1 When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples."

2 He said to them, "When you pray, say,

‘Our Father in heaven,

may your name be kept holy.

May your Kingdom come.

May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 Forgive us our sins,

for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.

Bring us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.’"

5 He said to them, "Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6 for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’ 7 and he from within will answer and say, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give it to you’? 8 I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

9 "I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

11 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

14 He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled. 15 But some of them said, "He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons." 16 Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls. 18 If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. 19 But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 20 But if I by God’s finger cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come to you.

21 "When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe. 22 But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.

23 "He who is not with me is against me. He who doesn’t gather with me scatters.

24 The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will turn back to my house from which I came out.’ 25 When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order. 26 Then he goes and takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first."

27 It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!"

28 But he said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it."

29 When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say, "This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet. 30 For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so the Son of Man will also be to this generation. 31 The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and will condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, one greater than Jonah is here.

33 "No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light. 34 The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness. 35 Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness. 36 If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light."

37 Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in and sat at the table. 38 When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner. 39 The Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness. 40 You foolish ones, didn’t he who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you. 42 But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and God’s love. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone. 43 Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces. 44 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them don’t know it."

45 One of the lawyers answered him, "Teacher, in saying this you insult us also."

46 He said, "Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves won’t even lift one finger to help carry those burdens. 47 Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 48 So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs. 49 Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute, 50 that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation. 52 Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn’t enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered."

53 As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him, 54 lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.

1 Într-o zi, Isus Se ruga într-un loc anumit. Când a isprăvit rugăciunea, unul din ucenicii Lui I-a zis: „Doamne, învață-ne să ne rugăm, cum a învățat și Ioan pe ucenicii lui."

2 El le-a zis: „Când vă rugați, să ziceți:

‘Tatăl*Mat. 6:9.nostru care ești în ceruri! Sfințească-se Numele Tău; vie Împărăția Ta; facă-se voia Ta, precum în cer, așa și pe pământ.

3 Pâinea noastră cea de toate zilele dă-ne-o nouă în fiecare zi4 și ne iartă nouă păcatele noastre, fiindcă și noi iertăm oricui ne este dator, și nu ne duce în ispită, ci izbăvește-ne de cel rău.’"

5 Apoi le-a mai zis: „Dacă unul dintre voi are un prieten și se duce la el la miezul nopții și-i zice: ‘Prietene, împrumută-mi trei pâini,6 căci a venit la mine de pe drum un prieten al meu și n-am ce-i pune înainte’7 și dacă, dinăuntrul casei lui, prietenul acesta îi răspunde: ‘Nu mă tulbura; acum ușa este încuiată, copiii mei sunt cu mine în pat, nu pot să mă scol să-ți dau pâini’,8 vă spun: chiar*Cap. 18:1.dacă nu s-ar scula să i le dea, pentru că-i este prieten, totuși, măcar pentru stăruința lui supărătoare, tot se va scula și-i va da tot ce-i trebuie.9 De aceea și*Mat. 7:7;21:22.Marcu 11:24.Ioan 15:7.Iac. 1:6.1 Ioan 3:22.Eu vă spun: Cereți, și vi se va da; căutați, și veți găsi; bateți, și vi se va deschide.10 Fiindcă oricine cere capătă; cine caută găsește și celui ce bate, i se deschide.11 Cine este tatăl acela dintre voi care, dacă-i*Mat. 7:9.cere fiul său pâine, să-i dea o piatră? Ori, dacă cere un pește, să-i dea un șarpe în loc de pește?12 Sau, dacă cere un ou, să-i dea o scorpie?13 Deci, dacă voi, care sunteți răi, știți să dați daruri bune copiilor voștri, cu cât mai mult Tatăl vostru cel din ceruri va da Duhul Sfânt celor ce I-L cer!"

14 Isus*Mat. 9:32;12:22. a scos dintr-un bolnav un drac, care era mut. După ce a ieșit dracul, mutul a grăit și noroadele s-au mirat. 15 Dar unii ziceau: „El*Mat. 9:34;12:24. scoate dracii cu Beelzebul, domnul dracilor." 16 Alții, ca să-L ispitească, Îi cereau*Mat. 12:38;16:1. un semn din cer. 17 Isus*Mat. 12:25.Marcu 3:24. le-a*Ioan 2:25. cunoscut gândurile și le-a zis: „Orice împărăție dezbinată împotriva ei este pustiită și o casă dezbinată împotriva ei se prăbușește peste alta.18 Deci, dacă Satana este dezbinat împotriva lui însuși, cum va dăinui împărăția lui, fiindcă ziceți că Eu scot dracii cu Beelzebul?19 Și dacă Eu scot dracii cu Beelzebul, fiii voștri cu cine îi scot? De aceea, ei înșiși vor fi judecătorii voștri.20 Dar, dacă Eu scot dracii cu*Exod 8:19.degetul lui Dumnezeu, Împărăția lui Dumnezeu a ajuns până la voi.21 Când*Mat. 12:29.Marcu 3:27.omul cel tare și bine înarmat își păzește casa, averile îi sunt la adăpost.22 Dar*Is. 53:12.Col. 2:15., dacă vine peste el unul mai tare decât el și-l biruiește, atunci îi ia cu sila toate armele în care se încredea și împarte prăzile luate de la el.23 Cine*Mat. 12:30.nu este cu Mine este împotriva Mea și cine nu adună cu Mine risipește.

24 Duhul necurat, când*Mat. 12:43.iese dintr-un om, umblă prin locuri fără apă și caută odihnă. Fiindcă n-o găsește, zice: ‘Mă voi întoarce în casa mea, de unde am ieșit.’25 Și când vine, o găsește măturată și împodobită.26 Atunci se duce de mai ia cu el alte șapte duhuri, mai rele decât el, intră împreună în casă, se așază în ea, și starea de pe urmă*Ioan 5:14.Evr. 6:4;10:26.2 Pet. 2:20.a omului aceluia ajunge mai rea decât cea dintâi."

27 Pe când spunea Isus aceste vorbe, o femeie din norod și-a ridicat glasul și a zis: „Ferice*Cap. 1:28,48. de pântecele care Te-a purtat și de țâțele pe care le-ai supt!" 28 Și El a răspuns: „Ferice*Mat. 7:21. Cap. 8:21.Iac. 1:25.mai degrabă de cei ce ascultă Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu și-L păzesc!"

29 Pe când*Mat. 12:38,39. noroadele se strângeau cu grămada, El a început să spună: „Neamul acesta este un neam viclean; el cere un semn, dar nu i se va da alt semn decât semnul prorocului Iona.30 Căci după cum Iona*Iona 1:17;2:10.a fost un semn pentru niniviteni, tot așa și Fiul omului va fi un semn pentru neamul acesta.31 Împărăteasa*1 Împ. 10:1.de la miazăzi se va scula, în ziua judecății, alături de bărbații acestui neam și-i va osândi; pentru că ea a venit de la capătul pământului ca să audă înțelepciunea lui Solomon; și iată că aici este Unul mai mare decât Solomon.32 Bărbații din Ninive se vor scula, în ziua judecății, alături de neamul acesta și-l vor osândi, pentru că ei*Iona 3:5.s-au pocăit la propovăduirea lui Iona; și iată că aici este Unul mai mare decât Iona.

33 Nimeni*Mat. 5:15.Marcu 4:21. Cap. 8:16.n-aprinde o lumină ca s-o pună într-un loc ascuns sau sub baniță, ci o pune într-un sfeșnic, pentru ca cei ce intră să vadă lumina.34 Ochiul este lumina*Mat. 6:22.trupului tău. Dacă ochiul tău este sănătos, tot trupul tău este plin de lumină, dar, dacă ochiul tău este rău, trupul tău este plin de întuneric.35 Ia seama, dar, ca lumina care este în tine să nu fie întuneric.36 Așa că, dacă tot trupul tău este plin de lumină, fără să aibă vreo parte întunecată, va fi în totul plin de lumină, întocmai ca atunci când te-ar lumina o lampă cu lumina ei mare."

37 Pe când vorbea Isus, un fariseu L-a rugat să prânzească la el. El a intrat și a șezut la masă. 38 Fariseul*Marcu 7:3. a văzut cu mirare că Isus nu Se spălase înainte de prânz. 39 Dar*Mat. 23:25. Domnul i-a zis: „Voi, fariseii, curățiți partea de afară a paharului și a blidului, dar lăuntrul*Tit 1:15.vostru este plin de jefuire și de răutate.40 Nebunilor, oare Acela care a făcut partea de afară n-a făcut și pe cea dinăuntru?41 Dați*Is. 58:7.Dan. 4:27. Cap. 12:33.mai bine milostenie din lucrurile dinăuntru, și atunci toate vă vor fi curate.42 Dar*Mat. 23:23.vai de voi, fariseilor! Pentru că voi dați zeciuială din izmă, din rută și din toate zarzavaturile, și dați uitării dreptatea și dragostea de Dumnezeu: pe acestea trebuia să le faceți, și pe celelalte să nu le lăsați nefăcute!43 Vai*Mat. 23:6.Marcu 12:38,39.de voi, fariseilor! Pentru că voi umblați după scaunele dintâi la sinagogi și vă place să vă facă lumea plecăciuni prin piețe!44 Vai*Mat. 23:27.de voi, cărturari și farisei fățarnici! Pentru că*Ps. 5:9.voi sunteți ca mormintele, care nu se văd și peste care oamenii umblă fără să știe."45 Unul din învățătorii Legii a luat cuvântul și I-a zis: „Învățătorule, spunând aceste lucruri, ne ocărăști și pe noi." 46 „Vai și de voi, învățători ai Legii", a răspuns Isus. „Pentru că*Mat. 23:4.voi puneți pe spinarea oamenilor sarcini grele de purtat, iar voi nici măcar cu unul din degetele voastre nu vă atingeți de ele.47 Vai*Mat. 23:29.de voi! Pentru că voi zidiți mormintele prorocilor pe care i-au ucis părinții voștri.48 Prin aceasta mărturisiți că încuviințați faptele părinților voștri, căci ei au ucis pe proroci, iar voi le zidiți mormintele.49 De aceea Înțelepciunea lui Dumnezeu a zis: ‘Le voi trimite*Mat. 23:34.proroci și apostoli; pe unii din ei îi vor ucide, iar pe alții îi vor prigoni,50 ca să se ceară de la acest neam sângele tuturor prorocilor care a fost vărsat de la întemeierea lumii:51 de la*Gen. 4:8.sângele lui Abel până la sângele*2 Cron. 24:20,21.lui Zaharia, ucis între altar și Templu’; da, vă spun, se va cere de la neamul acesta!52 Vai*Mat. 23:13.de voi, învățători ai Legii! Pentru că voi ați pus mâna pe cheia cunoștinței: nici voi n-ați intrat, iar pe cei ce voiau să intre, i-ați împiedicat să intre."53 După ce a ieșit de acolo, cărturarii și fariseii au început să-L pună la strâmtoare și să-L facă să vorbească despre multe lucruri; 54 I-au întins astfel lațuri, ca*Marcu 12:13. să prindă vreo vorbă din gura Lui, pentru care să-L poată învinui.
