Temor do Senhor
O temor do Senhor é o princípio da sabedoria. Não se trata de medo, mas de reverência profunda, respeito e admiração diante da santidade e grandeza de Deus.
O princípio da sabedoria
A Escritura afirma que temer ao Senhor é o primeiro passo para a verdadeira sabedoria. Quem teme a Deus discerne o certo e aprende a viver com prudência.
10 The beginning of wisdom [is] fear of Jehovah, Good understanding have all doing them, His praise [is] standing for ever!
10 The commencement of wisdom [is] the fear of Jehovah, And a knowledge of the Holy Ones [is] understanding.
33 The fear of Jehovah [is] the instruction of wisdom, And before honour [is] humility!
28 And He saith to man: -- Lo, fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom, And to turn from evil [is] understanding.
9 The fear of Jehovah [is] clean, standing to the age, The judgments of Jehovah [are] true, They have been righteous -- together.10 They are more desirable than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey, Even liquid honey of the comb.11 Also -- Thy servant is warned by them, In keeping them [is] a great reward.
Bênçãos do temor
Quem teme ao Senhor encontra vida longa, provisão e proteção. O temor de Deus nos guarda do mal e nos conduz à humildade.
4 The end of humility [is] the fear of Jehovah, Riches, and honour, and life.
27 The fear of Jehovah addeth days, And the years of the wicked are shortened.
27 The fear of Jehovah [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.
6 In kindness and truth pardoned is iniquity, And in the fear of Jehovah Turn thou aside from evil.
14 O the happiness of a man fearing continually, And whoso is hardening his heart falleth into evil.
8 Taste ye and see that Jehovah [is] good, O the happiness of the man who trusteth in Him.9 Fear Jehovah, ye His holy ones, For there is no lack to those fearing Him.
Vivendo no temor do Senhor
Temer ao Senhor é obedecer seus mandamentos, andar em seus caminhos e amá-lo de todo coração. Essa reverência se expressa em justiça e integridade.
4 after Jehovah your God ye walk, and Him ye fear, and His commands ye keep, and to His voice ye hearken, and Him ye serve, and to Him ye cleave.
6 and thou hast kept the commands of Jehovah thy God, to walk in His ways, and to fear Him.
11 Serve ye Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
11 Come ye, children, hearken to me, The fear of Jehovah I do teach you.12 Who [is] the man that is desiring life? Loving days to see good?13 Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking deceit.14 Turn aside from evil and do good, Seek peace and pursue it.
7 and now, let fear of Jehovah be upon you, observe and do, for there is not with Jehovah our God perverseness, and acceptance of faces, and taking of a bribe.
14 Thou dost not revile the deaf; and before the blind thou dost not put a stumbling block; and thou hast been afraid of thy God; I [am] Jehovah.
17 and ye do not oppress one another, and thou hast been afraid of thy God; for I [am] Jehovah your God.
35 And when thy brother is become poor, and his hand hath failed with thee, then thou hast kept hold on him, sojourner and settler, and he hath lived with thee;36 thou takest no usury from him, or increase; and thou hast been afraid of thy God; and thy brother hath lived with thee;
4 And I say to you, my friends, be not afraid of those killing the body, and after these things are not having anything over to do;5 but I will show to you, whom ye may fear; Fear him who, after the killing, is having authority to cast to the gehenna; yes, I say to you, Fear ye Him.
