1 If then there be any comfort in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and compassions, 2 fulfil my joy, that ye may think the same thing, having the same love, joined in soul, thinking one thing; 3 let nothing be in the spirit of strife or vain glory, but, in lowliness of mind, each esteeming the other as more excellent than themselves; 4 regarding not each his own qualities, but each those of others also. 5 For let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus; 6 who, subsisting in the form of God, did not esteem it an object of rapine to be on an equality with God; 7 but emptied himself, taking a bondman’s form, taking his place in the likeness of men; 8 and having been found in figure as a man, humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, and that the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and granted him a name, that which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of heavenly and earthly and infernal beings, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to God the Father’s glory.
12 So that, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much rather in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you both the willing and the working according to his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and reasonings, 15 that ye may be harmless and simple, irreproachable children of God in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation; among whom ye appear as lights in the world, 16 holding forth the word of life, so as to be a boast for me in Christ’s day, that I have not run in vain nor laboured in vain. 17 But if also I am poured out as a libation on the sacrifice and ministration of your faith, I rejoice, and rejoice in common with you all. 18 In like manner do ye also rejoice, and rejoice with me. 19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus to you shortly, that I also may be refreshed, knowing how ye get on. 20 For I have no one like-minded who will care with genuine feeling how ye get on. 21 For all seek their own things, not the things of Jesus Christ. 22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a child a father, he has served with me in the work of the glad tidings. 23 Him therefore I hope to send immediately, as soon as I shall see how it goes with me: 24 but I trust in the Lord that I myself also shall soon come; 25 but I have thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow-workman and fellow-soldier, but your messenger and minister to my need, 26 since he had a longing desire after you all, and was distressed because ye had heard that he was sick; 27 for he was also sick close to death, but God had mercy on him, and not indeed on him alone, but also on me, that I might not have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that seeing him ye might again rejoice, and that I might be the less sorrowful. 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such in honour; 30 because for the sake of the work he drew near even to death, venturing his life that he might fill up what lacked in your ministration toward me.
1 POR tanto, si hay alguna consolación en Cristo; si algún refrigerio de amor; 2.1 2 Co. 13.13.si alguna comunión del Espíritu; si algunas 2.1 Col. 3.12.entrañas y misericordias,
2 Cumplid mi gozo; 2.2 cp. 3.16.que sintáis lo mismo, teniendo el mismo amor, unánimes, sintiendo una misma cosa.
3 Nada hagáis por 2.3 cp. 1.16.contienda ó por vanagloria; antes bien 2.3 Ef. 4.2.en humildad, 2.3 Ro. 12.10.estimándoos inferiores los unos á los otros:
4 No mirando cada uno á lo suyo propio, sino 2.4 Ro. 15.2.cada cual también á lo de los otros.
5 Haya, pues, en vosotros 2.5 Mt. 11.29.este sentir que hubo también en Cristo Jesús:
6 El cual, 2.6 Jn. 1.1,2 y 17.5. 2 Co. 4.4.siendo en forma de Dios, 2.6 Jn. 5.18 y 10.33.no tuvo por usurpación ser igual á Dios:
7 Sin embargo, 2.7 Is. 53.3. 2 Co. 8.9.se anonadó á sí mismo, 2.7 Is. 42.1. Mt. 20.28.tomando forma de siervo, hecho semejante á los hombres;
8 Y hallado en la condición como hombre, se humilló á sí mismo, 2.8 Mt. 26.39,42. He. 5.8.hecho obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.
9 2.9 Jn. 10.17. Por lo cual 2.9 Mt. 28.18.Dios también le ensalzó á lo sumo, y 2.9 Ef. 1.21.dióle un nombre que es sobre todo nombre;
10 Para que en el nombre de Jesús se doble 2.10 Ef. 3.14.toda rodilla de 2.10 Ap. 5.3,13.los que están en los cielos, y de los que en la tierra, y de los que debajo de la tierra;
11 Y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es 2.11 Ro. 14.9.el Señor, á la gloria de Dios Padre.
12 Por tanto, amados míos, como siempre habéis obedecido, no como en mi presencia solamente, sino mucho más ahora en mi ausencia, ocupaos en vuestra salvación con 2.12 Ef. 6.5.temor y temblor;
13 Porque 2.13 1 Co. 15.10. He. 13.21.Dios es el que en vosotros obra así el querer como el hacer, por su buena voluntad.
14 Haced todo sin murmuraciones y contiendas,
15 Para que seáis irreprensibles y sencillos, 2.15 Mt. 5.45.hijos de Dios sin culpa 2.15 1 P. 2.12.en medio de la nación 2.15 Hch. 2.40.maligna y perversa, entre los cuales resplandecéis 2.15 Mt. 5.14,16.como luminares en el mundo;
16 Reteniendo 2.16 He. 4.12.la palabra de vida para que 2.16 2 Co. 1.14.yo pueda gloriarme en el día de Cristo, que 2.16 1 Co. 9.24. Ga. 2.2.no he corrido en vano, ni 2.16 1 Ts. 3.5.trabajado en vano.

17 Y aun si 2.17 2 Ti. 4.6.soy derramado en libación sobre el sacrificio 2.17 Ro. 15.16.y servicio de vuestra fe, 2.17 2 Co. 7.4. Col. 1.24.me gozo y congratulo por todos vosotros.
18 Y asimismo gozaos también vosotros, y regocijaos conmigo.
19 Mas espero en el Señor Jesús enviaros presto á 2.19 Hch. 16.1.Timoteo, para que yo también esté de buen ánimo, entendido vuestro estado.
20 Porque á ninguno tengo tan unánime, y que con sincera afición esté solícito por vosotros.
21 Porque 2.21 2 Ti. 4.10,16.todos 2.21 1 Co. 10.24.buscan lo suyo propio, no lo que es de Cristo Jesús.
22 Pero la experiencia de él habéis conocido, 2.22 1 Co. 4.17. 1 Ti. 1.2. 2 Ti. 1.2.que como hijo á padre ha servido conmigo en el evangelio.
23 Así que á éste espero enviaros, luego que yo viere cómo van mis negocios;
24 Y 2.24 cp. 1.25.confío en el Señor que yo también iré presto á vosotros.
25 Mas tuve por cosa necesaria enviaros á 2.25 cp. 4.18.Epafrodito, mi hermano, y colaborador y compañero de milicia, y vuestro mensajero, y ministrador de mis necesidades;
26 Porque tenía gran deseo de ver á todos vosotros, y gravemente se angustió porque habíais oído que había enfermado.
27 Pues en verdad estuvo enfermo á la muerte: mas Dios tuvo misericordia de él; y no solamente de él, sino aun de mí, para que yo no tuviese tristeza sobre tristeza.
28 Así que le envío más presto, para que viéndole os volváis á gozar, y yo esté con menos tristeza.
29 Recibidle pues en el Señor con todo gozo; y tened en estima á los tales:
30 Porque por la obra de Cristo estuvo cercano á la muerte, poniendo su vida 2.30 1 Co. 16.17.para suplir vuestra falta en mi servicio.
