1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans, 2 in the first year of his reign, I Daniel understood by the books that the number of the years, whereof the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah the prophet, for the accomplishment of the desolations of Jerusalem, was seventy years. 3 And I set my face unto the Lord God*GodHebrew: Elohim to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes;

4 and I prayed unto Jehovah my God*GodHebrew: Elohim and made my confession, and said, Alas Lord! the great and terrible ·God*GodHebrew: El keeping covenant and loving-kindness with them that love him, and that keep his commandments: 5 we have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from thy commandments and from thine ordinances. 6 And we have not hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, who spoke in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 7 Thine, O Lord, is the righteousness, but unto us confusion of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, in all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their unfaithfulness in which they have been unfaithful against thee. 8 O Lord, unto us is confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. 9 With the Lord our God*GodHebrew: Elohim are mercies and pardons, for we have rebelled against him; 10 and we have not hearkened unto the voice of Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim to walk in his laws, which he set before us through his servants the prophets. 11 And all Israel have transgressed thy law, even turning aside so as not to listen unto thy voice. And the curse hath been poured out upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God*GodHebrew: Elohim for we have sinned against him. 12 And he hath performed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil; so that there hath not been done under the whole heaven as hath been done upon Jerusalem. 13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us; yet we besought not Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. 14 And Jehovah hath watched over the evil, and brought it upon us; for Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim is righteous in all his works which he hath done; and we have not hearkened unto his voice. 15 — And now, O Lord our God*GodHebrew: Elohim who broughtest thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a strong hand, and hast made thee a name, as it is this day, — we have sinned, we have done wickedly. 16 Lord, according to all thy righteousnesses, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain; for because of our sins, and because of the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all round about us. 17 And now, our God*GodHebrew: Elohim hearken to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake. 18 Incline thine ear, O my God*GodHebrew: Elohim and hear; open thine eyes and behold our desolations, and the city that is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee because of our righteousnesses, but because of thy manifold mercies. 19 Lord, hear! Lord, forgive! Lord, hearken and do! defer not, for thine own sake, O my God*GodHebrew: Elohim for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

20 And whilst I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Jehovah my God*GodHebrew: Elohim for the holy mountain of my God*GodHebrew: Elohim21 whilst I was yet speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, flying swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. 22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, Daniel, I am now come forth to make thee skilful of understanding. 23 At the beginning of thy supplications the word went forth, and I am come to declare it; for thou art one greatly beloved. Therefore consider the word, and have understanding in the vision: 24 Seventy weeks are apportioned out upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to close the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make expiation for iniquity, and to bring in the righteousness of the ages, and to seal the vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies. 25 Know therefore and understand: From the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem unto Messiah, the Prince, are seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. The street and the moat shall be built again, even in troublous times. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, and shall have nothing; and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with an overflow, and unto the end, war, — the desolations determined. 27 And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week; and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and because of the protection of abominations there shall be a desolator, even until that the consumption and what is determined shall be poured out upon the desolate.

„Doamne*Exod 20:6.Deut. 7:9.Neem. 1:5;9:32. Dumnezeule mare și înfricoșat, Tu, care ții legământul și dai îndurare celor ce Te iubesc și păzesc poruncile Tale! 5 Noi*1 Împ. 8:47,48.Neem. 1:6,7;9:33,34.Ps. 106:6.Is. 64:5-7.Ier. 14:7. Vers. 15. am păcătuit, am săvârșit nelegiuire, am fost răi și îndărătnici, ne-am abătut de la poruncile și orânduirile Tale. 6 N-am ascultat*2 Cron. 36:15,16. Vers. 10. pe robii Tăi prorocii, care au vorbit în Numele Tău împăraților noștri, căpeteniilor noastre, părinților noștri și către tot poporul țării. 7 Tu, Doamne, ești*Neem. 9:33. drept, iar nouă ni se cuvine astăzi să ni se umple fața de rușine, nouă, tuturor oamenilor lui Iuda, locuitorilor Ierusalimului și întregului Israel, fie ei aproape, fie departe, în toate țările în care i-ai izgonit din pricina fărădelegilor de care s-au făcut vinovați față de Tine! 8 Doamne, nouă ni se cuvine să ni se umple fața de rușine*Vers. 7., da, nouă, împăraților noștri, căpeteniilor noastre și părinților noștri, pentru că am păcătuit împotriva Ta! 9 La Domnul Dumnezeul nostru*Neem. 9:17.Ps. 130:4,7. însă sunt îndurarea și iertarea, căci împotriva Lui ne-am răzvrătit! 10 N-am ascultat*Vers. 6. glasul Domnului Dumnezeului nostru, ca să urmăm legile Lui pe care ni le pusese înainte prin robii Săi, prorocii, 11 ci tot Israelul*Is. 1:4-6.Ier. 8:5,10. a călcat Legea Ta și s-a abătut astfel ca să n-asculte de glasul Tău. De aceea, ne-au și lovit blestemele și jurămintele scrise în Legea*Lev. 26:14.Deut. 27:15;28:15;29:20;30:17,18;31:17;32:19.Plâng. 2:17. lui Moise, robul lui Dumnezeu, pentru că am păcătuit împotriva lui Dumnezeu. 12 El a împlinit*Zah. 1:6. astfel cuvintele pe care le rostise împotriva noastră și împotriva căpeteniilor noastre, care ne-au cârmuit, și a adus peste noi o mare nenorocire, așa cum niciodată și nicăieri sub cer nu s-a mai întâmplat*Plâng. 1:12;2:13.Ezec. 5:9.Amos 3:2. o nenorocire ca aceea care a venit acum asupra Ierusalimului. 13 După cum*Lev. 26:14.Deut. 28:15.Plâng. 2:17. este scris în Legea lui Moise, toată nenorocirea aceasta a venit peste noi, și noi n-am rugat*Is. 9:13.Ier. 2:30;5:3.Osea 7:7,10. pe Domnul Dumnezeul nostru, nu ne-am întors de la nelegiuirile noastre și n-am luat aminte la adevărul Tău. 14 De aceea, și Domnul a îngrijit*Ier. 31:28;44:27. ca nenorocirea aceasta să vină peste noi; căci Domnul Dumnezeul nostru*Neem. 9:33. Vers. 7. este drept în toate lucrurile pe care le-a făcut, dar noi n-am ascultat*Vers. 10. glasul Lui. 15 Și acum, Doamne, Dumnezeul nostru, Tu, care ai scos*Exod 6:1,6;32:11.1 Împ. 8:51.Neem. 1:10.Ier. 32:21. pe poporul Tău din țara Egiptului prin mâna Ta cea puternică și Ți-ai făcut un Nume*Exod 14:18.Neem. 9:10.Ier. 32:20., așa cum este și astăzi: noi am păcătuit*Vers. 5., am săvârșit nelegiuire. 16 Dar, Doamne, după toată îndurarea Ta*1 Sam. 12:7.Ps. 31:1;71:2.Mica 6:4,5., abate mânia și urgia Ta de la cetatea Ta, Ierusalimul, de la muntele*Vers. 20.Zah. 8:3. Tău cel sfânt, căci din pricina păcatelor noastre și din pricina nelegiuirilor*Exod 20:5. părinților noștri sunt Ierusalimul*Plâng. 2:15,16. și poporul Tău de ocara*Ps. 44:13,14;79:4. tuturor celor ce ne înconjoară. 17 Ascultă dar, acum, Dumnezeul nostru, rugăciunea și cererile robului Tău și, pentru dragostea*Plâng. 5:18. Domnului, fă*Vers. 19. să strălucească Fața Ta peste Sfântul Tău Locaș pustiit*Num. 6:25.Ps. 67:1;80:3,7,19.Ioan 16:24.! 18 Pleacă*Is. 37:17. urechea, Dumnezeule, și ascultă! Deschide ochii și privește*Exod 3:7.Ps. 80:14. la dărâmăturile noastre și la cetatea peste care este chemat Numele*Ier. 25:29. Tău! Căci nu pentru neprihănirea noastră Îți aducem noi cererile noastre, ci pentru îndurările Tale cele mari. 19 Ascultă, Doamne! Iartă, Doamne! Ia aminte, Doamne! Lucrează și nu zăbovi, din dragoste pentru Tine*Ps. 79:9,10;102:15,16., Dumnezeul meu! Căci Numele Tău este chemat peste cetatea Ta și peste poporul Tău!" 20 Pe când*Ps. 32:5.Is. 65:24. încă vorbeam eu, mă rugam, îmi mărturiseam păcatul meu și păcatul poporului meu Israel și îmi aduceam cererile înaintea Domnului Dumnezeului meu pentru muntele cel sfânt al Dumnezeului meu; 21 pe când vorbeam eu încă în rugăciunea mea, a venit repede în zbor, iute, omul Gavril*Cap. 8:16., pe care-l văzusem mai înainte într-o vedenie și m-a atins*Cap. 8:18;10:10,16. în clipa*1 Împ. 18:36. când se aducea jertfa de seară. 22 El m-a învățat, a stat de vorbă cu mine și mi-a zis: „Daniele, am venit acum să-ți luminez mintea. 23 Când ai început tu să te rogi, a ieșit cuvântul, și eu*Cap. 10:12. vin să ți-l vestesc; căci tu ești preaiubit*Cap. 10:11,19. și scump. Ia aminte*Mat. 24:15. dar la cuvântul acesta și înțelege vedenia! 24 Șaptezeci de săptămâni au fost hotărâte asupra poporului tău și asupra cetății tale celei sfinte, până la încetarea fărădelegilor, până la ispășirea păcatelor*Is. 53:10., până la ispășirea nelegiuirii, până la aducerea neprihănirii*Is. 53:11.Ier. 23:5,6.Evr. 9:12.Apoc. 14:6. veșnice, până la pecetluirea vedeniei și a prorociei și până la ungerea*Ps. 45:7.Luca 1:35.Ioan 1:41.Evr. 9:11. Sfântului sfinților. 25 Să știi*Vers. 23.Mat. 24:15. dar și să înțelegi că, de la*Ezra 4:24;6:1,15;7:1.Neem. 2:1,3,5,6,8. darea poruncii pentru zidirea din nou a Ierusalimului până la Unsul (Mesia)*Ioan 1:41;4:25., la Cârmuitorul*Is. 55:4., vor trece șapte săptămâni; apoi timp de șaizeci și două de săptămâni, piețele și gropile vor fi zidite din nou, și anume*Neem. 4:8,16-18;6:15. în vremuri de strâmtorare. 26 După aceste șaizeci și două de săptămâni, Unsul*Is. 53:8.Marcu 9:12.Luca 24:46. va fi stârpit și nu*1 Pet. 2:21;3:18. va avea nimic.
