1 Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, 2 "Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest? 3 Will wood be taken of it to make anything? Will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel on it? 4 Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire has devoured both its ends, and the middle of it is burned. Is it profitable for any work? 5 Behold, when it was whole, it was suitable for no work. How much less, when the fire has devoured it, and it has been burned, will it yet be suitable for any work?"

6 Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: "As the vine wood among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 7 I will set my face against them. They will go out from the fire, but the fire will still devour them. Then you will know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them. 8 I will make the land desolate, because they have acted unfaithfully," says the Lord Yahweh.

1 耶和华的话临到我说：

2 "人子啊！ 葡萄树的木料怎能胜过树林中的枝子呢？

3 人可以从葡萄树上取木料制造物件吗？可以从葡萄树上取木料做钉子挂器皿吗？

4 看哪！ 已经拋在火里当作燃料， 火既烧毁了两端， 连中间也烧焦了， 它还可以用来制造物件吗？

5 看哪！ 它完整的时候， 尚且不能用来制造物件， 何况它被火烧毁和烧焦了， 它还能用来做什么呢？"

6 因此， 主耶和华这样说： "我怎样把树林中的葡萄树拋在火里当作燃料， 也必照样对待耶路撒冷的居民。

7 我必变脸攻击他们； 他们虽然从火里逃出来， 火仍要吞灭他们； 我变脸攻击他们的时候， 你们就知道我是耶和华。

8 我必使这地荒凉， 因为他们行了不忠的事。这是主耶和华的宣告。"
