A escravidão do pecado
34 "In solemn truth I tell you," Jesus replied, "every one who commits sin is a slave
36 "So then, if the Son shall set you free, you will be free indeed.
36 "So then, if the Son shall set you free, you will be free indeed.
31 So Jesus spoke to the Jews that believed him, saying. "If you abide in my teaching, you are my true disciples;32 "and you shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
1 stand firm then, and do not be again entangled in a yoke of bondage.
16 Do you not know that when you surrender yourselves as slaves to any one to obey him, you are his slaves whom you obey; whether it be sin, whose end is death, or obedience, whose end is righteousness?
Resistência e domínio próprio
O fruto do Espírito inclui o domínio próprio.
21 envy, drunkenness, revelings, and things like these. I tell you beforehand, as I have already told you, that those who practise such sins shall not inherit the kingdom of God.23 against such there is no law.
12 "All things are lawful for me"? Yes, but not all things are good for me. "All things are lawful for me"? Yes, but I will not let myself be enslaved by the power of any.
12 "All things are lawful for me"? Yes, but not all things are good for me. "All things are lawful for me"? Yes, but I will not let myself be enslaved by the power of any.
27 but I bruise my body and keep it in subjection, lest having called others to the contest, I should myself be disqualified.
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is beyond mans power; but God is faithful, who will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but will, with every temptation, provide the way of escape also, so that you may be able to withstand.
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is beyond mans power; but God is faithful, who will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but will, with every temptation, provide the way of escape also, so that you may be able to withstand.
41 "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
7 So then ever be subject to God, Ever resist the devil and he will flee from you.
3 because you know that the testing of your faith is working out endurance.
1 I entreat you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies to Him as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. This is your reasonable service of worship.2 And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
11 Even so count yourselves also to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus.12 Therefore let not sin rule as king in your mortal body, compelling you to obey its lusts.13 Do not continue to present any part of your body to sin to be used as a weapon of unrighteousness. On the contrary, be presenting yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and the various parts of your bodies to be used as weapons of righteousness.
5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, so we shall also be united with him in the likeness of his resurrection.6 For this we know, that our old self was crucified with Christ, in order that the slave of sin might be destroyed; so that we should no longer be in slavery to sin -
11 "For Gods grace has shined forth bringing salvation to all men12 And schooling us to renounce impiety and evil passions, And to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age;
2 so that in future you may not spend your life in the flesh according to mens desires, but in the will of God.3 For the time past of life may suffice us to have worked the will of the Gentiles, when we spent our life in lasciviousness, lusts, hard drinking, revelry, banqueting, and abominable idol worship.4 They are astonished at this, that you do not run into the same excesses of profligacy as they do; and they speak evil of you.5 But they must render account to Him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.6 The gospel was preached for this cause to those who were dead also, that they might be judged according to men in flesh, but live according to God in spirit.7 But the end of all things is close at hand; so be sober, watch and pray.
8 If we say, "We have no sin," we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.9 But if we confess our sins, faithful is he and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all wrong-doing.
O corpo como templo
Nosso corpo é templo do Espírito Santo.
19 Do you not know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is within you, the Spirit whom you have from God?
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. None who are immoral, or idolaters, or adulterers, or catamites, or sodomites,10 or thieves, or avaricious men, or drunkards, or foul-mouthed men, or extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.11 Such were some of you, but you have washed away your stains, you have been consecrated, you have been justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.
18 Do not be drunk with wine, in which is riotous living, but drink deep in the Spirit,
23 Do not continue to drink nothing but water, but take a little wine for your stomachs sake, and your frequent attacks of illness.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the proud glory of life, is not from the Father, but from the world;
8 Be temperate, be vigilant; because your enemy, the devil, is prowling about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt lose its savor, in what way shall it be salted? It is henceforth good for nothing but to be thrown out and trodden under foot of men.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One; For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Amen.
11 For it is written, "As I live," says the Lord, "to me every knee shall bow, And to God shall every tongue confess."12 So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.
