1 Collect yourselves and gather together, O nation without shame, 2 before the decree bring forth, before the day pass away as chaff, before the fierce anger of Jehovah come upon you, before the day of Jehovah’s anger come upon you. 3 Seek Jehovah, all ye meek of the land, who have performed his ordinance; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of Jehovah’s anger.

4 For Gazah shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon shall be a desolation; they shall drive out Ashdod at noonday, and Ekron shall be rooted up. 5 Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea-coast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of Jehovah is against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines: I will destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant; 6 and the sea-coast shall be cave-dwellings for shepherds, and folds for flocks. 7 And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for Jehovah their God*GodHebrew: Elohim shall visit them, and turn again their captivity.

8 I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, wherewith they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border. 9 Therefore, as I live, saith Jehovah of hosts, the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel, Moab shall certainly be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles, and salt-pits, and a perpetual desolation; the remnant of my people shall spoil them, and the residue of my nation shall possess them. 10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Jehovah of hosts. 11 Jehovah will be terrible unto them; for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and all the isles of the nations shall worship him, every one from his place.

12 Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be the slain of my sword. 13 And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, a place of drought like the wilderness. 14 And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the crowd of beasts; both the pelican and the bittern shall lodge in the chapiters thereof; a voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be on the thresholds: for he hath laid bare the cedar work. 15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt in security, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none else beside me: how is she become a desolation, a couching-place for beasts! Every one that passeth by her shall hiss, shall wave his hand.

Poate că*Ioel 2:14.Amos 5:15.Iona 3:9. veți fi cruțați în ziua mâniei Domnului. 4 Căci Gaza*Ier. 47:4,5.Ezec. 25:15.Amos 1:6-8.Zah. 9:5,6. va fi părăsită, Ascalonul va fi pustiit, poporul din Asdod va fi izgonit ziua-n amiaza*Ier. 6:4;15:8. mare și Ecronul va fi smuls din rădăcini. 5 Vai de locuitorii de pe malurile mării*Ezec. 25:16., vai de neamul cheretiților! Așa a vorbit Domnul împotriva ta, Canaane*Ios. 13:3., țara filistenilor: „Te voi nimici și nu vei mai avea locuitori! 6 Malurile mării vor ajunge islazuri de pășunat, locuințe pentru păstori și târle*Is. 17:2. Vers. 14. de oi. 7 Malurile acestea vor fi pentru rămășițele*Is. 11:11.Mica 4:7;5:7,8.Hag. 1:12;2:2. Vers. 9. casei lui Iuda; acolo vor paște; se vor odihni seara în casele Ascalonului, căci Domnul Dumnezeul lor nu-i va uita*Exod 4:31.Luca 1:68. și va aduce înapoi*Ps. 126:1.Ier. 29:14. Cap. 3:20. pe prinșii lor de război." 8 „Am auzit*Ier. 48:27.Ezec. 25:8. ocările Moabului și batjocurile*Ezec. 25:3,6. copiilor lui Amon, când defăimau pe poporul Meu și se ridicau*Ier. 49:1. cu trufie împotriva hotarelor lor. 9 De aceea, pe viața Mea", zice Domnul oștirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, „că Moabul*Is. 15:1.Ier. 48:1.Ezec. 25:9.Amos 2:1. va fi ca Sodoma și copiii lui Amon*Amos 1:13., ca Gomora: un loc acoperit*Gen. 19:25.Deut. 29:23.Is. 13:19;34:13.Ier. 49:18;50:40. cu mărăcini, o groapă de sare, un pustiu veșnic; rămășița*Vers. 7. poporului Meu îi va jefui, rămășița neamului Meu îi va stăpâni." 10 Lucrul acesta li se va întâmpla pentru mândria*Is. 16:6.Ier. 48:29. lor, pentru că au batjocorit și au fost semeți cu poporul Domnului oștirilor. 11 Domnul va fi grozav împotriva lor, căci va nimici pe toți dumnezeii pământului, și fiecare se va închina*Mal. 1:11.Ioan 4:21. înaintea Lui în țara lui, în toate ostroavele*Gen. 10:5. neamurilor. 12 „Chiar și voi, etiopienilor*Is. 18:1;20:4.Ier. 46:9.Ezec. 30:9., veți fi străpunși cu sabia*Ps. 17:13. Mea." 13 El Își va întinde mâna și spre miazănoapte, va nimici Asiria*Is. 10:12.Ezec. 31:3.Naum 1:1;2:10;3:15,18. și va preface Ninive într-o pustietate, într-un pământ fără apă, ca pustia. 14 În mijlocul cetății se vor culca*Vers. 6. turme de vite*Is. 13:21,22. de tot felul; pelicanul*Is. 34:11,14. și ariciul vor rămâne noaptea pe coperișurile stâlpilor ei. La ferestre se vor auzi țipetele lor, pustiirea va fi în prag, căci căptușeala*Ier. 22:14. de cedru va fi scoasă. 15 Iată dar cetatea aceea veselă, care stătea*Is. 47:8. plină de încredere și*Apoc. 18:7. zicea în inima ei: „Eu și niciuna afară de mine!" Vai! Cum s-a prefăcut în pustiu și în culcuș de fiare! Toți cei ce trec pe lângă ea fluieră*Iov 27:23.Plâng. 2:15.Ezec. 27:36. și arată*Naum 3:19. cu mâna!
