29 "In those days, it will never again be said,
‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’ 31:29 Ezk 18:2
30 Rather, each will die for his own iniquity. 31:30 Dt 24:6; Ezk 18:20 Anyone who eats sour grapes — his own teeth will be set on edge.
29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. 30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
29 "In those days people will no longer say,
‘The parents have eaten sour grapes,
and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’
30 Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge.
29 In those days they shall no longer say:
Ezek. 18:2,3;[Lam. 5:7]"‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’
30 Ezek. 18:4But everyone shall die for his own iniquity. Each man who eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.
29 "The people will no longer quote this proverb:
‘The parents have eaten sour grapes,
but their children’s mouths pucker at the taste.’
30 All people will die for their own sins—those who eat the sour grapes will be the ones whose mouths will pucker.
29 Lam. 5:7; Ezek. 18:2, 3In those days they shall say no more:
‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
And the children’s teeth are set on edge.’
30 Deut. 24:16; 2 Chr. 25:4; Is. 3:11; (Ezek. 18:4, 20; Gal. 6:5, 7)But every one shall die for his own iniquity; every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.
29 "In those days they will no longer say,
‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
31:29 I.e., the children suffer for the fathers’ sins But it is the children’s teeth that have become blunt.’
30 But everyone will die for his own wrongdoing; each person who eats the sour grapes, his own teeth will become blunt.
29 In those days they shall say no more: The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the teeth of the children are set on edge. 30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that shall eat the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
29 "When that time comes you won’t hear the old proverb anymore,
Parents ate the green apples,
their children got the stomachache.
30 "No, each person will pay for his own sin. You eat green apples, you’re the one who gets sick.
