Arca da Aliança

1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to the children of Israel, and take from them a staff, a staff from each fathers house, all their leaders according to their fathers houses; twelve staffs. Write each mans name on his staff.

3 And you shall write Aarons name on the staff of Levi. For there shall be one staff for the head of each fathers house.

4 And you shall place them in the tent of meeting before the Testimony, where I meet with you.

5 And it shall be that the staff of the man whom I choose shall blossom; thus I will put to rest the murmurings of the children of Israel, with which they grumble against you.

6 And Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and each of their leaders gave him a staff apiece, for each leader a staff according to their fathers houses, twelve staffs; and the staff of Aaron was among their staffs.

7 And Moses placed the staffs before Jehovah in the tent of witness.

8 And it came to pass on the next day that Moses went into the tent of witness, and behold, the staff of Aaron, of the house of Levi, had sprouted and put forth buds, had produced blossoms and yielded ripe almonds.

9 And Moses brought out all the staffs from before Jehovah to all the children of Israel; and they looked, and each man took his staff.

10 And Jehovah said to Moses, Bring Aarons staff back before the Testimony, to be kept as a sign against the rebels, that you may put their murmurings away from Me, that they not die.

11 Thus Moses did; as Jehovah had commanded him, so he did.

14 So it was, when the people set out from their tents to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,

15 and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped into the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest),

16 that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. Thus the waters that went down into the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, stopped, and were cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

17 And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan.

14 Return, O backsliding children, says Jehovah; for I am married to you. And I will take you, one from a city, and two from a family; and I will bring you to Zion.

15 And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

16 And it shall come to pass, when you have multiplied and increased in the land in those days, says Jehovah, that they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of Jehovah! Nor shall it come to mind; nor shall they remember it; nor shall they seek it; nor shall it be made anymore.

10 And the men did so: They took two milk cows and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home.

11 And they set the ark of Jehovah on the cart, and the chest with the gold mice and the images of their tumors.

12 And the cows headed straight for the way to Beth Shemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went, and did not turn aside to the right hand or the left. And the rulers of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth Shemesh.

13 Now those of Beth Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.

14 And the cart came into the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, and stood there; and a large stone was there. And they split the wood of the cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering unto Jehovah.

15 And the Levites took down the ark of Jehovah and the chest that was with it, in which were the articles of gold, and put them on the large stone. And the men of Beth Shemesh offered burnt offerings and made sacrifices that day unto Jehovah.

89 And when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony, from between the two cherubim; thus He spoke to him.

1 And Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood; two and a half cubits was its length, a cubit and a half its width, and a cubit and a half its height.

20 And he took the Testimony and put it into the ark, inserted the poles through the rings of the ark, and put the mercy seat on the ark from above.

21 And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, put up the veil of the covering, and screened the ark of the Testimony, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

20 So the people shouted when the priests blew the shofars. And it happened, when the people heard the sound of the shofars and the people shouting with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. And the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.

1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying:

2 On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.

3 You shall put in it the ark of the Testimony, and screen the ark with the veil.

6 And the hand of Jehovah was heavy upon those of Ashdod, and He ravaged them and struck them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territories.

7 And when the men of Ashdod saw how it was, they said, The ark of the God of Israel must not remain with us, for His hand has been severe upon us and Dagon our god.

8 Therefore they sent and gathered to themselves all the rulers of the Philistines, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be brought to Gath. So they brought around the ark of the God of Israel.

9 And so it was, after they had brought it around, that the hand of Jehovah was against the city with a very great destruction; and He struck the men of the city, both small and great, and tumors broke out on them.

10 Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. So it was, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought around the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people!

11 So they sent and gathered together all the rulers of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go back to its own place, so that it does not kill us and our people. For there was a death panic throughout all the city, because the hand of God had been very heavy there.

10 And they shall make an ark of acacia wood; two and a half cubits shall be its length, a cubit and a half its width, and a cubit and a half its height.

11 And you shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and out you shall overlay it, and shall make on it a molding of gold all around.

12 You shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them on its four feet; two rings shall be on one side, and two rings on the other side.

13 And you shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.

14 You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, that the ark may be carried with them.

15 The poles shall be in the rings of the ark; they shall not be removed from it.

16 And you shall put into the ark the Testimony which I am giving you.

17 You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold; two and a half cubits shall be its length and a cubit and a half its width.

18 And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work you shall make them at the two ends of the mercy seat.

19 Make one cherub at one end, and one cherub at the other end; you shall make the cherubim at the two ends of it from one piece with the mercy seat.

20 And the cherubim shall spread over their wings above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces one toward another; the faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat.

21 You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you.

1 Now Jericho was closed, shut up before the children of Israel; no one going out, and no one coming in.

2 And Jehovah said to Joshua: Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.

3 You shall go around the city, all the men of war; you shall go all around the city once. Thus you shall do six days.

4 And seven priests shall bear seven shofars of rams horns before the ark. And the seventh day you shall go around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the shofars.

5 And it shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the rams horn, and when you hear the sound of the shofar, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.

6 And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven shofars of rams horns before the ark of Jehovah.

7 And he said to the people, Pass along, and go around the city, and let him who is armed go along before the ark of Jehovah.

22 And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, everything which I will command you concerning the children of Israel.

33 So they departed from the mountain of Jehovah on a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant of Jehovah set out before them for the three days journey, to search out a resting place for them.

34 And the cloud of Jehovah was above them by day when they set out from the camp.

35 Thus it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said: Rise up, O Jehovah! Let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You.

36 And when it rested, he said: Return, O Jehovah, to the multitudes of the thousands of Israel.

18 And it came to pass, when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah had come from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests feet touched the dry land, that the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks as before.

1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, unto King Solomon at Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the City of David, which is Zion.

2 Therefore all the men of Israel assembled unto King Solomon at the feast in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

3 So all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.

4 And they brought up the ark of Jehovah, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent. The priests and the Levites brought them up.

5 And King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel who were assembled with him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude.

6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim.

7 For the cherubim spread their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered over the ark and its poles.

8 The poles extended so that the ends of the poles could be seen from the holy place, in front of the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And they are there to this day.

9 Nothing was in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses had put there at Horeb, when Jehovah had made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

10 And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Jehovah,

11 such that the priests were not able to stand to minister before the cloud; for the glory of Jehovah had filled the house of Jehovah.

1 And the ark of Jehovah was in the land of the Philistines seven months.

2 And the Philistines summoned the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do with the ark of Jehovah? Make known to us how we shall send it to its place.

3 And they said, If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it empty; but turn it back to return it to Him with a trespass offering. Then you will be healed, and it will be known to you why His hand is not removed from you.

2 And the Philistines put themselves in battle array against Israel. And when they joined the battle, Israel was struck down before the Philistines, who killed about four thousand men at the battle line in the field.

3 And when the people came into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Why has Jehovah struck us down today before the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the covenant of Jehovah from Shiloh to us, that when it comes among us it may save us from the hand of our enemies.

4 So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah of Hosts, who dwells between the cherubim. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

5 And when the ark of the covenant of Jehovah came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout so that the earth shook.

6 And when the Philistines heard the sound of the shout, they said, What is this sound of great shouting in the camp of the Hebrews? Then they understood that the ark of Jehovah had come into the camp.

7 And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God has come into the camp! And they said, Woe to us! For such a thing has never happened before.

8 Woe to us! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck Egypt with all the plagues in the wilderness.

9 Be strong and be like men, you Philistines, that you do not become servants of the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Be like men, and fight!

10 So the Philistines fought, and Israel was struck down, and every man fled to his tent. There was a very great slaughter, and there fell of Israel thirty thousand foot soldiers.

11 And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, died.

19 Then the temple of God in Heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, voices, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.

1 And the men of Kirjath Jearim came and took the ark of Jehovah, and brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep the ark of Jehovah.

2 So it was that the ark remained in Kirjath Jearim many days; it was twenty years. And all the house of Israel mourned after Jehovah.

12 And it was reported to King David, saying, Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness.

13 And so it was, when those bearing the ark of Jehovah had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.

14 And David was dancing before Jehovah with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

15 So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of Jehovah with shouting and with the sound of the shofar.

1 Then indeed, even the first covenant had ordinances of service and the earthly sanctuary.

2 For the first tabernacle was prepared: in which was the lampstand, the table, and the Bread of Presentation, which is called the sanctuary;

3 and behind the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies,

4 which had the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were the golden pot that had the manna, Aarons staff that budded, and the tablets of the covenant;

5 and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
