Jó 26

1 Jó tomou então a palavra nestes termos:

2 "Como tens ajudado bem o fraco e socorrido o braço sem vigor!

3 Como sabes aconselhar o ignorante e dar mostras de abundante sabedoria!

4 A quem diriges este discurso? Sob a inspiração de quem falas tu?

5 As sombras agitam-se sob a terra, as águas e seus habitantes estão temerosos.

6 A região dos mortos está descoberta diante dele, os infernos estão sem véu.

7 Ele estende o firmamento sobre o vácuo e suspende a terra sobre o nada.

8 Armazena as águas em suas nuvens e as nuvens não se rasgam sob seu peso.

9 Vela a face da lua, estendendo sobre ela a sua nuvem.

10 Traçou um círculo sobre a superfície das águas, até onde a luz confina com as trevas.

11 As colunas do céu estremecem e se assustam com a sua ameaça.

12 Com sua força fendeu o mar e com sua sabedoria destruiu Raab.

13 Seu sopro varreu os céus e sua mão feriu a serpente fugitiva.

14 Eis que tudo isso não é mais que o contorno de suas obras e se apenas percebemos um fraco eco dessas obras, quem compreenderá o trovão de seu poder?".

1 Then Job answered,

2 "How have you helped him who is without power!

How have you saved the arm that has no strength!

3 How have you counseled him who has no wisdom,

and plentifully declared sound knowledge!

4 To whom have you uttered words?

Whose spirit came out of you?

5 "The departed spirits tremble,

those beneath the waters and all that live in them.

6 Sheol * 26:6 Sheol is the place of the dead. is naked before God,

and Abaddon*26:6 Abaddon means Destroyer. has no covering.

7 He stretches out the north over empty space,

and hangs the earth on nothing.

8 He binds up the waters in his thick clouds,

and the cloud is not burst under them.

9 He encloses the face of his throne,

and spreads his cloud on it.

10 He has described a boundary on the surface of the waters,

and to the confines of light and darkness.

11 The pillars of heaven tremble

and are astonished at his rebuke.

12 He stirs up the sea with his power,

and by his understanding he strikes through Rahab.

13 By his Spirit the heavens are garnished.

His hand has pierced the swift serpent.

14 Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways.

How small a whisper do we hear of him!

But the thunder of his power who can understand?"
