Jó 37

1 At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place. Halljátok meg figyelmetesen az õ hangjának dörgését, és a zúgást, a mely az õ szájából kijön!
2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. Az egész ég alatt szétereszti azt, és villámát is a földnek széléig.
3 He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning to the ends of the earth. Utána hang zendül, az õ fenségének hangjával mennydörög, s nem tartja vissza azt, ha szava megzendült.
4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellence; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard. Isten az õ szavával csudálatosan mennydörög, és nagy dolgokat cselekszik, úgy hogy nem érthetjük.
5 God thundereth marvelously with his voice; great things he doeth, which we cannot comprehend. Mert azt mondja a hónak: Essél le a földre! És a zápor-esõnek és a zuhogó zápornak: [Szakadjatok].
6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. Minden ember kezét lepecsétli, hogy megismerje minden halandó, hogy az õ mûve.
7 He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work. Akkor a vadállat az õ tanyájára húzódik, és az õ barlangjában marad.
8 Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places. Rejtekébõl elõjön a vihar, és az északi szelektõl a fagy.
9 From the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold from the north. Isten lehellete által támad a jég, és szorul össze a víznek szélessége.
10 By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. Majd nedvességgel öntözi meg a felleget, s áttöri a borulatot az õ villáma.
11 Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud: És az köröskörül forog az õ vezetése alatt, hogy mindazt megtegyék, a mit parancsol nékik, a föld kerekségének színén.
12 And it is turned around by his counsels: that they may do whatever he commandeth them upon the face of the world on the earth. Vagy ostorul, ha földjének úgy kell, vagy áldásul juttatja azt.
13 He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy. Vedd ezt füledbe Jób, állj meg és gondold meg az Istennek csudáit.
14 Hearken to this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. Megtudod-é, mikor rendeli azt rájok az Isten, hogy villanjon az õ felhõjének villáma?
15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine? Tudod-é, hogy miként lebegnek a felhõk, [vagy] a tökéletes tudásnak csudáit [érted-é?]
16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge? Miképen melegülnek át ruháid, mikor nyugton van a föld a déli széltõl?
17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind? Vele együtt terjesztetted-é ki az eget, a mely szilárd, mint az aczéltükör?
18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky which is strong, and as a molten looking-glass? Mondd meg nékünk, mit szóljunk néki? A setétség miatt semmit sem kezdhetünk.
19 Teach us what we shall say to him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. Elbeszélik-é néki, ha szólok? Ha elmondaná valaki: bizony vége volna!
20 Shall it be told him that I speak? If a man shall speak, surely he will be swallowed up. Néha nem látják a napot, bár az égen ragyog; de szél fut át [rajta] és kiderül.
21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them. Észak felõl arany[színû világosság] támad, Isten körül félelmetes dicsõség.
22 Fair weather cometh from the north: with God is terrible majesty. Mindenható! Nem foghatjuk meg õt; nagy az õ hatalma és ítélõ ereje, és a tiszta igazságot el nem nyomja.
23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in abundance of justice: he will not afflict. Azért rettegjék õt az emberek; a [kevély] bölcsek közül nem lát õ egyet sem.
24 Men therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
