Jó 17

1 O meu espírito se esvai, os meus dias se extinguem,

e *Sl 88.3-4a sepultura me está preparada.

2 Estou, de fato, *Jó 17.6;12.4, ref.cercado de mofadores,

e os meus olhos são obrigados a contemplar a sua provocação.

3 Dá-me, pois, um penhor, *Sl 119.122;Is 38.14sê o meu fiador para contigo mesmo.

Quem mais há que me possa dar a mão?

4 *Jó 12.20, ref.Apartaste dos seus corações o entendimento.

Portanto, não os exaltarás.

5 Quem *Lv 19.13,16entrega os amigos como presa,

*Jó 11.20os olhos de seus filhos desfalecerão.

6 Ele me fez também o *Jó 17.2, ref.provérbio dos povos,

tornei-me como aquele em cujo rosto *Jó 30.10se cospe.

7 Também *Jó 16.16se escurecem de mágoa os meus olhos,

e todos os meus *Jó 16.8membros são como uma sombra.

8 Os retos pasmarão disso,

e o *Jó 22.19inocente se levantará contra o ímpio.

9 Contudo, o *Pv 4.18justo prosseguirá no seu caminho,

e *Jó 22.30;31.7o que tem mãos puras irá crescendo mais e mais em forças.

10 Mas tornai à carga, todos vós, e vinde;

*Jó 12.2não acharei entre vós um só que seja sábio.

11 Passados são *Jó 7.6, ref.os meus dias,

desfeitos os meus propósitos,

os pensamentos do meu coração.

12 Trocam a noite em dia;

a luz, dizem, está perto das trevas.

13 Se eu esperar o *Jó 3.13, ref.Sheol como minha casa,

se estender o meu leito nas trevas;

14 se disser à *Jó 7.5;13.28;30.18,30cova: Tu és meu pai;

e aos *Jó 21.26;25.6vermes: Vós sois minha mãe e minha irmã,

15 onde está, logo, a *Jó 7.6, ref.minha esperança?

Quanto à minha esperança, quem a poderá ver?

16 Ela descerá às grades do Sheol,

quando formos juntos *Jó 3.17;21.33descansar no pó.

1 "My spirit is consumed.

My days are extinct

and the grave is ready for me.

2 Surely there are mockers with me.

My eye dwells on their provocation.

3 "Now give a pledge. Be collateral for me with yourself.

Who is there who will strike hands with me?

4 For you have hidden their heart from understanding,

therefore you will not exalt them.

5 He who denounces his friends for plunder,

even the eyes of his children will fail.

6 "But he has made me a byword of the people.

They spit in my face.

7 My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow.

All my members are as a shadow.

8 Upright men will be astonished at this.

The innocent will stir himself up against the godless.

9 Yet the righteous will hold to his way.

He who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.

10 But as for you all, come back.

I will not find a wise man among you.

11 My days are past.

My plans are broken off,

as are the thoughts of my heart.

12 They change the night into day,

saying ‘The light is near’ in the presence of darkness.

13 If I look for Sheol*17:13 Sheol is the place of the dead. as my house,

if I have spread my couch in the darkness,

14 if I have said to corruption, ‘You are my father,’

and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ and ‘My sister,’

15 where then is my hope?

As for my hope, who will see it?

16 Shall it go down with me to the gates of Sheol,*17:16 Sheol is the place of the dead.

or descend together into the dust?"
