1 And now, ye priests, this commandment is for you. 2 If ye do not hear, and if ye do not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will even send the curse among you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have already cursed them, because ye do not lay it to heart. 3 Behold, I will rebuke your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, the dung of your feasts; and they shall take you away with it. 4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts. 5 My covenant with him was of life and peace, and I gave them to him that he might fear; and he feared me, and trembled before my name. 6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity. 7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and at his mouth they seek the law; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts. 8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts. 9 And I also have made you contemptible and base before all the people, because ye have not kept my ways, but have respect of persons in administering the law.
10 Have we not all one father? Hath not one ·GodGodHebrew: El created us? Why do we deal unfaithfully every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers? 11 Judah hath dealt unfaithfully, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the sanctuary of Jehovah which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange godgodHebrew: el12 Jehovah will cut off from the tents of Jacob the man that doeth this, him that calleth and him that answereth; and him that offereth an oblation unto Jehovah of hosts. 13 And further ye do this: ye cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, insomuch that he regardeth not the oblation any more, nor receiveth it with satisfaction at your hand. 14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because Jehovah hath been a witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt unfaithfully: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 15 And did not one make them? and the remnant of the Spirit was his. And wherefore the one? He sought a seed of GodGodHebrew: Elohim Take heed then to your spirit, and let none deal unfaithfully against the wife of his youth, 16 (for I hate putting away, saith Jehovah the GodGodHebrew: Elohim of Israel;) and he covereth with violence his garment, saith Jehovah of hosts: take heed then to your spirit, that ye deal not unfaithfully. 17 Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words, and ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? In that ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of Jehovah, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the GodGodHebrew: Elohim of judgment?
1 AHORA pues, 2.1 cp. 1.6.oh sacerdotes, á vosotros es este mandamiento.
2 Si no oyereis, y si no acordareis dar gloria á mi nombre, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, 2.2 Dt. 28.20.enviaré maldición sobre vosotros, y maldeciré 2.2 Sal. 69.22.vuestras bendiciones; y aun las he maldecido, porque no lo ponéis en vuestro corazón.

3 He aquí, yo os daño la sementera, y 2.3 Nah. 3.6.esparciré el estiércol sobre vuestros rostros, 2.3 Ex. 29.14.el estiércol de vuestras solemnidades, y con él 2.3 1 R. 14.10.seréis removidos.
4 Y sabréis que yo os envié este mandamiento, para que fuese 2.4 Nm. 25.12. Neh. 13.29. cp. 3.1mi pacto con Leví, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos.
5 2.5 Is. 54.10. Mi pacto fué con él de vida y de paz, las cuales cosas yo le dí por el temor; porque me temió, y delante de mi nombre estuvo humillado.
6 La Ley 2.6 Dt. 33.10.de verdad estuvo en su boca, é iniquidad no fué hallada en sus labios: en paz y en justicia anduvo conmigo, y á muchos hizo apartar de la iniquidad.
7 Porque 2.7 Lv. 10.11. Dt. 17.9. Jer. 18.18. Ez. 7.26.los labios de los sacerdotes han de guardar la sabiduría, y de su boca buscarán la ley; 2.7 Hag. 1.13.porque mensajero es de Jehová de los ejércitos.
8 Mas vosotros os habéis apartado del camino; habéis hecho tropezar á muchos en la ley; 2.8 Nm. 25.12. Neh. 13.29. cp. 3.1habéis corrompido el pacto de Leví, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.
9 Por tanto, 2.9 ver. 3. Nah. 3.6.yo también os torné viles y bajos á todo el pueblo, según que vosotros no habéis guardado mis caminos, y en la ley tenéis acepción de personas.
10 ¿No tenemos 2.10 1 Co. 8.6. Ef. 4.6.todos un mismo padre? 2.10 Hch. 17.26.¿No nos ha criado un mismo Dios? ¿Por qué menospreciaremos cada uno á su hermano, quebrantando el pacto de nuestros padres?
11 Prevaricó Judá, y en 2.11 cp. 1.1.Israel y en Jerusalem ha sido cometida abominación; porque Judá ha profanado la santidad de Jehová que amó, 2.11 Esd. 9.2.y casádose con 2.11 Jer. 2.27.hija de dios extraño.
12 Jehová talará de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que hiciere esto, al que vela, y al que responde, y al que ofrece presente á Jehová de los ejércitos.
13 Y esta otra vez haréis cubrir el altar de Jehová de lágrimas, de llanto, y de clamor; así que no miraré más á presente, para aceptarlo con gusto de vuestra mano.
14 Mas diréis: ¿Por qué? Porque Jehová ha atestiguado entre ti y la 2.14 ver. 15. Is. 54.6.mujer de tu mocedad, contra la cual tú has sido desleal, siendo ella tu compañera, y la mujer de tu pacto.
15 Pues qué 2.15 Mt. 19.4,5.¿no hizo él uno solo aunque tenía la abundancia del espíritu? ¿Y por qué uno? Para que procurara una simiente de Dios. Guardaos pues en vuestros espíritus, y contra la mujer de vuestra mocedad no seáis desleales.
16 Porque Jehová Dios de Israel ha dicho que él aborrece que sea repudiada; y cubra la iniquidad con su vestido, dijo Jehová de los ejércitos. Guardaos pues en vuestros espíritus, y no seáis desleales.
17 2.17 Is. 43.24. Habéis hecho cansar á Jehová con vuestras palabras. Y diréis: ¿En qué le hemos cansado? Cuando decís: Cualquiera que mal hace agrada á Jehová, y en los tales toma contentamiento: de otra manera, 2.17 2 P. 3.4.¿dónde está el Dios de juicio?
