1 Vossos irmãos serão chamados Ami e vossas irmãs Ruhama.2 Protestai contra vossa mãe, protestai, porque já não é minha mulher e já não sou seu marido. Afaste ela de sua face suas fornicações e seus adultérios de entre os seus seios,3 para que eu não a desnude como no dia de seu nascimento e não a torne como um deserto; para que eu não a reduza a uma terra seca e não a deixe perecer de sede.4 Não terei compaixão de seus filhos, porque são adulterinos.5 Sim, sua mãe cometeu o adultério, desonrou-se aquela que o concebeu. Ela disse consigo mesma: Seguirei os meus amantes, que me dão meu pão e minha água, minha lã e meu linho, meu óleo e minha bebida.6 Por isso, fecharei com espinhos o seu caminho; cercá-lo-ei com um muro e ela não encontrará mais saída.7 Perseguirá os seus amantes mas não os alcançará; procurá-los-á, mas não os encontrará. Então dirá: Voltarei para o meu primeiro marido, porque eu era outrora mais feliz que agora.8 Ela não reconheceu que era eu quem lhe dava o trigo, o vinho e o óleo, e quem lhe prodigalizava a prata {e o ouro que se consagra a Baal}.9 Por isso retomarei o meu trigo no seu tempo, e o meu vinho na sua estação; retirarei minha lã e meu linho, com que cobria a sua nudez.10 Vou descobrir sua abjeção aos olhos de seus amantes e ninguém a libertará de minha mão.11 Porei fim a todos os seus divertimentos, suas festividades, suas luas novas, seus sábados e a todas as suas festas.12 Devastarei sua vinha e sua figueira, das quais dizia: Eis a paga que me deram meus amantes. Farei delas um matagal, que os animais selvagens devorarão.13 Eu a farei expiar os dias de Baal, quando lhe queimava ofertas, ataviada de seu colar e de suas jóias para cortejar os seus amantes, sem pensar mais em mim. - Oráculo de Senhor.14 Por isso a atrairei, conduzi-la-ei ao deserto e falar-lhe-ei ao coração.15 Dar-lhe-ei as suas vinhas e o vale de Acor, como porta de esperança. Aí ela se tornará como no tempo de sua juventude, como nos dias em que subiu da terra do Egito.16 Naquele dia - diz o Senhor - tu me chamarás: Meu marido, e não mais: Meu Baal.17 Não lhe deixarei mais na boca os nomes de Baal e ninguém pronunciará tais nomes.18 Farei para eles, naquele dia, uma aliança com os animais selvagens, as aves do céu e os répteis da terra; farei desaparecer da terra o arco, a espada e a guerra, e os farei repousar com segurança.19 Desposar-te-ei para sempre, desposar-te-ei conforme a justiça e o direito, com benevolência e ternura.20 Desposar-te-ei com fidelidade, e conhecerás o Senhor.21 Naquele dia, diz o Senhor, eu atenderei aos céus, e eles atenderão à terra.22 A terra atenderá ao trigo, ao mosto e ao óleo, e estes atenderão a Jezrael.23 Farei dele para mim uma terra bem semeada, usarei de misericórdia com Lo-Ruhama, e direi a Lo-Ami: Tu és meu povo!, e ele me dirá: Vós sois meu Deus!.

1 (2:3) Call ye your brothers, ‘Ammi my people; and your sisters, Ruchamah That hath obtained mercy.2 (2:4) Contend with your mother, contend; for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband; but let her put away her prostitution from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts:3 (2:5) Lest I strip her naked, and set her, as on the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and render her like a dry land, and let her die with thirst.4 (2:6) And upon her children will I not have mercy; for they are children of prostitution;5 (2:7) For their mother hath played the harlot; she that conceived them hath done shamefully; for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.6 (2:8) Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and I will close it up with a fence, that she shall not find her paths.7 (2:9) And she will make pursuit after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she will seek them, but shall not find them: then will she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for it was better with me then than now.8 (2:10) But she indeed did not acknowledge, that it was I that had given her the corn, and the wine, and the oil, and multiplied for her silver and gold, which they devoted for Ba’al.9 (2:11) Therefore will I turn back, and take away my corn in its time, and my wine in its season, and I will snatch away my wool and my flax, given to cover her nakedness.10 (2:12) And now will I lay open her disgrace before the eyes of her lovers, and no man shall deliver her out of my hand.11 (2:13) And I will cause to cease all her mirth, her festival, her new–moon, and her sabbath, and all her appointed feasts.12 (2:14) And I will make desolate her vine and her fig–tree, whereof she hath said, These are my reward which my lovers have given me: and I will change them into a forest, and the beasts of the field shall devour them.13 (2:15) And I will visit upon her the days of the Be’alim, to which she used to burn incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and me she forgot, saith the Lord.14 (2:16) Therefore, behold, will I allure her, and lead her forth into the wilderness, and I will speak comfortingly unto her heart.15 (2:17) And I will give her again her vineyards from there, and the valley of ‘Achor sorrow as an entrance for hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as on the day of her coming up out of the land of Egypt.16 (2:18) And it shall happen at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi my husband, and shalt not call me any more Ba’ali my lord.17 (2:19) For I will remove the names of the Be’alim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be mentioned by their name.18 (2:20) And I will make for them a covenant on that day with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of the heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and bow, and sword, and war I will break away out of the land, and I will cause them to lie down in safety.19 (2:21) And I will betroth thee unto me for ever: yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in justice, and in loving–kindness, and in mercy.20 (2:22) And I will betroth thee unto me in faithfulness; and thou shalt know the Lord.21 (2:23) And it shall come to pass on that day, that I will answer prayer, saith the Lord, I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth;22 (2:24) And the earth shall answer the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall answer Yizre’el.23 (2:25) And I will sow her for me in the land; and I will have mercy upon "Her that had not obtained mercy" Lo–ruchamah; and I will say to those who were "Not my people" Lo–’ammi, Thou art my people: and they shall say, Thou art my God.
