17 For Herodes hadde selv sendt folk avsted og grepet Johannes og lagt ham i bånd og kastet ham i fengsel for Herodias' skyld, som var hans bror Filips hustru; for han hadde giftet sig med henne.

18 Men Johannes hadde sagt til Herodes: Det er dig ikke tillatt å ha din brors hustru.

17 For Herod himself had sent out and arrested John and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, for he had married her. 18 For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife."
