1 Moise a vorbit căpeteniilor seminţiilor copiilor lui Israel, şi a zis: ,,Iată ce porunceşte Domnul.

2 Cînd un om va face o juruinţă Domnului, sau un jurămînt prin care se va lega printr'o făgăduială, să nu-şi calce cuvîntul, ci să facă potrivit cu tot ce i -a ieşit din gură.

3 Cînd o femeie va face o juruinţă Domnului şi se va lega printr'o făgăduială, în tinereţa ei şi în casa tatălui ei,

4 şi tatăl ei va afla de juruinţa pe care a făcut -o ea şi de făgăduiala cu care s'a legat, -dacă nu -i zice nimic în ziua cînd află de juruinţa ei, toate juruinţele ei vor fi primite, şi orice făgăduială cu care s'a legat ea, va fi primită;

5 dar dacă tatăl ei nu -i dă voie în ziua cînd ia cunoştinţă de juruinţa ei, toate juruinţele ei şi toate făgăduielile cu cari se va fi legat ea, nu vor avea nici o tărie; şi Domnul o va ierta, pentrucă nu i -a dat voie tatăl ei.

6 Cînd se va mărita, după ce a făcut juruinţe sau după ce s'a legat printr'un cuvînt ieşit de pe buzele ei,

7 şi bărbatul ei va lua cunoştinţă de lucrul acesta, şi nu -i va zice nimic în ziua cînd va lua cunoştinţă de ele, juruinţele ei vor rămînea în picioare; şi făgăduielile cu cari se va fi legat ea vor rămînea în picioare;

8 dar dacă bărbatul ei nu -i dă voie în ziua cînd ia cunoştinţă de juruinţa ei, el va desfiinţa juruinţa pe care a făcut -o şi cuvîntul scăpat de pe buzele ei, cu care s'a legat ea; şi Domnul o va ierta.

9 Juruinţa unei femei văduve sau despărţite de bărbat, făgăduinţa cu care se va fi legat ea, va rămînea în picioare pentru ea.

10 Cînd o femeie, fiind încă în casa bărbatului ei, va face juruinţe sau se va lega cu vreun jurămînt,

11 şi bărbatul ei va afla de lucru acesta, -dacă nu -i zice nimic şi n'o opreşte, toate juruinţele ei vor rămînea în picioare, şi toate făgăduinţele prin cari se va fi legat ea, vor rămînea în picioare;

12 dar dacă bărbatul ei nu le primeşte în ziua cînd află de ele, orice juruinţă şi orice făgăduială ieşite de pe buzele ei nu vor avea nici un preţ, bărbatul ei nu le -a primit; şi Domnul o va ierta.

13 Bărbatul ei poate întări şi bărbatul ei poate desfiinţa orice juruinţă, orice jurămînt cu care se leagă ea ca să-şi mîhnească sufletul.

14 Şi anume, dacă nu -i zice nimic zi de zi, după ce află de lucrul acesta, el întăreşte astfel toate juruinţele şi toate făgăduielile cu cari s'a legat ea; le întăreşte pentru că nu i -a zis nimic în ziua cînd a aflat de ele.

15 Dar dacă nu le primeşte, după ce a trecut ziua în care le -a aflat, va fi vinovat de păcatul nevestei lui.``

16 Acestea sînt legile pe cari le -a dat lui Moise Domnul, ca să aibă putere între un bărbat şi nevasta lui, între un tată şi fata lui, cînd ea este în tinereţă şi acasă la tatăl ei.

1 And Moses speaketh unto the heads of the tribes of the sons of Israel, saying, `This [is] the thing which Jehovah hath commanded:

2 `When a man voweth a vow to Jehovah, or hath sworn an oath to bind a bond on his soul, he doth not pollute his word; according to all that is going out from his mouth he doth.

3 `And when a woman voweth a vow to Jehovah, and hath bound a bond in the house of her father in her youth,

4 and her father hath heard her vow, and her bond which she hath bound on her soul, and her father hath kept silent at her, then have all her vows been established, and every bond which she hath bound on her soul is established.

5 `And if her father hath disallowed her in the day of his hearing, none of her vows and her bonds which she hath bound on her soul is established, and Jehovah is propitious to her, for her father hath disallowed her.

6 `And if she be at all to a husband, and her vows [are] on her, or a wrongful utterance [on] her lips, which she hath bound on her soul,

7 and her husband hath heard, and in the day of his hearing, he hath kept silent at her, then have her vows been established, and her bonds which she hath bound on her soul are established.

8 `And if in the day of her husband`s hearing he disalloweth her, then he hath broken her vow which [is] on her, and the wrongful utterance of her lips which she hath bound on her soul, and Jehovah is propitious to her.

9 `As to the vow of a widow or cast-out woman, all that she hath bound on her soul is established on her.

10 `And if [in] the house of her husband she hath vowed, or hath bound a bond on her soul with an oath,

11 and her husband hath heard, and hath kept silent at her -- he hath not disallowed her -- then have all her vows been established, and every bond which she hath bound on her soul is established.

12 `And if her husband doth certainly break them in the day of his hearing, none of the outgoing of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, is established -- her husband hath broken them -- and Jehovah is propitious to her.

13 `Every vow and every oath -- a bond to humble a soul -- her husband doth establish it, or her husband doth break it;

14 and if her husband certainly keep silent at her, from day unto day, then he hath established all her vows, or all her bonds which [are] upon her; he hath established them, for he hath kept silent at her in the day of his hearing;

15 and if he doth at all break them after his hearing, then he hath borne her iniquity.`

16 These [are] the statutes which Jehovah hath commanded Moses between a man and his wife, between a father and his daughter, in her youth, [in] the house of her father.
