Neemias 2

11 Assim, cheguei a Jerusalém e estive ali três dias. 12 Levantei-me de noite, eu e uns poucos homens comigo; e não disse eu a ninguém o que o meu Deus me pôs no coração para fazer em benefício de Jerusalém. Não havia comigo animal algum senão o em que eu estava montado. 13 Saí de noite pela *Ne 3.13Entrada do Vale, em direção à Fonte do Dragão, e até a Entrada do Esterco e contemplava os muros de Jerusalém, *Ne 1.3que estavam demolidos, *Ne 2.3,17e as suas portas, que tinham sido consumidas do fogo. 14 Passei *Ne 3.15à Entrada da Fonte *2Rs 20.20e à piscina do rei; porém não havia lugar por onde pudesse passar o animal em que ia montado. 15 Subi de noite pela torrente; contemplei os muros, e, voltando, entrei pela Entrada do Vale, e assim voltei. 16 Os magistrados não sabiam aonde eu fui, nem o que eu fiz; nem ainda o tinha eu dito aos judeus, nem aos sacerdotes, nem aos nobres, nem aos magistrados, nem aos mais que faziam a obra.

11 So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days. 12 I arose in the night, I and a few men with me. I didn’t tell anyone what my God put into my heart to do for Jerusalem. There wasn’t any animal with me except the animal that I rode on. 13 I went out by night by the valley gate toward the jackal’s well, then to the dung gate; and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and its gates were consumed with fire. 14 Then I went on to the spring gate and to the king’s pool, but there was no place for the animal that was under me to pass. 15 Then I went up in the night by the brook and inspected the wall; and I turned back, and entered by the valley gate, and so returned. 16 The rulers didn’t know where I went, or what I did. I had not as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest who did the work.
