O perigo da desobediência

1 Por essa razão, é necessário atendermos, mais assiduamente, às coisas que ouvimos, 2 para que não suceda que delas nos *Pv 3.21desviemos. Pois, se a *vd.Hb 1.1palavra falada pelos *vd.At 7.53anjos ficou firme, *Hb 10.28e toda transgressão e desobediência receberam justa retribuição, 3 *Hb 10.29;12.25como escaparemos nós, se tivermos descuidado de tão grande *Hb 1.14;5.9;9.28; vd.Rm 11.14;1Co 1.21salvação? A qual, tendo sido anunciada ao princípio mediante o Senhor, foi *Mc 16.20;Lc 1.2; cp.1Jo 1.1confirmada a nós pelos que a ouviram; 4 dando Deus testemunho juntamente com eles, *vd.Jo 4.48por milagres, e prodígios, e por *Mc 6.14múltiplos poderes, *1Co 12.4,11;Ef 4.7e dons do Espírito Santo, distribuídos *vd.Ef 1.5segundo a sua vontade.

Jesus, pela sua morte, é coroado de glória; o nosso sumo sacerdote é idôneo e compassivo

5 Pois não a anjos sujeitou Deus o *Hb 6.5; vd.Mt 24.14; cp.Hb 1.6mundo vindouro, de que falamos. 6 Mas, *Hb 4.4em certo lugar, alguém *vd.1Ts 4.6testificou, dizendo:

*Sl 8.4Que é o homem, que te lembres dele?

Ou o filho do homem, que o visites?

7 Fizeste-o um pouco menor que os anjos,

coroaste-o de glória e de honra;

8 *1Co 15.27sujeitaste todas as coisas debaixo dos seus pés.

Pois sujeitando-lhe todas as coisas, nada deixou que lhe não esteja sujeito. Mas, agora, *cp.1Co 15.25não vemos ainda todas as coisas sujeitas a ele; 9 porém àquele Jesus, que foi *Hb 2.7feito um pouco menor que os anjos, nós o vemos, *vd.Fp 2.9;Hb 1.9por causa do sofrimento da morte, *At 2.33;3.13;1Pe 1.21coroado de glória e de honra, para que, *vd.Jo 3.16pela graça de Deus, *Mt 16.28;Jo 8.52provasse a morte *cp.Hb 6.20;7.25a favor de todo homem. 10 Pois *Lc 24.26convinha que aquele, *vd.Rm 11.36para quem são todas as coisas e por quem todas existem, conduzindo à glória muitos filhos, *Hb 5.9;7.28; cp.Lc 13.32aperfeiçoasse pelos sofrimentos *cp.At 3.15;5.31ao autor da salvação deles. 11 Pois tanto o que *Hb 13.12santifica como os que *vd.Hb 10.10são santificados vêm, todos, de *At 17.28um só; pela qual razão ele não se envergonha de lhes chamar *Sl 22.22;Mt 25.40;Mc 3.34s.;Jo 20.17irmãos, 12 dizendo:

Declararei o teu nome a meus irmãos;

no meio da congregação, te louvarei.

13 E outra vez:

Eu porei a minha confiança nele.

E de novo:

*Is 8.17s.Eis aqui estou eu e os filhos que Deus me deu.

14 Portanto, desde que os filhos têm *vd.Mt 16.17carne e sangue comum, *vd.Jo 1.14; cp.Hb 7.13também ele, semelhantemente, participou dessas coisas, para, *1Co 15.54-57; vd.2Tm 1.10pela morte, destruir *1Jo 3.8; cp.Jo 12.31aquele que tinha o poder da morte, isto é, ao Diabo, 15 e para libertar a todos os que, por *cp.Rm 8.15medo da morte, estavam toda a vida debaixo da escravidão. 16 Pois, certamente, não presta auxílio aos anjos, mas presta auxílio à descendência de Abraão. 17 Por onde importava que, em tudo, *Hb 2.14;Fp 2.7fosse ele feito semelhante a seus irmãos, para que *Hb 4.15s.;5.2viesse a ser um sumo *Hb 3.1;4.14s.;5.5,10;6.20;7.26,28;8.1,3;9.11; cp.10.21sacerdote misericordioso e fiel nas *Hb 5.1;Rm 15.17coisas referentes a Deus, a fim de *1Jo 2.2;4.10; cp.Dn 9.24fazer propiciação pelos pecados do povo. 18 Pois, naquilo em que ele mesmo sofreu, sendo *Hb 4.15tentado, pode socorrer aos que são tentados.

1 Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty, 3 how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard, 4 God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

5 For he didn’t subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels. 6 But one has somewhere testified, saying,

"What is man, that you think of him?

Or the son of man, that you care for him?

7 You made him a little lower than the angels.

You crowned him with glory and honor.*2:7 TR adds "and set him over the works of your hands"

8 You have put all things in subjection under his feet."✝2:8 Psalms 8:4-6

For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don’t yet see all things subjected to him. 9 But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in bringing many children to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,*2:11 The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings." 12 saying,

"I will declare your name to my brothers.

Among the congregation I will sing your praise."✝2:12 Psalms 22:22

13 Again, "I will put my trust in him." Again, "Behold, here I am with the children whom God has given me."✝2:13 Isaiah 8:18 14 Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in the same way partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For most certainly, he doesn’t give help to angels, but he gives help to the offspring*2:16 or, seed of Abraham. 17 Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
