1 Then the chief fathers of the Levites drew near to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;
2 and they spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, Jehovah commanded through Moses to give us cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for our cattle.
3 And the children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, according to the word of Jehovah, these cities and their suburbs.
4 And the lot came forth for the families of the Kohathites. And the children of Aaron the priest, of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
5 And the children of Kohath that remained had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
6 And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
7 The children of Merari according to their families had by lot out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8 And the children of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities and their suburbs, as Jehovah commanded through Moses.
9 And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which were mentioned by name,
10 and which the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, of the children of Levi had (for theirs was the first lot);
11 and they gave them Kirjath-Arba, {which Arba was} the father of Anak, that is, Hebron, in the mountain of Judah, with its suburbs round about it.
12 But the fields of the city and the hamlets thereof gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
13 And they gave to the children of Aaron the priest the city of refuge for the slayer, Hebron and its suburbs; and Libnah and its suburbs,
14 and Jattir and its suburbs, and Eshtemoa and its suburbs,
15 and Holon and its suburbs, and Debir and its suburbs,
16 and Ain and its suburbs, and Juttah and its suburbs, {and} Beth-shemesh and its suburbs: nine cities out of those two tribes;
17 and out of the tribe of Benjamin: Gibeon and its suburbs, Geba and its suburbs,
18 Anathoth and its suburbs, and Almon and its suburbs; four cities.
19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities and their suburbs.
20 And to the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites that remained of the children of Kohath, {they gave cities}. And the cities of their lot were out of the tribe of Ephraim,
21 and they gave them the city of refuge for the slayer, Shechem and its suburbs in mount Ephraim; and Gezer and its suburbs,
22 and Kibzaim and its suburbs, and Beth-horon and its suburbs: four cities;
23 and out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh and its suburbs, Gibbethon and its suburbs,
24 Ajalon and its suburbs, Gath-Rimmon and its suburbs: four cities;
25 and out of half the tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and its suburbs and Gath-Rimmon and its suburbs: two cities.
26 All the cities were ten and their suburbs, for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.
27 And to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of half the tribe of Manasseh, {they gave} the city of refuge for the slayer, Golan in Bashan and its suburbs; and Beeshterah and its suburbs: two cities;
28 and out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion and its suburbs, Dabrath and its suburbs,
29 Jarmuth and its suburbs, En-gannim and its suburbs: four cities;
30 and out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal and its suburbs, Abdon and its suburbs,
31 Helkath and its suburbs, and Rehob and its suburbs: four cities;
32 and out of the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the slayer, Kedesh in Galilee, and its suburbs; and Hammoth-Dor and its suburbs, and Kartan and its suburbs: three cities.
33 All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities and their suburbs.
34 And to the families of the children of Merari, that remained of the Levites, {they gave} out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and its suburbs, Kartah and its suburbs,
35 Dimnah and its suburbs, Nahalal and its suburbs: four cities;
36 and out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and its suburbs, and Jahzah and its suburbs,
37 Kedemoth and its suburbs, and Mephaath and its suburbs: four cities;
38 and out of the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge for the slayer, Ramoth in Gilead and its suburbs; and Mahanaim and its suburbs,
39 Heshbon and its suburbs, Jaazer and its suburbs: four cities in all.
40 {These were} all the cities of the children of Merari according to their families, which remained of the families of the Levites, and their lot was twelve cities.
41 All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty-eight cities and their suburbs.
42 Each one of these cities had its suburbs round about it: thus were all these cities.
43 And Jehovah gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give unto their fathers; and they took possession of it, and dwelt in it.
44 And Jehovah gave them rest round about, according to all that he had sworn unto their fathers; and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them: Jehovah gave all their enemies into their hand.
45 There failed nothing of all the good things that Jehovah had spoken to the house of Israel: all came to pass.

2 Et leur parlèrent, à Silo dans le pays de Canaan, en disant : L'Eternel a commandé par le moyen de Moïse qu'on nous donnât des villes pour habiter, et leurs faubourgs pour nos bêtes.
3 Et ainsi les enfants d'Israël donnèrent de leur héritage aux Lévites, suivant le commandement de l'Eternel, ces villes-ci avec leurs faubourgs.
4 Et on tira au sort pour les familles des Kéhathites. Or il échut par sort aux enfants d'Aaron le Sacrificateur qui étaient d'entre les Lévites, treize villes, de la Tribu de Juda, et de la Tribu des Siméonites, et de la Tribu de Benjamin.
5 Et il échut par sort au reste des enfants de Kéhath dix villes des familles de la Tribu d'Ephraïm, et de la Tribu de Dan, et de la moitié de la Tribu de Manassé.
6 Et les enfants de Guerson eurent par sort treize villes, des familles de la Tribu d'Issacar, et de la Tribu d'Aser, et de la Tribu de Nephthali, et de la demi-Tribu de Manassé en Basan.
7 Et les enfants de Mérari selon leurs familles, [eurent] douze villes, de la Tribu de Ruben, et de la Tribu de Gad, et de la Tribu de Zabulon.
8 Les enfants donc d'Israël donnèrent donc par sort aux Lévites ces villes-là avec leurs faubourgs, selon que l'Eternel l'avait commandé par le moyen de Moïse.
9 Ils donnèrent donc de la Tribu des enfants de Juda, et de la Tribu des enfants de Siméon, ces villes, qui vont être nommées par leurs noms.
10 Et elles furent pour ceux des enfants d'Aaron, qui étaient des familles des Kéhathites, enfants de Lévi, car le premier sort fut pour eux.
11 On leur donna donc Kirjath-Arbah; [or Arbah était] père de Hanak, [et] Kirjath-Arbah est Hébron, en la montagne de Juda, avec ses faubourgs tout à l'entour.
12 Mais quant au territoire de la ville, et à ses villages, on les donna à Caleb, fils de Jéphunné, pour sa possession.
13 On donna donc aux enfants d'Aaron le Sacrificateur pour villes de refuge au meurtrier, Hébron, avec ses faubourgs, et Libna, avec ses faubourgs.
14 Et Jattir, avec ses faubourgs, et Estemoab, avec ses faubourgs,
15 Et Holon, avec ses faubourgs, et Débir, avec ses faubourgs,
16 Et Hajin, avec ses faubourgs, et Jutta, avec ses faubourgs; et Beth-semes, avec ses faubourgs; neuf villes de ces deux Tribus-là.
17 Et de la Tribu de Benjamin, Gabaon, avec ses faubourgs, et Guebah, avec ses faubourgs,
18 Hanathoth, avec ses faubourgs, et Halmon, avec ses faubourgs; quatre villes.
19 Toutes les villes des enfants d'Aaron Sacrificateurs, furent treize villes, avec leurs faubourgs.
20 Or quant aux familles des enfants de Kéhath Lévites, qui étaient le reste des enfants de Kéhath, il y eut dans leur sort des villes de la Tribu d'Ephraïm.
21 On leur donna donc pour villes de refuge au meurtrier, Sichem, avec ses faubourgs, en la montagne d'Ephraïm, et Guézer avec ses faubourgs.
22 Et Kibtsajim, avec ses faubourgs, et Beth-horon, avec ses faubourgs; quatre villes.
23 Et de la Tribu de Dan, Elteké, avec ses faubourgs; Guibbethon, avec ses faubourgs,
24 Ajalon, avec ses faubourgs, Gath-rimmon, avec ses faubourgs; quatre villes.
25 Et de la demi-Tribu de Manassé, Tahanac, avec ses faubourgs; et Gath-rimmon, avec ses faubourgs, deux villes.
26 [Ainsi] dix villes en tout avec leurs faubourgs, furent pour les familles des enfants de Kéhath, qui étaient de reste.
27 On donna aussi de la demi-Tribu de Manassé aux enfants de Guerson, qui étaient des familles des Lévites, pour villes de refuge au meurtrier, Golan en Basan, avec ses faubourgs, et Behestera, avec ses faubourgs; deux villes.
28 Et de la Tribu d'Issacar, Kisjon, avec ses faubourgs, Dobrath, avec ses faubourgs,
29 Jarmuth, avec ses faubourgs, Hengannim, avec ses faubourgs; quatre villes.
30 Et de la Tribu d'Aser, Miséal, avec ses faubourgs, Habdon, avec ses faubourgs,
31 Helkath, avec ses faubourgs, et Rehob, avec ses faubourgs; quatre villes.
32 Et de la Tribu de Nephthali, pour villes de refuge au meurtrier, Kédès en Galilée avec ses faubourgs, Hammoth-Dor, avec ses faubourgs, et Kartan, avec ses faubourgs; trois villes.
33 Toutes les villes [donc] des Guersonites selon leurs familles, furent treize villes, et leurs faubourgs.
34 On donna aussi de la Tribu de Zabulon aux familles des enfants de Mérari, qui étaient les Lévites qui restaient, Jokneham, avec ses faubourgs, Karta, avec ses faubourgs,
35 Dimnah, avec ses faubourgs, et Nahalal, avec ses faubourgs; quatre villes.
36 Et de la Tribu de Ruben, Betser, avec ses faubourgs, et Jahasa, avec ses faubourgs;
37 Kédémoth, avec ses faubourgs, et Méphahat, avec ses faubourgs; quatre villes.
38 Et de la Tribu de Gad, pour villes de refuge au meurtrier, Ramoth en Galaad, avec ses faubourgs, et Mahanajim, avec ses faubourgs,
39 Hesbon, avec ses faubourgs, et Jahzer, avec ses faubourgs; en tout quatre villes.
40 Toutes ces villes-là furent données aux enfants de Mérari, selon leurs familles, qui étaient le reste des familles des Lévites; et leur sort fut de douze villes.
41 Toutes les villes des Lévites qui étaient parmi la possession des enfants d'Israël, furent quarante-huit, et leurs faubourgs.
42 Chacune de ces villes avait ses faubourgs autour d'elle; il en [devait être] ainsi de toutes ces villes-là.
43 L'Eternel donc donna à Israël tout le pays qu'il avait juré de donner à leurs pères; et ils le possédèrent, et y habitèrent.
44 Et l'Eternel leur donna un parfait repos tout alentour, selon tout ce qu'il avait juré à leurs pères; et il n'y eut aucun de tous leurs ennemis qui subsistât devant eux; [mais] l'Eternel livra tous leurs ennemis en leurs mains.
45 Il ne tomba pas un seul mot de toutes les bonnes paroles que l'Eternel avait dites à la maison d'Israël; tout arriva.
