa na sua *Ag 2.9primeira glória? E em que estado a vedes vós agora? Acaso, não é como nada nos vossos olhos? 4 Todavia, agora, *Dt 31.23;1Cr 22.13;28.20;Zc 8.9;Ef 6.10esforça-te, Zorobabel, diz Jeová; esforça-te, Josué, sumo sacerdote, filho de Jeozadaque; e esforçai-vos, todo o povo da terra, diz Jeová, e trabalhai; porque *2Sm 5.10;At 7.9eu sou convosco, diz Jeová dos Exércitos, 5 segundo a palavra da aliança que *Êx 19.4-6;33.12-14;34.8-10fiz convosco, quando saístes do Egito, e o *Ne 9.20;Is 63.11,14meu Espírito habitou entre vós; *Is 41.10,13;Zc 8.13não tenhais medo. 6 Pois assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: *Hb 12.26Ainda uma vez *Is 10.25;29.17falta um pouco, e eu *Ag 2.21;Jr 4.23-26comoverei os céus, e a terra, e o mar, e a terra seca; 7 comoverei *Dn 2.44;Jl 3.9,16todas as nações, *Is 60.4-9e as coisas preciosas de todas as nações virão, *1Rs 8.11;Is 60.7e encherei de glória esta casa, diz Jeová dos Exércitos. 8 Minha é a *1Cr 29.14,16;Is 60.17prata, meu é o ouro, diz Jeová dos Exércitos. 9 A última *Zc 2.5glória desta casa será maior do que a *Ag 2.3primeira, diz Jeová dos Exércitos; e neste lugar darei a *Is 9.6-7;66.12paz, diz Jeová dos Exércitos.

Repreensão e promessa de bênção

10 Aos *Ag 2.1-20;Ag 1.1,15vinte e quatro dias do nono mês, no segundo ano de Dario, veio a palavra de Jeová por intervenção do profeta Ageu, dizendo: 11 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: *Dt 17.8-11;Ml 2.7Pede, agora, aos sacerdotes instrução sobre este ponto: 12 Se um homem trouxer na orla do seu vestido *Êx 29.37;Lv 6.27,29;7.6;Ez 44.19;Mt 23.19carne santa e tocar com a sua orla no pão, ou no guizado, ou no vinho, ou no azeite, ou em qualquer coisa de comer, acaso se tornará santa? Responderam os sacerdotes: Não. 13 Então, perguntou Ageu: *Lv 22.4-6;Nm 19.22Se alguém que for contaminado por um corpo morto, tocar em qualquer dessas coisas, ficará ela imunda? Responderam os sacerdotes: Ficará imunda. 14 Então, prosseguiu Ageu: *Pv 13.8;Is 1.11-15Assim é que este povo, e assim é que esta nação está diante de mim, diz Jeová; assim está toda a obra das suas mãos; imundo é tudo o que ali oferecem. 15 Agora, *Ag 2.18;Ag 1.5,7considerai desde este dia e para trás, antes que se lançasse *Ed 3.10;4.24pedra sobre pedra no templo de Jeová; 16 durante todo esse tempo, quando alguém vinha a um montão de trigo de vinte medidas, havia tão somente *Ag 1.6,10-11;Zc 8.10-12dez; quando vinha ao lagar para tirar cinquenta talhas, havia tão somente vinte. 17 Feri-vos com *Dt 28.22;1Rs 8.37;Am 4.9mangra, e com ferrugem, e com saraiva em todas as obras das vossas mãos; todavia, vós *2Cr 28.22;Is 9.13;Sf 3.7não vos convertestes a mim, diz Jeová. 18 *Ag 2.15;Dt 32.29Considerai, desde este dia e para trás, desde *Ag 2.10o vigésimo quarto dia do nono mês, desde o dia em que foram lançados *Ed 5.1-2;Zc 8.9,12os alicerces do templo de Jeová, considerai-o. 19 Acaso, acha-se a semente no celeiro? Demais, a vinha, e a figueira, e a romeira, e a oliveira não têm produzido; desde este dia, *Sl 128.1-6;Jr 31.12,14;Ml 3.10hei de abençoar.

A promessa de Deus

20 Pela segunda vez, veio a palavra de Jeová a Ageu, aos *Ag 2.10vinte e quatro dias do mês, dizendo: 21 Fala *Ag 1.1,14;Ed 5.2;Zc 4.6-10a Zorobabel, governador de Judá: Eu *Ag 2.6;Ez 38.19-20;Hb 12.26-27comoverei os céus e a terra, 22 subverterei *Ez 26.16;Sf 3.8o trono de reinos e destruirei a *Mq 7.16força dos reinos das nações; subverterei os *Sl 46.9;Ez 39.20;Mq 5.10carros e os que neles montam; *Am 2.15os cavalos e os seus cavaleiros cairão, *Jz 7.22;2Cr 20.23cada um pela espada de seu irmão. 23 Naquele dia, diz Jeová dos Exércitos, tomar-te-ei, meu servo Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, diz Jeová, e far-te-ei *Ct 8.6;Jr 22.24como um selo, *Is 42.1;43.10porque te hei escolhido, diz Jeová dos Exércitos.

1 In the seventh month, in the twenty-first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 2 "Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying, 3 ‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn’t it in your eyes as nothing? 4 Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says Yahweh. ‘Be strong, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ says Yahweh, ‘and work, for I am with you,’ says Yahweh of Armies. 5 This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you. ‘Don’t be afraid.’ 6 For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Yet once more, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land; 7 and I will shake all nations. The treasure of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies. 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says Yahweh of Armies. 9 ‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of Armies; ‘and in this place I will give peace,’ says Yahweh of Armies."

10 In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 11 "Yahweh of Armies says: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying, 12 ‘If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’"

The priests answered, "No."

13 Then Haggai said, "If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?"

The priests answered, "It will be unclean."

14 Then Haggai answered, "‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean. 15 Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple. 16 Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty. 17 I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says Yahweh. 18 ‘Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it. 19 Is the seed yet in the barn? Yes, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree haven’t produced. From today I will bless you.’"

20 Yahweh’s word came the second time to Haggai in the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying, 21 "Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, ‘I will shake the heavens and the earth. 22 I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them. The horses and their riders will come down, everyone by the sword of his brother. 23 In that day, says Yahweh of Armies, I will take you, Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says Yahweh, ‘and will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’ says Yahweh of Armies."
