Israel será castigado por causa das suas opressões

1 Ouvi esta palavra, vacas de *Sl 22.12;Ez 39.18Basã, que estais no *Am 3.9;6.1monte de Samaria, que *Am 5.11;8.6oprimis os pobres, que quebrantais os necessitados, que dizeis aos vossos senhores: Dai cá, e *Am 2.8;6.6bebamos. 2 O Senhor Jeová *Am 6.8;8.7jurou pela sua *Sl 89.35santidade que virão sobre vós os dias em que vos levarão com *Is 37.29;Ez 38.4ganchos e as vossas relíquias, com *Ez 29.4anzóis. 3 *Jr 52.7Saireis pelas brechas, cada qual em frente de si; e sereis lançadas para Harmom, diz Jeová.

4 Vinde a *Am 3.14;5.5Betel e transgredi; a *Am 5.5;Os 4.15Gilgal e multiplicai transgressões; *Am 5.21-22trazei os vossos sacrifícios todas as manhãs e os vossos dízimos, de três em três dias; 5 do que é levedado, oferecei um sacrifício de *Lv 7.13ação de graças, e proclamai *Lv 22.18-21ofertas voluntárias, e publicai-as; pois isso *Os 9.1,10;Jr 7.9-10é do vosso agrado, ó filhos de Israel, diz o Senhor Jeová.

Os castigos anteriores foram sem efeito

6 Eu também vos dei *Is 3.1;Jr 14.18limpeza de dentes em todas as vossas cidades e falta de pão, em todos os vossos lugares; contudo, não vos tendes *Is 9.13;Jr 5.3;Ag 2.17voltado para mim, diz Jeová. 7 Eu também *Dt 11.17;2Cr 7.13;Is 5.6retive de vós a chuva, quando ainda faltavam três meses até a ceifa; fiz que chovesse sobre *Êx 9.4,25;10.22-23uma cidade, e que não chovesse sobre outra cidade; um campo recebeu a chuva e o campo que não recebeu a chuva, secou. 8 Assim, duas ou três cidades andaram errantes a uma cidade para beberem *1Rs 18.5;Jr 14.4água *Ez 4.16;Ag 1.6e não se saciaram; contudo, *Jr 3.7não vos tendes voltado para mim, diz Jeová. 9 *Dt 28.22;Ag 2.17Feri-vos com mangra e bolor; a multidão das vossas hortas, e das vossas vinhas, e das vossas figueiras, e das vossas oliveiras, comeu-a *Am 7.1-2;Jl 1.4,7a lagarta; contudo, *Jr 3.10não vos tendes voltado para mim, diz Jeová. 10 Enviei entre vós *Lv 26.25;Dt 28.27,60a peste à maneira do Egito; matei à espada *Jr 11.22;18.21;48.15os vossos mancebos e levei *2Rs 13.3,7os vossos cavalos; fiz chegar aos vossos narizes *Jl 2.20o mau cheiro do vosso arraial; contudo, *Is 9.13não vos tendes voltado para mim, diz Jeová. 11 Subverti alguns dentre vós, como *Gn 19.25;Dt 29.23Deus subverteu a Sodoma e a Gomorra, e ficastes sendo como um *Zc 3.2tição que se arrebata de um incêndio; contudo, *Jr 23.14não vos tendes voltado para mim, diz Jeová.

12 Portanto, *Am 4.2assim te farei, ó Israel; e, porque te farei isso, prepara-te, Israel, *Is 32.11;64.2;Jr 5.22a encontrares com teu Deus. 13 Pois eis quem *Jó 38.4-7;Sl 65.6;Is 40.12forma os montes, *Sl 135.7;Jr 10.13e cria o vento, *Sl 139.2;Dn 2.30e declara ao homem qual seja o seu pensamento; quem *Am 5.8;Jr 13.16;Jl 2.2faz da manhã trevas *Mq 1.3e anda sobre os lugares altos da terra; *Am 5.8,27;9.6Jeová Deus dos Exércitos é o seu nome.

1 Listen to this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who tell their husbands, "Bring us drinks!"

2 The Lord Yahweh has sworn by his holiness,

"Behold, the days shall come on you that they will take you away with hooks,

and the last of you with fish hooks.

3 You will go out at the breaks in the wall,

everyone straight before her;

and you will cast yourselves into Harmon," says Yahweh.

4 "Go to Bethel, and sin;

to Gilgal, and sin more.

Bring your sacrifices every morning,

your tithes every three days,

5 offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of that which is leavened,

and proclaim free will offerings and brag about them;

for this pleases you, you children of Israel," says the Lord Yahweh.

6 "I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities,

and lack of bread in every town;

yet you haven’t returned to me," says Yahweh.

7 "I also have withheld the rain from you,

when there were yet three months to the harvest;

and I caused it to rain on one city,

and caused it not to rain on another city.

One field was rained on,

and the field where it didn’t rain withered.

8 So two or three cities staggered to one city to drink water,

and were not satisfied;

yet you haven’t returned to me," says Yahweh.

9 "I struck you with blight and mildew many times in your gardens and your vineyards,

and the swarming locusts have devoured your fig trees and your olive trees;

yet you haven’t returned to me," says Yahweh.

10 "I sent plagues among you like I did Egypt.

I have slain your young men with the sword,

and have carried away your horses.

I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camp,

yet you haven’t returned to me," says Yahweh.

11 "I have overthrown some of you,

as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,

and you were like a burning stick plucked out of the fire;

yet you haven’t returned to me," says Yahweh.

12 "Therefore I will do this to you, Israel;

because I will do this to you,

prepare to meet your God, Israel.

13 For, behold, he who forms the mountains, creates the wind, declares to man what is his thought,

who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth:

Yahweh, the God of Armies, is his name."
