Philippians 3

1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but for you it is safe. 2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision: 3 for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh: 4 though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh: if any other man thinketh to have confidence in the flesh, I yet more: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 as touching zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. 7 Howbeit what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ, 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: 10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death; 11 if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, 14 I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you: 16 only, whereunto we have attained, by that same rule let us walk.

17 Brethren, be ye imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as ye have us for an ensample. 18 For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.

1 Au reste, mes frères, réjouissez-vous au Seigneur. Je ne me lasse point de vous écrire les mêmes choses, et c’est votre sûreté.

2 Donnez-vous garde des chiens; donnez-vous garde des mauvais ouvriers; donnez-vous garde de la fausse circoncision.

3 Car c’est nous qui sommes la vraie circoncision, nous qui servons Dieu en esprit, qui nous glorifions en Jésus-Christ, et qui ne mettons point notre confiance en la chair.

4 Ce n’est pas que je ne pusse aussi me confler en la chair. Si quelqu’un croit qu’il a sujet de se confier en la chair, j’en ai encore davantage;

5 Moi qui ai été circoncis le huitième jour, qui suis de la race d’Israël, de la tribu de Benjamin, Hébreu, descendu des Hébreux; Pharisien en ce qui regarde la loi;

6 A l’égard du zèle, ayant persécuté l’Eglise, à l’égard de la justice de la loi, étant sans reproche.

7 Mais ce qui m’était alors un gain, je l’ai regardé comme une perte, à cause de Christ.

8 Et même, je regarde toutes les autres choses comme une perte, en comparaison de l’excellence de la connaissance de Jésus-Christ mon Seigneur, pour qui je me suis privé de toutes ces choses, et je ne les regarde que comme des ordures, pourvu que je gagne Christ,

9 Et que je sois trouvé en lui, ayant, non la justice qui me venait de la loi, mais celle qui vient de la foi en Christ, savoir, la justice qui vient de Dieu par la foi

10 Afin que je le connaisse, et l’efficace de sa résurrection, et la communion de ses souffrances, me rendant conforme à lui dans sa mort;

11 Pour parvenir, si je puis, à la résurrection des morts.

12 Non que j’aie déjà atteint le but, ou que je sois déjà parvenu à la perfection, mais je fais mes efforts pour y parvenir, et c’est pour cela aussi que Jésus-Christ m’a pris à lui.

13 Mes frères, pour moi, je ne me persuade pas d’être encore parvenu au but;

14 Mais ce que je fais, c’est qu’oubliant les choses qui sont derrière moi, et m’avançant vers celles qui sont devant moi, je cours vers le but, vers le prix de la vocation céleste de Dieu en Jésus-Christ.

15 Nous tous donc qui sommes parfaits, ayons ce même sentiment; et si vous pensez autrement, Dieu vous fera connaître ce qui en est.

16 Cependant, suivons la même règle dans les choses à la connaissance desquelles nous sommes parvenus, et soyons unis ensemble.

17 Soyez tous mes imitateurs, mes frères, et regardez à ceux qui se conduisent suivant le modèle que vous avez en nous.

18 Car il y en a plusieurs qui ont une telle conduite que je vous ai dit souvent, et que je vous le dis encore maintenant en pleurant, qu’ils sont ennemis de la croix de Christ;

19 Dont la fin sera la perdition; qui ont leur ventre pour Dieu, qui mettent leur gloire dans ce qui est leur confusion, et qui attachent leurs affections aux choses de la terre.

20 Mais pour nous, nous nous conduisons comme étant bourgeois des cieux, d’où nous attendons aussi le Sauveur, le Seigneur Jésus-Christ,

21 Qui transformera notre corps vil, pour le rendre conforme à son corps glorieux, par le pouvoir qu’il a de s’assujettir toutes choses.
